Celeritas' Birthday Bash 2012  by Celeritas 42 Review(s)

Wow. Just...wow. I love Sam's caring for Frodo, as ever, and his writing to Bilbo like this. I know Bilbo will care for Frodo as he always has. :) I'm sure of it. And I don't blame Sam for being unable to forgive Gollum. I'd be hard-pressed to forgive him, too!

Author Reply: Yeah--I've never liked interpretations that leave everything nice and rosy. Learning to do the right thing is hard, and even when the head agrees the heart always takes a while to catch up.

Oh, Celeritas, thank you for this lovely present!! :) You not only nailed Frodo and Pippin here (not that I'd expect any different from you *grin*) but you brought out a memory for me, a bittersweet one, but one that I hadn't been able to recall in years. (I have memory issues stemming from being on antidepressants when I was 14-15, and most of those two years, as well as glaring patches of the next few years are blocked out. Recalling something, *anything* from that time that I couldn't remember is big, for me.)

It's actually a memory of a memory - I was sitting down with my dad when I was 18, having been only recently allowed to see him without supervision, and he told me his mother passed away when I was almost 14, something he wasn't allowed to tell me before then. Then (when I was 18, on that day) I was straining to remember if I'd ever had any inkling of this before - and suddenly today, now, the memory I was trying to recall *then* has come flooding back - of my dad calling my mum, demanding to speak to me, actually crying as well as yelling. I remember listening in on the other line and my mum shouting at me to get off because he wasn't allowed to talk to me. It's overwhelmingly clear, for being a suppressed (would that be the right word?) memory over ten years old. But despite the memories being sad ones, I'm happy that I actually *have* them now.

Ok! Sorry for the divergence into Kaylee's self centred ranting land. xD You probably didn't want to hear all that about me (but if you want to know more I'll tell you more later lol) But I just want you to know how much this story moved me.

Oh, and thank you for linking my own story! :)

Off to read the rest of these!

Author Reply: Not to worry--I'm glad you enjoyed the fic. I think we've all been at the point in our past when we know we're supposed to feel one way, but we can't, and don't know why.

Thanks for the review, and for reading the rest!
