Loved it! A very interesting idea, and not one that I've seen before. You know, it took me a while to work out what the blood actually came from! I'm tired - so I'll blame that. Checking your reviews, I saw you replied saying that there would be more to come - is that right? I really hope so, because I would love to see this continued! When Merry has a plan, it can only lead to trouble :P (but, of course, it's trouble of the friendship kind)

Omigosh, how chilling and poignant! "Pippin bit his lip, imagining Sam huddling over Frodo, trying to shelter him as the sky filled with fire." Wow. Beautifully written.
