Wonderfully done, my dear! I don't think I've ever read this one. It might have been before I knew you, and I obviously missed out on a fantastical tale.

What a heartrending and poetic dream!Very well written.
Elwen · 4 April 2004 · Chapter 6: The Sea Shell
Oh my. These get better and better. The description of the inside of the shell, winding and smooth, curving away from him, was so vivid. And the way you showed the shell inside and out, the feel of it and the shape, the colours. The whole thing had that lovely interconnected but disjointed feel of a dream and yet there was a peace in it. Amazing chapter. Loved it.
Author's reply
Thank you! I'm so glad that the visual aspect (along with the other sensory effects) of the dream came across so strongly. That was the effect I was trying to achieve. And I'm also glad that the feeling of peace came through. Poor Frodo -- I've put him through all sorts of nasty dreams. I'm glad that I could give him something gentler, and also somewhat supported by canon.

yay u continued! it was great!

THIS STORY WAS VERY INTREGEING!LOVED IT!
Lyta Padfoot · 14 March 2004 · Chapter 5: Touched by Evil, Part II
Chilling, the 'choices' put to Frodo were no better than selecting between Scylla and Charybdis.
Author's reply
That's one way of putting it, with an Odyssian twist! But you're right. The impossible choice.
Lyta Padfoot · 14 March 2004 · Chapter 4: Touched by Evil
Creepy. I felt my skin crawl.
Arwen Baggins · 14 March 2004 · Chapter 5: Touched by Evil, Part II
NO! FROODOO! You can't kill him! This is so sad, but it could be better. Would you mind if I wrote an Epilouge? I have the PERFECT idea! Please!
Author's reply
Dear Arwen - I'm sorry I've taken so long to respond. If you would like to write an epilogue, go ahead. I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with. I actually wrote a comforting epilogue for some readers at LiveJournal, since many people found the dream to be too dark for them. But the epilogue is *not* an official one - "officially" the story stops at the end of the fifth chapter as it is posted here at Stories of Arda. But I'd like to see another "AU" epilogue. Have fun!
GamgeeFest · 13 March 2004 · Chapter 5: Touched by Evil, Part II
Well, I can't get onto FF.net, so I'll review here. That was pretty dark. What a horrible choice to have to make. I can't help but think that this is part of Frodo's guilt for claiming the Ring at the last second - that he feels in someway unworthy to be among the others. Very suspenseful. But I think we've earned a happy dream, don't you? Keep up the great work!
Author's reply
It was a dreadful choice. I had a hard time writing this dream - I hated what I was writing, and hated what I was doing to Frodo. But this story wanted to be told, and so I wanted to write it (an odd position to be in, definitely!) We've definitely earned a happy dream! In fact, the one I am working on (slowly) will probably be the happiest (or at least the most hopeful) dream yet in this series. Thanks!

Oh, my!! This latest dreme is both wonderful and horrible at the same time...wonderful because it's a great read...but horrible because it is...well...a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad dreme! Did I mention I can't stand the sight of a spider? And to think of (apparently) one being underneath Frodo's poor skin...ack!!! Please continue quickly so we can get him recovered and forget this ever happened, ok? LOL! Seriously...I can't get the image out of my head...so you gotta write fast! Blessings! cp
katakanadian · 8 March 2004 · Chapter 2: King and Sacrifice
Wow! Another good one. You've captured very well the uncertain sense of loss I felt when finishing LotR.
katakanadian · 8 March 2004 · Chapter 1: Eagle Flight
Sugokatta! It was the most intriguing piece I've read in a long while.

Arigatou! I'm very late with this response - gomen nasai! Once I had the idea of flying over Middle-earth on the back of an eagle, I couldn't let it go!
Arwen Baggins · 8 March 2004 · Chapter 4: Touched by Evil
This chapter was...interesting to say the least and I am anxious to find out what they are going to cut from him...but I don't think this one deserves an R rating. It certainly sounds like a horror chapter, but I think it's more PG-13. I'm thinking that the R rating had better be saved for the next chapter.
cpsings4him · 27 February 2004 · Chapter 3: Moonlight through Water
Oooh!!! I LOVE this! As someone who often has odd, fanciful and sometimes disturbing dreams (along with the occasional prophetic type dream thrown in - sometimes correct, sometimes not - so I never count on them!) I can sympathize. Great job setting the mood and theme for each dream. Beautiful imagery! Bravo! Blessings! cp
Author's reply
I too have had odd, fanciful (and sometimes disturbing) dreams all my life. I used to keep a dream journal, filled it and started another one. So, from one "chronic dreamer" to another, thank you for your kind review!
shirebound · 22 February 2004 · Chapter 3: Moonlight through Water
This is *such* a powerful dream! I had to read this through twice to really appreciate all the subtleties and your exquisite writing. The one thing that truly set Frodo apart from all other hobbits was his dreams, and you're showing this beautifully.
Author's reply
Thank you so much! I was worried, when I posted this, that readers would miss some of the themes and messages -- certainly a good knowledge of the books, appendices and even a bit of the Silmarillion is needed to have enough background to *get* this dream. But even without those, hopefully it offers enough for readers' interpretations... Thank you again.
Kit5 · 29 January 2004 · Chapter 1: Eagle Flight
What a wonderful incredible dream for Frodo...Sam the eagle. When I grow up, I want to write like this. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Author's reply
Well, I still haven't grown up... and am not likely to do so any time soon. :) But thank you for your kind words!
Arwen Baggins · 29 January 2004 · Chapter 1: Eagle Flight
I'm assuming that that means that you'll tell us about Frodo's original dream in the next vignette. By the way, this one was just...fantastic!
Author's reply
Thank you! And, as I have planned it so far, you would be assuming correctly...
