Finally, Pippin realizes how he feels for Diamond! This proves how drastic he can be, having to go all the way to Rohan to figure it out :P I sure hope to see another chapter soon! I know you said you have a case of writer's block, EEK! That's not good. I have nothing for you right now, but I'm gonna email you today...hopefully...lol. Talk to you later, Kate!

That was so neat the way you had Legolas' and Gimli's Dad's talking to each other in a civil manner! I guess if your kids are friends it is hard to avoid each other for too long! It seems like Gimli helped more then he may realize in getting Pippin to realize his feelings for Diamond! I can't wait to find out what happened!

So it took a dwarf and an elf to make Pippin see the light. I like that you included Gloin and Thranduil and that you have them getting along (though Gloin still brings up his imprisonment at need lol!).
Diamond's always been an elusive character, not much is mentioned about her at all. It's good you've given them some things in common that they can talk about, to bring them together as they help each other out.
This is a great story. I can't wait to read more.
Author's reply
Thanks for your review! I'm so glad Gloin and Thranduil went down well. I was quite hesitant about using them, especially Thranduil. I'm not so good with elves :P
Hopefully will have a new chapter out soon. I have no idea how long this story is going to run for!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
I'm so pleased! He's finally cottoned on!!!
I think you made the right decision to put the two chapters in that order, it kind of made more sense.
Am still loving the story, and can't wait for more!

Author's reply
He's not always so smart, that Pippin, lol. Now he just has to work out the right way to tell those feelings to Diamond, and considering how long it took him to realise them, it's not going to be so easy!
Originally, Pippin was going to come home at the end of "Living Without Pippin", which was why it was going to be chapter 8, but then it ended up being longer than I expected.

Loved Pippin greeting Gimli and his embarrassment when he realized he was speaking to the King of Mirkwood. Another good chapter.

I'm glad you liked these two chapters, GW. You should know by now that I'm a HUGE self-promotor. Anywhere I can refer to one of my other stories, I will :P I hope that Gloin and Thranduil went down well. It's the first time I've used them, and I wasn't so sure about Thranduil :P

That Merry is so clever. I love the way he presented the gift to the bride. I also enjoyed the fact that Estella knew what Merry was thinking and her reference to your other story when Merry fell asleep on her while drunk. Very nice chapter.

Whoever said elves and dwarves can't give romantic advice! I can't wait to see Pippin actually setting out to court Diamond. Feeling spoiled being able to read two chapters of this lovely story in as many days.
Author's reply
Everyone seems to think the elves are rather good at it, but I don't see why Gimli wouldn't be! He *is* rather infatuated with Galadriel after all!
I was writing these last two chapters at the same time - because I wasn't sure which order to put them in. I will *try* to get the next chapter out ASAP!

I guess it would be strange for the occupants of crickhollow to be one short! It is amusing that no one really wanted to attend the wedding, I guess folk get it in their minds that certain people are getting married and they don't like it when that changes! Looking forward to finding out what Pippin does on his little trip!
Author's reply
Pippin is also the type of presence that you would notice was missing! Hehehe, once I started writing about people not wanting to attend the wedding, I couldn't stop. There were probably more guests that did not want to be there than guests that did! Well, Celandine is out of the picture now, leaving Pippin for Diamond :P

I hadn't forgotten. It took me a little longer on this one because I was writing it at the same time as Chapter 8, and I couldn't decide which one I wanted to post first! They swapped positions at least three times before I decided to post "Living Without Pippin" first!

· Chapter 7: Living Without Pippin
Another lovely chapter. While there may be tension over Celandine's marriage now; I think it best for the long term. And although Pippin's absense was felt, his presence would have been far too awkward. Poor Diamond, I think she needed to get away to Long Cleeve as much as Pippin needed to put distance between him and the Shire. Somethings people only appreciate the value of another when they are separated; my parents figured out they loved each other in that way, so I hold great hope that Pippin and Diamond will have similiar revellations while apart.
Author's reply
I did consider having Diamond attend the wedding, but then decided against it. After all, it was more than likely that she would have ended up doing something *she* would regret. Plus, I was sure her brothers would have been missing her.
Pippin and Diamond are both to stubborn for their own good, and that's part of the reason that they aren't yet together, but I have plans for them yet. Thanks for reading :)

I'm really enjoying this, and I like the unexpected turn at the end! Poor Pip, nothing's ever simple for him! I'm looking forward to seeing how he's going to sort his feelings out. I feel a bit sorry for Diamond being left behind though - I wonder if her feelings will also become clearer while he's away!
Author's reply
I'm glad you're enjoying the story, and thanks for reviewing! Nothing is ever simple for Pippin, I think, because us Pippin-lovers enjoy making things difficult for him! I'll be the first to confess I enjoy it :P

Interesting custom. I didn't know about the flowers thing. You have educated me while entertaining me. I hope his trip helps Pippin decide what he wants to do. I also think it's better if he isn't at the wedding in his present state of mind.
Author's reply
I didn't know about it either, but when I read it, I had to change something in another story. I think it's a sweet tradition.
No, probably not the best of ideas for the Knight of Gondor to attend the wedding. I just have visions of him pulling his sword on Sancho. That was one of the reasons I decided against having him attend.
I'm glad this chapter worked well. It was never one of my intended directions, but one day I just thought of it!

He will be with Diamond eventually, I just have to decide how and when! Pippin just needs some time with his single lad friends - perhaps a certain dwarf anf elf (shhh, I didn't just say that) :P

Poor Pippin, hes pretty confused. Is he angry at Celandine marrying someone else or that he is starting to have feelings for Diamond and is unsure of them after Celandine. Either way, its probably best he not be at that wedding.
Author's reply
I think it's a bit of both, but in my personal opinion, he doesn't have much of a right to be angry at Celandine for marrying someone else. (Though, of course, that may just be because I'm in a bit of a I-hate-guys mood at the moment). I'm still trying to work out how he's going to realise his feelings for Diamond, not to mention how she's going to realise hers!
Thanks for reviewing :)

Thank you, GW. I'm glad you're enjoying the story! I certainly *do* have plans for Pippin and Diamond, but I haven't decided whether Pervinca in the story will have some role to play. I suppose I should give her the chance to play matchmaker - she's always missed out in my other stories :P

It's good to hear you enjoyed Diamond's story. I was a little hesitant about how to write this chapter, especially considering I'm writing the full version of Diamond's tale at the same time. I love it! That is, indeed, a beautiful name. I enjoyed the interplay between Pippin and Merry in this chapter. It is a rare writer who can have them jesting at one another before it turns into a farce, and you have balanced it perfectly.
Author's reply
Thank you so much! :) I could never imagine that Merry and Pippin would not have any fights at all, but I assume little arguements and teasing like this would occur all the time.
I'm glad you liked Meriwyn's name. I've seen plenty of stories where Faramir and Eowyn have named a son after Meriadoc, but no daughters. :P

Pervinca seems a more subtle matchmaker than MY relatives. She has pretty good instincts towards couples. The conversation between Merry and Pippin concerning their namesakes was adorable. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Since I enjoy matchmaking, it seems logical to make Pervinca in my stories enjoy it! I've always managed to be fairly subtle too :P

Pervinca,
For a 'filler chapter', as you call it, this was really quite entertaining. Sam and Rose seem to be quite the married couple...I still chuckle at Sam's talk about 'the right timing'.
It'll be interesting to see how Diamond faces her fears at Bag End. I look forward to seeing how this story progresses. Good work!
Author's reply
Thanks Roger :) I'm a firm believer that if a chapter has to be a filler, then it should at least be a little entertaining, even if it's just a humorous little piece. To be honest, I wasn't completely sure about Sam's "the right timing" comment, but I figured it was subtle enough for him. Sam never struck me as someone to be particularly blantant about such things :P

Poor, Diamond, it is terrible that she can't enjoy Bag End under new management! I hope that she is able to get it all in the open then there won't be any hard feelings. I like how you wrote Pippin playing with Ellie and holding Frodo! It does seem like he would be one to play with the kids, I liked this "Merry laughed. “Gracious, Sam, don’t say such things. I would never submit my children to such horror.”' Looking forward to more!

She'll have to go the Bag-End eventually, and I do have something planned for that :D And, yes, good old Uncle Pippin is certainly the King of the Kids! I could always imagine him being that way, and making a great Dad :)

· Chapter 3: Sharing Secrets
I like that Pippin and Diamond have already told each other everything! There are some stories out there where they know nothing about the other's past, or at least no one knows what happened during the war. I appreciate those because they want their spouses and family to remain pure, if you will. But I love when they share all and there are no secrets! Funny, you would think that Merry would be the one to remember to write everyone and Pippin would forget! I like that Eomer didn't know they were coming and Aragorn did! Looking forward to more! thank you!
Author's reply
I was just saying in another reply, that Merry is often the writer, which is why I chose to use Pippin instead. It could happen :P Also glad you like the development of Pippin and Diamond's relationship. I've read a lot of stories like that too, and though I enjoy them, this is my version, lol!

I thoroughly enjoyed this fic...I am rather fond of post-Quest fics that deal with the hobbits after the War of the Ring.
I especially liked the touch with the beds...making note of Merry and Pippin's new height was a great addition to this story.
I look forward to seeing how this tale turns out.
Author's reply
Thanks for the review! I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out too! I have no idea where it will end up! :) I'm just going where it takes me. Hobbit post-quest fics are always fun to write, but the only problem is, you can use all of the characters! Frodo, Gandalf and Bilbo are gone! I will, however, try to have cameos by the other fellowship members and other friends like that. Again, thanks for reading!
