Lindelea! I'm reading through your older stories now and this one is so funny and relatable. But the biggest question is: how did they get their boots on in the first place? Cheers

I'm so glad you enjoyed this rather outlandish story! Hmmm... how did they get those boots on in the first place? Could it be payback for some earlier prank, perhaps? Though I can see Frodo persuading Sam to help him, those two were probably well oiled by the end of the celebration, just like the younger cousins. So... Aragorn? One of Pippin's fellow guardsmen? A Rider of Rohan and a Citadel Guardsman working together? A certain Wizard? ...so much scope for the imagination...

🤣 This was hysterical. Poor confused drunk/hung-over Hobbits….

Where did those boots come from? I wonder... And I wonder even more about this: No hobbit in the history of the Shire has ever died with boots on,’ Merry said. It wasn’t strictly true, but Pippin didn’t need to know that. Who may this have been? Really nice idea! Poor Pippin, he really can't know how wearing boots is like, and in his state... Enjoyable! Don't know who it may have been, but I'm sure there's a story behind it! Thanks!

*giggling hysterically* Oh, oh, poor Hobbits! Dying, indeed! No, not dying, just more drunk than anybody has a right to be! Too cute! God bless, Galadriel

Goodness, yet another review that missed my mailbox! What *is* it with AOL? Thanks!

Drunken folk of any race seem to be so much alike. Melodrama, repetition.... Poor Merry. Now, how on earth did the two of them end up wearing boots?

Author's reply

Don't know why there are no review replies on this story. Did the author miss the reviews, did the author's email go wonky, or is the author simply rude? (The author is tired and needs to go to bed, actually, and is becoming somewhat punchy.) G'night!

Needed a laugh tonight and went in search of it and came across this story! I had read it before, but I never tire of this one. Way too funny!

Very belated thanks! Was looking through some stories, avoiding what I really ought to be doing, and noticed I was remiss in replying to reviews. Hope this finds you well. Have finally got to your stories on my want-to-read list, hoorah!

That was certianly worth a few laughs! I want to know whose boots they were wearing and there is certainly a story behind how they got on hobbit feet in the first place! It was delightful! I like how Pippin thought he was dying and then that Merry was! His poor drunken mind couldn't take it all! Thank you!

So much scope for the imagination... Frodo? A guardsman? A Rider of Rohan conspiring together with a Citadel Guard? A certain Wizard? A King, maybe even? (LOL)

LOL! That was cute. This one sure left a lot of unanswered questions. I'd love to know how they ended up wearing boots to start with, and who they belong to. What happened the next morning? Guess we'll never know. Oh well. This was great fun. Thanks. Connie.

Author's reply

Thanks so much! (I really wonder what took place the next morning. Were the boots still there, or did someone remove them by then?)

ROTFL! This is hilarious; and we are left to wonder--who did this to them? Legolas, with or without Gimli's help, could have been his kind of prank. Or Aragorn? Or even cousin Frodo? Maybe Eowyn? Those two have been up to so much mischief there has got to be a long line waiting to get them back. What would be really funny is if the boots have disappeared by the time they really wake up, and they are left to wonder, did it happen or not?

Author's reply

Legolas! I hadn't even thought of Legolas! ...and Gimli, working together – I wouldn't put it past them. I originally thought of Gandalf for some reason (I don't remember the thought process anymore), though it could as easily have been Aragorn (can you imagine a tipsy King and Steward working together on this project?) or a guardsman or a Rider of Rohan working together with a Citadel Guard. I imagined two completely different "next" chapters, one where they woke up with the boots on and went on a Quest to find the boot owners, and the other where they woke up and the boots had disappeared. But alas, I never wrote them down. Maybe someday, when I've wrestled all the existing WIPs into submission... Thanks!

Oh, what a dilemma! What a tragedy! What a party that must have been! Wonderful. I had a grin on my face throughout this whole delight of a story.

Author's reply

I'm so glad. Sometimes what we really need is a good laugh. And really, that must have been an incredible party!
