| Nicely done! However, I find myself looking in vain for the reports of Beren Erchamion and Finrod Felagund (the account I remember of them prisoned together in the dark, and Finrod sacrificing himself, still makes my heart pound so many years after reading about them...). I also remember Fiondil's description of Finrod, portraying him in the light of "most likely to win the most popular award" or "best-beloved Elf of all" or something like that. I'm not sure why? (I mean, he sacrificed himself for a Man, but why do the Elves hold him so dear? Or is that just fanon on Fiondil's part? I don't remember enough of the Sil, if that's where JRRT talks about him, or I'm not familiar enough with JRRT's other writings that might mention him.) Ghân-buri-Ghân might be interesting to contemplate, though he's simply an afterthought. (An idle thought?) Author Reply: I'm sure third volume could be written. | I laughed my way through this chapter. So many sly jabs and sudden outbreaks of humour that pop up unexpectedly here and there. Not shy to speak his mind, even when there isnt much of it and See Aragorn and will never be good pianist, not to mention the suggested Yule present of "socks". Alas poor Halbarad and his disadvantage... I heartily agree with the "Highly recommended" status of Meriadoc Brandybuck. He is, after all, my favourite hobbit (which, paradoxically, is why I've written relatively little about him but love to read fanfics about him that don't portray him as a complete fool and nincompoop. To each his own.). And the whole time I was reading, the theme music of "The Dating Game" kept running in the back of my head like the annoying whine of a very large mosquito. Author Reply: I'm glad I don't know that music, lol. Merry is such a well-grounded, competent, level-headed lad. | |
