This is a nice gap filler. Author Reply: I've long suspected that Faramir always hoped one day for the kingdom of Gondor to be restored to its former glory, and if anyone should see a parallel between the hope for the White Tree to again grow in the courts of the King and the hope for that King to return, it would be him.
