| Delisciously creepy but not overly and it makes a perfect bedtime story for adults and older children. When I read it I got that childlike euphoria and wonderful curiousity mingled slightly with fear.I bet I would have gone to the Wild Wood too! At least I would have chanced a sneakpeak inside its edge! Did the elf know that Aragorn was a king too? I wish I had the time to make a pictureseries on Deviant art for this story some day! I can see the place, the elf and Aragorn in my head😌What was that thing that crept upon Aragorn? I kept my feet inside the bed last night after reading and Im silly but I always do hahahaha! Maybe someday, and if you ever do, be sure to show me. It's such an honor knowing that something I wrote created such strong images in a reader's mind. I'm glad you enjoyed the story... and sorry you got the heebie jeebies from it. No, I take that back--I'm glad it gave you the willies because that's what I'd hoped it would do. :) I was definitely aiming for a sort of fairy tale horror with this, nothing too awful but enough to send a chill and raise goose bumps. Heaven knows, I scared myself at times writing it when I imagined scenarios much more scary, too scary to put onto paper. The Elf did indeed discover that Aragorn was a king. I liked the idea of the Elf having a similar gift of reading hearts to Aragorn's, plus a little foresight. As for the thing that crept up on Aragorn, it was a remnant, perhaps, of the evil things that Morgoth sent to plague the Elves. Tolkien has said that not all the evil things were wiped out with Sauron, so I ran with those two ideas, influenced also by Mewlips and the Shadow Bride tales. Tolkien left a lot of room for evil things besides Orcs and wizards and maiar who've gone bad, which makes for a fun playground for imagining scary tales. And to answer your question of a follow-up... I've had passing little snippets float through my mind about what may have happened next--perhaps a tale about the Elf and his people, or even about Aragorn traveling back here again once he's actually king of Gondor, which seems very likely--but so far nothing's coalesced into anything solid enough for a good tale. I do like the complete feel of this one. I may write another story to go with it someday but for now, I'll leave that up to the reader's imagination. | |

| what an amazing tale, creepy yes but also full of wonders. I do so love the tales of old. Finding Cuiviénen - what a concept. Itīs sad that Aragorn didnīt find it but he found this elf-King and that was worth the journey anyway. I wonder who he was.... Had to laugh out loud at the line ......Elrond came flying into the hallway, convinced that his fosterling had come to some horrible end....*snicker* Thank you for this outstanding tale. So glad you enjoyed it, and the humor. *g* I think the Twins-as-Pranksters gets a little overdone at times but I can definitely see them teasing their "little brother" in the way of normal brothers (or even mischievous uncles). | Ooo! I really liked this. The concept and the execution are both great. Of course, being a great fan of elves, I find myself imagining it from the elf's POV. But yes, I'll add to the chorus of people that would also like to see Aragorn carry on to the birthplace of the Secondborn. Author Reply: Thanks, elliska! Glad you enjoyed this. I think it'd be interesting to see the story from the Avar's point of view, wondering who this ragged stranger is striding through his woods. He really intrigued me as I wrote him and I found myself wishing I could see more of him. Maybe I need to add a story from his POV as well as continuing on with Aragorn to Hildorien. *adds idea to the list* | |

| That was indeed creepy, Cairistiona, with the shadow almost killing Aragorn. Loved tha way he and the Elf managed to communicate with one another. And the Elf was a king. Too bad Aragorn wasn't comfortable enough to admit that he too was a king, albeit a crownless one. Aragorn does indeed have an interesting tale to tell and not just to his putative grandchildren. I wonder what he found in Hildorien? *wink* I really enjoyed this one. Thanks for a great story. You do Aragorn so well. Author Reply: Thanks, Fiondil! So glad you enjoyed it. I think Aragorn's worries over boring his future grandchildren turned out to be pretty much groundless--he'll have to figure out a way to tell the story without giving them nightmares instead! As for Hildorien... I hadn't really thought about what might happen there, but as you're the second reader so far to nudge me in that direction, I'm going to have to do some thinking about it. | You know how much I enjoyed this story, but I'm sure you won't mind if I repeat it here. To my mind, it's among your best. You did a great job of mantaining the suspense, and creating the perfect eerie mood that your plot required. Good job! Author Reply: Thank you! And thank you for the beta assistance as well. | and then he wondered if the stone, by some magic, remembered the fair steps of those who once tarried here. The thought raised goosebumps along his arms. Oooh, me too. I just love stories that link the ancient days to the present. Wow, what an incredible, unique experience for Aragorn! This is beautifully, hauntingly written. Author Reply: Thank you, shirebound! It was tricky to write--I wish in a way I'd not done it for Teitho so I could have expanded it in some areas and made it more of a multi-chapter, but maybe I'll revisit it someday and revise.
