Thanks. He's supposed to be about mid-teens. If there was anything that confused you about his age, I'd love to hear it because it does seem to be a problem of mine. My e-mail address is on my website, which is listed on my links, if you go to my profile.

Hi! This is a very interesting story, with much depth to it. Estel must truly have been caught between the twon worlds of Elves and Men as he grew up amongst Elves and withn an Elven fioster father but being a man. I like the picture of him trying to get his ears into elf-shape and thinking of himself as elven. I think that for a long time he might have felt to be an elf by everything but blood, before living permanently with the rangers and learning to accept to be a human like them. Your story shiows the beginning of the process, and shows it greatly! I also greatly like the poem. hank you for this Jewel! Aislynn

Thank you - I'm glad you liked the story and the poem. I agree that he probably thought of himself as an elf, certainly when he was too young to know better.

I like this story as well. I like that you have kept to canon and had Gilraen alive and involved in the raising of her son...and the questions Estel has about his identity. I couldn't help but wonder which of the rangers there knew who Estel was - or if they all did.

Author's reply

Thank you! I haven't really thought too much about what the Rangers knew - that just introduces more complications - but some of them at least must have known something, being as it was such an odd situation.

What a nice thing to see this sitting here! Lovely story, Nic. I rarely read young Aragorn stories (or young anything else, for that matter -- maybe because I am old, who knows?) but your title caught my attention. Nicely put together, nice pacing. Interesting perspective.

Author's reply

I have to admit to nicking the title from the picture because I couldn't think of a better one :) I am especially glad you thought the pacing was good because I had lots of trouble with that as I was writing it.

Exellent! You should write more Estel stories!

Thank you! I keep intending to but others keep getting in the way!
