Oh wow, Lai! This is one seriously intense chapter. I felt every moment of Elrond's anguish and horror as he watched Imladris fall. Not sure where you're going with this, but now I'm hanging off the cliff waiting for the next chapter.

Author Reply: this was my intention: to transfer the emotions of Elrond right to my readers. The next chapter will release all anguish, I promise. Please dont tumble off the cliff until then,*g*. Thank you for reviewing, Fiondil. Lai

Glorfindel's second says "he's dead", who else would he mean? And Erestor died beside him. One of his sons cradleing his dead twin. Rooms full of hacked to bits children and women. This would be the stuff of nightmare for Elrond, all right. The only thing now would be for him to open some door in time to see some orc hacking his wife to pieces. Depending upon when this was suppossed to be, he might have thought her safely in the Undying Lands. I am still betting on this being a nightmare. But who is having it? And when? No mention has yet been made of his daughter. Is Elrond having the dream during one of her stays in Lorien? Rhetorical question, of course. I know you won't be answering it, just yet!

Author Reply: a nightmare, mmmhm? You are near the mark but...not quite! That would be the only possible explanation, or? LOL! I could have killed Arwen also, yes, but she is in Lorien, now you know at what time this is happening. I´m glad you are curious ti know how this will be solved. Stay until the next chapter and you will know. Thank you so much for reviewing. I really appreciateit. Lai

Elladan, Glorfindel AND numerous residents of Rivendell slain? WHAT is going on? where in Arda did all the Orcs come from? Poor Elrond....

Author Reply: yes where did they come from all of a sudden? Hang on a bit long to the next chapter and all questions will be answered. Poor Elrond indeed, he needs now all our support. LOL! Thank you for reiewing. Lai

This is an interesting story. Obviously A/U but in many ways its kind of hanging in air because you don't explain how the A/U comes loose from canon. You write action well and I'll have to look at your other stories more closely to see what you've done with them. Thanks for an interesting start, I'll look forward to more.

Author Reply: and again it´s no AU! The miracle will be lifted with the next chapter, promise! I´m so glad that you find me writing action well - it´s not so really my playground. And if you are willing to look at my other stories I would be happy. Thank you so much for a most encouraging review. Lai

WOW! This is so sad!

Author Reply: yes it is! I had to sniff while writing. Thank you for reviewing, Ellie. Lai

Okay, this is pretty intense. Not sure where you're going with this, Lai, but I look forward to seeing more. Elladan and Erestor dead and Glorfindel hasn't been seen for hours? Not good. Not good at all.

Author Reply: blame the still clinging winter for my gloomy mood. I had to write something intense and dark -well here it is but be assured -it IS NOT GOOD AT ALL. Thank you for reviewing, Fiondil. I really appreciate it. Lai

Oh my goodness! So vivid, so real. I felt like I was standing right beside Elrond, or watching the scene through his eyes. Not an "AU"? Most intrigueing. I will most definitely be following this one. My other quess would be someone's fevered dream. But whose, I could not begin to guess! One other thought this inspired in me...I have lived most of my 50-some years in mostly peaceful communities, large or small, in the valleys of the Rocky Mountains of North America. Yes, I have heard of several rather horrible murders in my life, even in the farming town of about 5,000 people where I mostly grew up. As a child, images from the Viet Nam war, and race riots in Watts, Detroit and other cities were beamed right into my living room. But, outside of a couple of serious floods and the occasional range fire, I have never been in a community in the midst of a war, or riot, or terrorist attack. I have these last two days watched the images from the Boston Marathon attack with a horrible fascination. I can only think that "of those to whom much is given, much is required" and I ought to gratefully give to causes which try to comfort and aid those who have suffered such horrors. I shall be giving much thought to how I would react to such things happening around me, or to those I care about. A POWERFUL story!

Author Reply: I´m so glad that a theme so dark felt real and vivid to you. It was my intention to let the reader stand next to Elrond and obviously it worked. Like you I have no experience how an attack in my wont surroundings would feel like, yet I can very good sympathize with those who have to endure something like that. I´m also watching what is happening in Boston and can only shake my head. I´m glad I had enough imagination to transport the dark image into your room. Thank you for a most appreciated review, demeter. Lai

Wow! This is really dark. I'm kind of reeling from the carnage.

Author Reply: dark indeed! I hope you like it nonetheless. Lai

Good heavens, whatever has happened?! So many dead.... is this an AU where Sauron regains the Ring? That's the only explanation I can think of...what will happen now?

Author Reply: this is definitely no AU! There has to be another explanation. I´m glad I hooked you. THank you so much for the first review. Lai
