Elf Academy 3: The Enemy Within  by Fiondil 2009 Review(s)

Your back. Yeah! Hope you had a great Christmas.

I'd like to find a bookstore like this. I usually avoid bookstores because I'll inevitably find something I just have to buy. Someone like Finrod would be my downfall.

Author Reply: Hi Tari. I had a great Christmas, thank you. Finrod would be my downfall, too. Hope you enjoy the series. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Thank you Fiondil! Your stories are such a treat. I am definitely enjoying this series, though I remember tentatively beginning to read the first one when I was wary of the premise. However, your skill quickly won me over and I am clearly quite hooked.

I have to say that your universe has made me very attached to Finrod. I have always loved Glorfindel, but I knew next to nothing of Finrod until you introduced me. Then last night I was reading an embellished account of Beren and Luthien. They were approaching Sauron's lair, and I couldn't bring myself to continue as I did not want to see Finrod die. I know he's alive and well here, but I didn't want to dwell, and anyway--I miss Edrahil too.

Thank you for bringing these characters to life (and death) and bringing out their personalities to shine. I love bookstores anyway... unfortunately, I can never seem to find one around here with an elf lord teller.

Happy New Year!

Author Reply: You're most welcome, Noruinivel. I hope you continue to enjoy this series. I know others were initially wary of the premise of Elf Academy 1 but, like you, once they started reading it, they were hooked. I'm glad my writings have helped you to become attached to Finrod. He's my favorite First Age Elf along with Glorfindel (they're pretty neck-to-neck in that respect). Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It's very much appreciated.

I was so happy to see EA3 in my email! Great things happening for Quinn! I'm confused about Steampunk myself. Lol

Idril

Author Reply: I've read one Steampunk novel. I enjoyed it, but it's not a genre that grabs my imagination all that much. Anyway, I'm glad you are looking forward to this series. Thanks for letting me know, Idril. I appreciate it very much.

ATTO ATTO ATTO IT'S BACK IT'S BACK YOU'RE BACK!!!!!!!!! *happy flail*

And Finrod started his job in the *bookstore!* You might remember I once worked in a Barnes & Noble. I think I would have preferred this bookstore SO much. Not just because of Finrod but because smaller bookstores seem to not have as many bossy idiots around. But FINROD. Yay ^_^

I'm so glad Glorfindel isn't upset with Finrod over the job thing anymore and that everything seems to be going well...so far. *eyes title suspiciously* "The Enemy Within"...where have I heard that one before?

Oh right, Stargate SG-1 episode, second one of first season I think. Or third, depending on whether you count Children of the Gods as one episode or two. *wince* Didn't end well, either. I wonder if this means anyone in Wiseman, be he Elda or Maia or Aftercomer now born upon Middle-earth, might be possessed, or working for someone else - where have Farrell and his lot got to, anyway? I keep waiting for them to come back, lol. I wonder if even Alex might be suborned somehow...*shudder*

Oh, and I LOVED the part with Finrod and the little girl - he was so careful of her once he realised she was blind. It reminded me of your story with Legolas, the Deaf woman and the rocking horse. Disabilities might baffle most Elves, but I wonder if Finrod might have known anyone who was blind before?

Can't wait for Friday!

See this fic next year I guess! LOL! :D Next year being a little closer than most times one would say so...

What are your plans for ringing in the New Year, Atto? Anything fun? :)

Tye-melin tenn' Ambar-metta,

Kaylee

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. "The Enemy Within" is also a chapter title in Elf Academy 2 and was the title of a classic Star Trek episode. We'll see soon enough why this series is so subtitled. Farrell, by the way, is in prison along with his cohorts awaiting trial for murder.

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed this beginning chapter, especially Finrod and Shelby. I imagine Finrod might have encountered disabled Mortals along the way. After all, he spent a year with Bëor's people and some were bound to have some type of disability.

Not doing anything special for the New Year. It'll be a miracle if I'm actually awake to see the New Year in. LOL! Tye-melin, and thanks for leaving a review. It's always appreciated.

Seems like 'Quinn' is giving Wiseman an economic boost or at least Nick's store!

Let's hope things keep on as they are and he does not get a visit from the customer from hell, this time of year they are very prevalent!

Good to see you back, even if I had to step over my son to get to the computer, space is at a premium in the old homestead at the moment what with Orclings and their parents and he is sleeping on the floor of the Den!

Waiting for Friday,
Huggs,
Lynda

P.S. Happy New Year!

Author Reply: Happy New Year to you, Lynda. And I'm sure Finrod can handle even the customer from hell with no problem. Glad you are looking forward to reading this series. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it as always. Hugs.

Nothing like an Elf-King to boast business a little. It's fun to see that people just wanted to gawk and actually ended up buying books. Who knows, they might even read them. *g*

It's good to see this series continue.

Author Reply: That's for sure, Soledad, and you never know, they may actually read the books they bought. LOL! I hope you enjoy this part of the series. Thanks for reviewing. It's greatly appreciated.

IT'S BACK.

It's ridiculous how much I've been looking forward to this story! You know how to get people hooked, Fiondil.

It's so good to see Finrod recovering from his case of the blues. It's also good to see him surrounded by curious people – as long as he doesn't mind the attention, it's probably fun for him as well as the customers. Not to mention it's good for Nick! The other stores in Wiseman should wise up – 1. hire an Elf, 2. watch business pour in, 3. profit. Win-win for everybody.

Heck yeah, Shelby. I admire your taste, girly. I've never been into the genre but I'm forever in love with the aesthetic and the amazing designs that people come up with.

How was your Christmas? Hope it was lovely and that any disasters were minor. I only managed to ruin a batch of cookies for my yearly inevitable Christmas mishap. A happy New Year to you and all my fellow readers/reviewers!

So happy to see this story continue! IT'S BACK.

Lotsa well-wishes!
-Kevana

Author Reply: Hi Kevana. I don't think it's ridiculous at all. *smirk* Love the links. They're pretty cool. My Christmas was grand and I suffered no mishaps, thank Eru. Happy New Year to you as well and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. You know how much I appreciate you doing so.

Yay, the new story is there! Finished my re-read one week ago and was already going into withdrawal, lol.

*eyes the title suspiciously* Enemy within? That sounds a bit ominous, but after the drama with Farrell and everything, it was probably to be expected.

Anyway, Finrod did his job very well, no doubt about it, particularly for the first day and all alone with so many customers. I think he's going to enjoy it, or at least as long as he doesn't mind that so many of them just come to look at him. At least he got most of them to buy something, which is a good thing, and I am sure Nick can use the business.

Oh, and you reminded me that I wanted to look up what steampunk is. A colleague was liking it so much, but I didn't have the slightest clue what it was, lol. Did it finally ;)

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. As promised. And the reason for the subtitle will become obvious soon enough.

Finrod is cool whatever he's doing and I'm sure he was having a blast.

I've read one steampunk novel and while I enjoyed it, it isn't a genre that I want to read all the time. It's very popular, though, at least here in the States.

Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it very much.

"aaaahhhh!!!!" *sighs with happiness* Although I think the story is going to get much, much darker *snigger* Roll on Friday (I hope!)!

Author Reply: Oh yes, it does get darker, CaitlinRennes, but there is still light as well. And Friday will come soon enough, I promise. Thanks for being the first to leave a comment for this story. I appreciate it. Happy New Year.
