Wow~ I really enjoyed your story. Its the first E/F one I have read and was hooked from the first chapter. I had to read it all in one go! Looking forward to more! santy

Author's reply

thanks for reviewing, that's awesome! :)

fliewatuet · 15 April 2004

Ah, more lessons in Rohirric. I always love the challenge of trying to figure out as much as I can without having to peek at the translations. Other than that, I really don't want to know what Pippin hid in his pocket (though, given Aragorn's hints ... do I read them correctly and Pippin hid a snake in Aragorn's quarters in Rivendell? That's a tale I want to read in full!) And I wonder whether Pippin had to leave so quickly in order to warn Faramir and Éowyn or whether he went off on another, most likely miscievous, errand. And twenty minutes seemed like an awfully long time for Aragorn and Éomer to reach Faramir's rooms ...

hopefully i'll have the next chapter up today but i'm registering for next fall's classes and it's horribly overcomplicated. sucks, i really want to conclude the evening. i've got some ideas to hammer out though

Jen · 13 April 2004

Wow, two chapters today! Both were excellent as usual. I really like Faramir's strategy to get Eowyn comfortable with him when he is near. I think Eowyn is enjoying it too. Hope Eomer does not do anything too drastic when he finds them. Thank you for taking time to write this fic when you have a test. Good luck!

Author's reply

Thanks on the luck. Too bad it didn't help. Writing fanfiction is just as addictive as reading it and i'm falling a bit behind. just gotta sum up some will power....haha! Funny, I can do 2 chapters and yet i cant write a 900 word english paper. just staring at the blank screen gives me more inspiration for this story! AAARGH! lol, i'm gonna be a member of FWA, Fanfiction Writers Anonymous soon.

ROFL Faramir drunk!!! That is fantastic. Oh shoot, it is late I have to get to bed. I compleatly lost track of time here. This is just really a great read. Have I said that enough. Oh I am tired. I will read more tomarrow. Lovely Lovely Lovely

If they actually go to Eowyn's room first then Faramir has no idea how lucky he is! But they'd better cool down a little bit, and maybe go find a chaperon unless Faramir wants to be in trouble. Study for your test! I'd like to read more, yes, but tests are more important! Good luck on, by the way.

Author's reply

They do go to her room first--he must have been born lucky. ;)

fliewatuet · 13 April 2004

Lovely! Though the who is ripping who appart question still remains unanswered. But the setting as it is is more than promising. Éomer is a worthy opponent even without his sword ... Good luck for your test, by the way.

Author's reply

Thanks for the luck, alas, I have had no will power to go to class lately and my test was from notes..... :( yeah, good thing I've made good grades so far. Totally agreeing on you with the Eomer comment. He could beat Faramir I think, but if he will remains to be seen :) (hopefully today)

MysteriousWays · 13 April 2004

I have read up to this point since reviewing on chapter one. This is definately a page turner. I tend to be rather impatient when it comes to reading fan fiction, all too often it is easy for me to set it aside for "later". Yours though, I don't want to stop reading. Your characterization is dead on to how I see everyone myself. I have to go be a responsible adult for a bit but then I am coming back to read more of this. Mys

Author's reply

Thanks. Awesome of you to review.

sqrt(-1) · 13 April 2004

Oh dear, Faramir needs to behave! Especially since Eomer and Aragorn are looking for them, but then, he doens't know that, does he? I look forward to your next update.

Author's reply

Today! Ha! I managed to do two before I had to study. Hehe, Faramir's not going to behave himself any more in Chapt. 24 than he did in 23. ;)

MysteriousWays · 13 April 2004

What a fabulous start to the story. I can hardly wait to read more. In fact I will not wait. I am off to chapter two. Mys

fliewatuet · 13 April 2004

Just a quick note to let you know that I am still reading and still enjoying the story. Very much! As before, I love the combination of humour and the more serious aspects of life. Now I am curious whether Éowyn gets her fear around Faramir sorted out before Aragorn and Éomer find them or whether Aragorn will have to prevent his Steward from being ripped apart by an enraged King of Rohan :) fliewatuet

Author's reply

hmmm, that is the question isn't it? Well, if I answered it would ruin the suspense... ;) And, I promisepromisepromise to try and get alllll the way to chapter 24 today. (you have to remember, i'm scrambling to write a last minute english paper too and have pity)

EomerofEastfold · 12 April 2004

I know, I know, I haven't been reviewing as I should. Same on me. Sorry. But bloody hell, you are terrible with those cliffhangers! Though, since others and I are complaining about it, that means you're doing well with your story-telling. Am very curious to see what it is that Faramir wants to show Eowyn. I have to admit, since Faramir was trying to figure out why Eowyn was shirking away from him, that he brought her to his room to try something, I don't know, bold. I know that sounds stupid, but I'm a guy, and you can blame me for that if you wish. Let's just hope Eomer doesn't find them there all the same, though.

Author's reply

Ha! you guessed Faramir's game. Guess he's not too wily after all. ;) He's gonna be bold pretty soon, but first he's gotta open up a bit to get her to trust him.

sqrt(-1) · 12 April 2004

Oh yes, and I forgot to mention, I just love your use of Old English in this story. It really adds something.

Author's reply

Thanks! Just wait till we (finally!!!) get to Rohan ;)

sqrt(-1) · 12 April 2004

I was going to complain about the cliffhangers, but if you're really going to post tomorrow already, then I'll just count myself lucky that you at least update quickly when you write them :) Good story, the only bone I have to pick with it is that Aragorn has spent his entire life (pretty much) preparing/being prepared to be king, and I think he would be a little bit more effective and less helpless than you've portrayed him....But the way you're doing things is pretty funny, so I guess I won't complain too loudly. :)

Author's reply

Well, I don't see Aragorn as completely helpless...after all, it's been a WHILE since he was Thorongil and there's no way he could be entirely familiar with Minas Tirith and the city's needs. Certainly Faramir is necessary or else why have a Steward at all? And, he's been rather busy with the war, too. Well, that's how I see things at least. Thanks for reading anyway. :)

Crimson · 12 April 2004

This is just mean of you. Come on! You can't leave it like this, damn it! What the heck was Faramir going to show her? Will he show it to her before her brother shows up? Enquiring readers want to know...

Author's reply

ahh, i have you just where i want you ;) you'll have your next chapter....TOMORROW! *cackles eeeevily*

BKB · 12 April 2004

Well, you certainly seem to understand the principles of cliff-hangers! Not only do you not tell what Faramir brought for Eowyn, but now you have her brother searching for her when she's in a situation that could be open to all kinds of misinterpretation. I'm waiting with baited breath. Keep up the good work.

Author's reply

*chuckles evily* :)

Jen · 9 April 2004

Yeah, another chapter! I really like the interaction between Faramir and Eowyn and the glimpse of Faramir's room. I guess he's a regular messy guy. At least his mess is made up of books and clothes, unlike some I know. Wondering furiously what he is going to show her:)

Author's reply

Yeah, I wanted to avoid Faramir being seen as perfect, which I think is really irritating. He's human and flawed, even in a fluffy story.

Crimson · 8 April 2004

These cliff hanger endings are killing me! I'm considering starting a pledge-a-thon to raise money to buy you a home computer so that you can post faster. Seriously, call 1-800-WWW-DELL and order one today! All this to say, great story. Keep the chapters coming -- the sooner (and longer) the better. My only bit of constructive criticism (and believe me, it's completely picayune -- so don't take it personally or anything) is to avoid using the word "okay" because it's a modern slang expression, and it's jarring to read twentieth century vernacular in a story set in Middle-earth (and which boasts witty repartee in Old English no less). Again, great job. And call Dell now...

Author's reply

LOL. sorry, i'm a starving college student or I would call. thanks for the constructive critism, frankly i wasnt aware id done that. i must just've gotten caught up in the story.

Carol · 8 April 2004

I'm enjoying this, it's funny and sweet. This chapter was interesting, contrasting Faramir's comparatively trivial offense of forgetting their meeting (though those things don't *feel* trivial at the time) with Eowyn's more serious problem of being afraid of intimacy. I thought it was funny that Faramir trotted out his new language skills, hoping it would earn him leniency! It probably didn't hurt, either, even if she did still pummel him.

Author's reply

Thanks, I'm totally loving writing this story. Awesome that you mention the conflict between them. I wasn't sure if it felt right yet, but I guess so. The next chapters go further into Eowyn's fears of intimacy and when I get around to Faramir's POV again, his own reactions to her. Oh, if I could only sit and type all day....

Jen · 7 April 2004

That was very funny. I love this story and check for it everyday. Thank you for the regular updates!

Author's reply

Wow! Thanks! You made my day ;) Welcome for the updates, but alas, my English grades will not be so thrilled, Chapter 20 came at the price of a rough draft of an essay....oh, what am I saying? I don't care. Fanfiction is much better. :)

Crimson · 7 April 2004

Great chapter! Keep 'em coming. I'm really enjoying this story.

Author's reply

Thanks, it's fun to write, to the point of weekends computer-less driving me insane ;)

Mysterious Jedi · 5 April 2004

Poor, poor Faramir.

Author's reply

yeah, kind of feel sorry for him. Don't worry, he's compensated in the future, I've just got some cute ideas.

Crimson · 5 April 2004

Update soon!

Author's reply

by this afternoon there will be at least one chap. hopefully two since my english class in cancelled, i have to go to psych. though :(

Chibi-Kaz · 5 April 2004

Ya know what my one comment on this chapter is? TOO SHORT! ;p :D What's Aragorn going to do, put the two of them in a training arena w/ blunted swords? (that's what I would do.....) Cheers, Chibi-Kaz

Author's reply

Yeah, I don't have a computer at home, so my time to write is limited (sucks cause I get some great ideas late at night). LMAO!!! Aragorn can't do that--Eowyn would kill Faramir. Though, I do promise more pummeling ;)

EomerofEastfold · 2 April 2004

That was nice to see Eowyn dining with the hobbits. Actually, it's refreshing to see *any* canon character that was not part of the fellowship interact with them, and in your case it was well done. One thing, though, is that Pippin is actually a year older than Eomer. Pippin was born in the year 2990 and Eomer in 2991. Just thought you might like to know.

Author's reply

Thanks. Actaully, that's more amusing. ;)

Chibi-Kaz · 2 April 2004

Oooo. Faramir is in TROUBLE! I'm surprised you chose to use Imrahil and his sons as the antagonistic note. After all, Imrahil is Faramir's uncle, and saves Faramir on the Pelennor fields in the books. Although you don't get a good idea of the real family interrelationships in the book, I certainly got the impression that Imrahil supported and liked Faramir. Did you see something different in the books? Also, Elphir I believe is already married in the books. I'm only pointing this out because you've been doing such an outstanding job at fitting this into cannon, I've been impressed. I especially love the heavy use of Old English. Anyway, last note: I'm fairly sure Dol Amroth is a principality of Gondor, not independant, just like Ithilien and Anorien. I really do enjoy reading this very very much. I very much enjoyed seeing Faramir loose his cool with Eomer and tear up the contract! :-D Though he might have mentioned that the tavern visit was with members of Eomer's Eored and he was learning Rohirric whilst getting blitzed.... ;-) Cheers, Chibi-Kaz

Author's reply

Thanks for the information...personally I don't think Imrahil hates Faramir, just using an opportunity. And thanks for the Elphir reminder. I looked him up...just can't understand how I missed the wife and kid(s).(crapcrapcrap) Anyway, he's not a major character, so, my bad. I won't be changing it, although I do find the entire thing annoying in Elphir wasn't my original idea for a rival to Faramir, but yet *another* OC. Trust me, there's going to be quite a few of them, mainly Rohirrim, and I wanted to use a real character...oh well, my bad again. Really, if you can hang on through a few minor snippets of Elphir and Imrahil, I swear he'll vanish and go back to his "real" life. Thanks for pointing out the errors, though! Reassuring to see someone caught me! LOL I spent the weekend irritated at myself.
