A very nice interpretation of the first meeting of my favorite Tolkien couple! I can definitely see Faramir allowing warmth and hope to touch him again on meeting this unusual young woman.

Author Reply: They're a favourite of mine too :) I'm so pleased you enjoyed this, it's one of my earliest pieces! Thank you for taking the time to comment.

And he learns, as have so many others, that the revenge he wrung from the Elves in the end was empty, and anything but sweet.

Author Reply: Yes, he does, wicked old thing. Thank you so much for all your lovely comments, Larner.

I rejoice that he appreciates her true worth!

Author Reply: I'm glad! I love Haleth an unreasonable amount, and would love to write more of her one day.

Yes--the Noldor heritage remains in the lives of the Dunedain, doesn't it? And she thinks that it will be to Feanor that the honor will be granted to rebuild the world? Interesting conceit.

Author Reply: I've always been interested in the fire imagery around Feanor, and the motif of the Flame Imperishable that burns at the heart of Ea. I don't think Miriel's idea is so impossible ;)

Ah, but we see the beginnings of his arrogance and desire to be the worst of all of the dragons! Nicely done!

Author Reply: Thank you! I enjoyed writing baby Smaug.

And a good thing, that!

Author Reply: Definitely a good thing all round...I don't think Aragorn's kingdom would have been half so successful without Faramir and Eowyn's support.

Aha! Love that the sons support their father's fabled hospitality.

Author Reply: I love imagining what the sons of Elrond might have been like...we don't see enough of them in canon!

but this was why she had returned

What an interesting idea!

Author Reply: Thanks, shirebound! I'm glad you think so - even with all their mad bad deeds, I still find myself on the side of the Noldor...

I hope you don't mind my spamming this...
I KNEW I had read a lot of your stories, but not here, then finally I remembered, it was waaaaay back at lotrfanfiction. You'd written the story about the girl reborn as a horse in Rohan, and others that I really liked.
I've gone too long! I hadn't heard of the archive Faerie. I'll go sign myself up right now...
Anyway, I am glad that you're still writing!!

Author Reply: I don't mind at all!

Yes, that was Second Chance, way back in the day. That story is posted over at Faerie now; Esteliel set up that site when Adora gave up part of the ownership of lotrfanfiction and there was talk of it being run for profit (not sure how that would have worked with copyright regs and all, but, y'know). As I reposted, I reworked some of my stories, so they might be a bit different from the way you remember them; I took a long break from fanfic in my last two years of university (I was desperately trying to write my dissertation!) and when I came back to fanfic I could see a lot of my work needed improvement.

Hope to see you over at Faerie! There's a chat box there, so members can talk to each other about RL that way instead of having to have conversations via review, which is quite cool :)

My skin is crawling. When Saruman fell he took with him whoever he could!

Author Reply: He did indeed! I'm not sure where this strange, dark little piece came from; I'm not normally drawn to writing about cannibalism. Thanks for R&Ring, Kitt.
