Oh I would so like to think that such an encounter, and such a greeting, took place. Thank you.

Author Reply: I found I had to revisit Maglor in the early Fourth Age once more! And thank you!

I love the idea that Maglor might have reunited with Arwen and Aragorn's family and the other members of the fellowship, and that he might have made friends among the Dunedain.

I wish it had been longer, but its still a very lovely story and I appreciated the themes of reconciliation, forgiveness and acceptance woven into it. Hoping for more stories...

Author Reply: I've explored Maglor's possible view of the leaving of the ship on which sailed Elrond, Galadriel, Frodo, and Gandalf, and always wondered how he must have felt when he realized that Frodo bore the light of the Silmaril when he left Middle Earth. Tolkien himself was interested in the very themes you named, and so I wanted to look at some of the pressures that might have been brought to bear on Maglor to inspire him to seek out reconciliation himself.

There is a story that I've written that expands upon this one in a certain way, although it remains to post the relevant chapters involving Maglor. Much of what is in this story is expanded upon in that one. One day it WILL be finished--I so vow!

Loved this story - will there be a continuation?

It is obvious that Sam and Gimli have learned a lot about compassion from Frodo.

It is equally clear that Arwen as been influenced by her father with regards to her "grandfather" - I can't imagine other than that Elrond would have received his foster-father with open arms, if he had only dared to reveal himself. And I would guess that Elladan, Elrohir and Aragorn would do the same.
What other Elves might think I don't know. I imagine that there would be quitr a few who still would not welcome Maglor among them. Elves are immortal, after all, and so it would be difficult for their grudges to die, too. But two Ages have passed since the First Age, and that would be a long time, even for Elves, and hopefully enough time to let many would be willing to let bygones be bygones, even if they aren't quite ready to forgive all.

Author Reply: I have some expansion of details in this story already written, although I've not gotten far enough in what I've written of THAT story posted to get the chapters dealing with Maglor receiving a shirt crafted by Arwen or Frodo's shirt studs posted.

I am certain that many Elves with too long of memories still detested Maglor for his involvement with the kinslayings in Alquallonde and during the First Age of the Sun; but I doubt that by this time Cirdan would still wish to see Maglor condemned for what he did over two Ages of the Sun past. After all, he was considered to be among the Wise himself!

Perhaps I will find myself expanding upon this particular story and learning whether Maglor would agree to come to the Citadel in Annuminas to be formally presented before the King of Arnor and Gondor. But I cannot imagine Arwen being anything other than gracious and caring as she greeted him.

Thanks so for your comments--they do mean so very much!

What a beautiful story. I love the idea of Maglor watching the King return to the North. That Arwen was so gracious and loving is perfect. (And I'll add my voice to the others, that it'd be nice to see more... I'd love to see him meet Aragorn!)

Author Reply: Oh, I'm so glad you liked it. And perhaps I will one day expand upon it to see whether he'd agree to meet with Aragorn and possibly the twins and Celeborn, and under what circumstances. I have written how he ended up with a shirt made by Arwen and Frodo's shirt studs, but that is still not posted, I'm afraid. It WILL be posted one day, when the time is right!

You can't stop there!? :( Where is the rest........ please?

Author Reply: It appears many wish this one expanded upon. Perhaps in the future? Am so glad that people do want more of some stories!

Author Reply: I so agree, UTfrog! Thanks so!

A fascinating, very moving story. One wonders what will happen next, and whether 'Lord Morgil' will allow himself to live at peace.

Author Reply: I have written the description of how he ended up with a shirt made by Arwen and Frodo's shirt studs, and what that led to in the end for him, but that is not yet ready to be posted. It will be posted one day. Maglor came to have reason to know just how compassionate Frodo could be in that portion of the story that is yet to be posted--in a different longer tale, unfortunately.

Thanks so very much, Shirebound!
