Merry and Pippin's Visit by KathyG
In this pre-Quest gapfiller based on Mariole’s story, “Bad Step” (which can be found at LiveJournal), Sam is confined to his room and ordered to stay off his feet on the day after he has been outside for the first time since his accident, and he’s feeling cross and out of sorts. Merry and Pippin make an unexpected visit to Bag End to cheer him up and amuse him. Thanks to Mariole for the idea as to the way in which Merry and Pippin attempt to amuse Sam, and to Dreamflower for beta-reading my story as well (including her assistance with the Gamgees’ rustic speech)! In this story, Frodo is approaching 35 years of age; Sam is 23; Merry is 21; and Pippin is 13 (in Man years, 21 or 22, 14½, 13½, and 8 years old). None of the characters in this story belong to me. Most of them belong to J.R.R. Tolkien (the rest belong to Mariole).

Sunstroke! by KathyG
In this pre-Quest story based on The Lord of the Rings, while trying to catch up on his weeding in the Bag End gardens, young Samwise Gamgee suffers a major medical emergency. Author’s Note: Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin are 31, 20, 18, and 9 years old (in the years of Men, 20, 13, 12, and 5½ or 6 years of age). Thanks to Dreamflower for beta-reading my story, and for the work that she did on my behalf: to make the Gaffer’s dialogue authentic, and for the flashback sequence that she suggested! Disclaimer: Except for Mistress Rose, the characters don’t belong to me, but to J.R.R. Tolkien.

Sam's Gratitude by KathyG
In this double-drabble, Sam gets to thinking about how fortunate he is, because he can read. Sam is approaching his tweens, and he’s still receiving an education from Bilbo. (In my head canon, Sam's mother, Bell, is still alive, but the word limit did not allow me to include her as well as Marigold.) Theme: Gratitude.

Where's Frodo? by KathyG
(Movie-verse) How is it that, near the end of the prologue in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Frodo tells Bilbo that he’s going to go off and wait for Gandalf, and then, in the introduction to the extended version of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Bilbo thinks that Frodo is still somewhere in the smial? This little movie-verse gap-filler/missing scene explains how that could have possibly happened. (Thanks a million to Dreamflower for beta-reading my story!)
