Ah, Maglor. It's so interesting to ponder on his eventual fate -- he's a very tragic character. I have my own version I've been putting together off and on as well...

I had not thought of him coming across Aragorn and Co...but there definitely would have been the opportunity...

Thanks for writing!

Author Reply: I would hope that Arwen at least had the opportunity to have come to know her father's own foster-father. I, too, have my own idea as to what became of Maglor, and have had it written for years--but need to bring the rest of the epic up to that point. Some stories I've written the end for long before I get through the middle chapters. I wish I wrote as fluently now as I used to do.

This is still one of my favorite stories. It makes me cry and smile at once.

Author Reply: Good heavens--you wrote this comment a year ago, and I'm only now responding to it? Thank you so--I enjoyed imagining this experience for Maglor. And it is still a thing of wonder to know my writing can so move others. Thank you again, with all my heart.

Nice story. I always felt sorry for Feanor's sons.

I enjoyed reading this very much! Maglor's discussion with Russandol was well done. The acceptance that Maglor had gained from the family despite their knowledge of his past gave him the strength to take the gifts that Frodo had given him; not only the material ones but the spiritual and emotional ones as well. I think the Valar would have moved through Frodo and Russandol's family to show Maglor that he was worthy of forgiveness despite his mistakes. He regretted his actions, unlike Sauron and Sauruman. That scene at the end with Arwen, Sam, and Gimli was perfect! It was so nice to see how Arwen accepted him as her grandfather. Will Maglor return to Valinor now, or will he stay in Middle Earth for a bit longer? I look forward to seeing what might happen between Melian and Russandol! Aragorn and Sam might find themselves having some interesting conversations someday now that their daughters are growing up and young males are taking notice..... Has Elanor met a certain young hobbit yet? I suspect Elrond and Rosie's father would feel a certain amount of satisfaction when the young ladies start courting! Many thanks for posting this! :)

Author Reply: One day I may write the stories you suggest, Teresa, although there is so much I'm still working on elsewhere. I have written the incidents leading up to Maglor returning to Aman, but it's the final chapters to another work in progress, and I am finding that writing the chapters leading toward the ending chapters that have been long written is taking an inordinate amount of time to do!

I regret I didn't respond to your comments when they were made. It was a rather chaotic time when you made them. But I do appreciate them! Thank you so!

Yes, Arwen is as close to a grandchild as Maglor has; it's wonderful that he has finally gained the courage to come meet her. I liked the interaction between Maglor and the various Dunedain, too.

Author Reply: Until he can come home again to Aman, this is where his family has come to, at least. And I do think he needed to meet Arwen, at the very least.

In looking at Maglor seeing the last light of the Silmaril leaving Middle Earth with his remaining fosterling, I do think he'd have felt confused as his rational mind wrestled with the instincts associated with that blasted oath he took. That he might end up being found by a member of the nearest Dunedain village just seemed possible, so how might he have dealt with them in the future? And this might well prove to be one of his last chances to develop a relationship with Elrond's children, after all. Hopefully he would accept Arwen's assays at a relationship, no matter how tenuous.

Thanks so very much, Raksha!

This is a beautiful story. I'm glad Arwen was willing to accept Maglor.

Author Reply: Thank you so, Mysterious Jedi. I am certain that Elrond would leave his children with good thoughts about the one who stood as his own foster father when his parents disappeared into the West. And I'm certain Maglor needed to know that he was remembered well in some quarters, at least.

I would love to have you write a beautiful story like this for me for my birthday which is in the beginning of July.

I seem to have read other stories about Manglor which also show redemption for his sins. I think perhaps he deserves a second chance.

Author Reply: We will see what I can come up with by then, Tari. I'll be planning something for then.

I have more written for Maglor's story, but those chapters are in another tale that isn't up yet. Thank you so!

Like everyone else I want more!

I have always hoped that one day Maglor would forgive himself and find his way back to Aman, maybe this is the beginning of the end for him.

Lynda

Author Reply: I suspect that this will help to pave the way for that day! Thank you so very much, Lynda!

This was a most enjoyable story! I loved the Ranger family and seeing Maglor find some peace.

Author Reply: I don't know precisely why Maglor has been haunting my imagination this past month, but he has. And it took me just about a month to get this written, I found. Some stories are downright stubborn about not necessarily wishing to be finished, I've found!

I agree you can't stop at this chapter! There has to be more! I would very much like to see Gimili and Maglor converse, that would be interesting. As for the children of Elrond and the other elves, I think Maglor just might be surprised. After all Arwen called him daeradar.I love the fact that Russando/Timriol and his family accepted him,and they knew his history.
LOL Galathil

Author Reply: The story of Maglor is well known throughout Middle Earth, after all, and I suspect that considering how relatively few Elves appear to have been given to wandering about the place on their own a few individuals at least would be able to figure out who he was.

I may expand on this one day, although I couldn't guess when!

Thanks so!
