PIppinfan1988 · 28 June 2004 · Chapter 5: Out of Hiding

Poor Pippin! Everyone knows him just a bit too well! :-P I never forgot about your magnificent story; just had some guests from out of town over the weekend...love this story! Pippinfan

Author's reply

Hope you had a great weekend with your company and thanks for reviewing. I'm glad that you are enjoying this one. It used to be several small stories so it is good to know that it fits together. LOL Experimenting again.

Hai Took · 28 June 2004 · Chapter 10: Battling the Bullroarer

Oh my, Pippin sure is playing the role of the hero lately isn't he? I like the way you wrote Merry, even though he was hurt he still tried to encourage Pippin in what he was doing, and pushed Pippin out of the way of that crazy pony! I'm glad that Merry is doing better, a nasty wound that will no doubt take longer to heal then Merry wants it to! Looking forward to more, thank you!

Author's reply

Merry is used to being the protector. I am sure he would have a very hard time doing otherwise. Thank you for reading and reviewing.

Pervinca · 28 June 2004 · Chapter 10: Battling the Bullroarer

Ah, so finally we hear the tale of what happened to place Merry in the sick bed! I can honestly say, it's not what I expected. Seems that Merry and Pippin have taken on the Bullroarer in more ways than one! - Pervinca

Author's reply

I thought that this might, at least be different. LOL I try for different. Glad I surprised you.

melilot hill · 28 June 2004 · Chapter 10: Battling the Bullroarer

I was sure I left a review for chapter 9. Ah well, either I'm crazy or this site is(it's probably me :-)) I liked both chapters and I'm glad you finally let us know what happened to Merry, even though it was a nasty accident.

Author's reply

I have been having trouble leaving comments too, but not on this site, on LJ. Who knows how all of this works. Thanks for the lovely review.

Tialys · 27 June 2004 · Chapter 10: Battling the Bullroarer

Sorry I couldn't come back to review this one sooner, but I had to leave for church. It was really weird to picture Pippin sitting at a huge desk as Thain with a giant glass painting like that behind him. Of course, I didn't have much time to do that. Good ol' scarf ^_^

Author's reply

I was glad to be able to use the scarf, after all, I don't recall seeing any hobbits with belts so without the scarf, Merry might have been in BIG trouble. Thanks for reviewing!

Elenar · 27 June 2004 · Chapter 10: Battling the Bullroarer

Poor Merry and Pippin. I am so happy that Merry is okay. I loved how Pippin was talking to himself without realizing it and Merry encouraging him. Can't wait for more.

Author's reply

Thanks for the reviews and I am very glad that you are enjoying this. More will be coming soon.

Tialys · 27 June 2004 · Chapter 9: Party Conversation

Wonderful chapter! The whole conversation on dresses and 'Pippin’s fashion knowledge' was cute and I love the image of Pippin slumping so he will be the same height as Frodo. It must be odd to be younger yet taller than most of the people you know.

Author's reply

Thank you. I figured that you couldn't live with that many sisters and not pick up a thing or two about frocks. LOL I suspect Pippin might have been a bit self-concious about his new height for a while anyway. Thanks for reading. I'm getting ready to post more in a few minutes.

auntiemeesh · 26 June 2004 · Chapter 9: Party Conversation

I'm becoming very curious about Merry's accident. Or I should say, more curious, as I've been wanting more details since chapter one! All these teasing little hints you give out are maddening. I'm really enjoying this :)

Author's reply

The details of Merry's accident are on the way. I was working on that bit last night and hope to have it up soon. Thanks for reading this one.

Pervinca · 25 June 2004 · Chapter 8: The Wizard

Hehehehe, I wondered when you would get to this one. I loved it on your LJ and I still love it now! The look on Gandalf's face when he opened the present and read that title must have been priceless! Poor Pippin's not having much of a good time at his 30th birthday though :P We Pippin-lovers just love doing horrible things to him, don't we? - Pervinca

Author's reply

I'm glad you remembered and enjoyed this chapter. I hope what I am doing with this works. I have been taking the little birthday fics and putting them in here as a sort of "remember when" deal. I have a bit more to do and so I am hoping I get through it without mucking it all up! Thanks for reading it again here.

Elenar · 23 June 2004 · Chapter 8: The Wizard

Great story. Poor Pippin, it just doesn't seem to be his day. I hope his luck with Diamond gets better.

Author's reply

It can't get much worse, can it? But at least he's through with the gift-giving and he's saved a life. That's got to help in some way or another.

hobbit_lass · 23 June 2004 · Chapter 8: The Wizard

Again, my memory did not fail me in remembering how cute that story was but I loved the stuff you added at the beginning, esp the filling up the corners with cheese! Great Job! mc

Author's reply

Cheese is a great corner-filler! I use it often for my own corners. Glad you think the frame-work is working. That was my main concern. Thanks

hobbit_lass · 23 June 2004 · Chapter 7: Apples

Pippin to the rescue! I personally would have probably debated a bit more before I saved Lilac, but then I am evil! LOL! You showed that Pip is a very caring person even when he has reason not to be- I liked Merry's line about Sam waiting so long to check on Frodo- it was great- Also the apple prank and Frodo's suggestion of how to stop it from occuring was wonderful! Going on to read the next chapter! mc

Author's reply

Frodo may be giving more good advice before this is over. With Merry in bed, someone has to take charge. Oh, and I would have let Lilac suffer a bit more too. Couldn't see that from Pip though.

Bodkin · 23 June 2004 · Chapter 7: Apples

Pippin should listen to Cousin Frodo - he knows the score! I agree with Pearl - Lilac is not worth the effort (but I suppose Pippin couldn't let her expire without making an effort).

Author's reply

Pippin probably acted without thinking on this one. Someone was in trouble and he did what he could without considering anything else. I am more like Pearl. I would have let her wait a bit longer. It did solve Pippin's probelm in a way though. It puts the attention on Lilac and Pippin's rescue rather than the apple bobbing.

melilot hill · 23 June 2004 · Chapter 8: The Wizard

I'm only reviewing chapter 7, because I already left a review for "The Wizard" in your lj ;-) But seriously, that was great once again. Poor Pippin being tortured like that. I can imagine how he must have felt.

Author's reply

Sometimes others can really tease too much without meaning to. It was a bit like Estella thought it was, it sounded funny until she saw how it was affecting Pippin and then she began to think it might not have been such a funny idea. Thanks for the review!

Tialys · 23 June 2004 · Chapter 8: The Wizard

Pippin's reaction to his guests eating the apples was sad. Before, I'm sure he would have just laughed it off and eaten one as well, but the journey seemed to have changed him so he couldn't react like that anymore. Gandalf attending hobbit birthday parties was such a cute idea and the book was priceless. Poor Pippin, though. You've got to let him get his dance with Diamond before the end ^_^ ...Tialys

Author's reply

I think Pippin was just worried about what Diamond thought of him and trying not to embarrass himself further. Don't worry, things always work out in the end, or at least they do in my stories. LOL

Hai Took · 23 June 2004 · Chapter 8: The Wizard

Poor Pippin, his embarrassment over the apples that kept appearing on the table! How kind of Frodo to stand next to him, after all he has faced and done he gets too embarrassed to hand out his gifts! Pearl saying that it was kind of Pippin to help Lilac as she might have let her choke! Freddy saying that he was not going to get in trouble for allowing Merry out of bed, or that he would rather be run through with Merry's sword then to face his mum if he got up! I'm sure it was a deligh for Pippin to have a wizard at his seventh birthday! The Gandalf kept glancing at Merry, wondering if the present would be safe, perfect! I wonder what Gandalf ended up doing with that book? Looking forward to more! Thank you!

Author's reply

Thank you for the wonderful reviews. I am hoping to post more tomorrow. It might be interesting to know what Gandalf did with that book. mmmmm, maybe a small plot bunny?

Lindelea · 23 June 2004 · Chapter 8: The Wizard

You had me nearly perishing with curiosity. A cookbook? A book on gardening? A history of pipe-weed? LOL, perfection, once again. Your hobbits are certainly hobbity, and your Gandalf rings true.

Author's reply

As you might have guessed, I am rather fond of Gandalf so I thank you for the compliment. Also thank you for reading this one. Glad it is giving you a laugh or two.

Lindelea · 23 June 2004 · Chapter 7: Apples

"I hope it’s something to eat," Fredegar grinned. "Sam seems to have abandoned us." Great for a chuckle. And the favourite son-only son comment was perfect. The only thing more perfect was the three eating happily at the end of the chapter. Very hobbity indeed!

Author's reply

Hobbits that are eating are happy hobbits!

Pearl Took · 23 June 2004 · Chapter 8: The Wizard

Pippin was right, it was the perfect gift for Gandalf!! And I love the older Pippin saving Lilac's life. After loosing all the games his whole life, and dumping water all over, it is good he got to do something impressive. Great fun!!

Author's reply

Pippin always winds up in unlikely situations but he does seem to manage to come out on top in the end. I could just see a seven-year-old Pippin wanting to buy a book on magic for a wizard. I thank you for the wonderful reviews.

Elenar · 22 June 2004 · Chapter 6: To and From

The story gets better and better. I loved this chapter. I couldn't stop laughing at Pippin's walking stick.

Author's reply

Imagine giving a huge pole to a five-year-old! LOL I just had to do it! Glad it made you laugh and thanks for the reviews.

Auntiemeesh · 22 June 2004 · Chapter 6: To and From

I love the idea of Pippin listening to the packages. I have an aunt who does the same thing. She always knows what's inside. We have to get very creative to trick her. I'm betting Pippin will be the same when he's a bit older :)

Author's reply

I think half of the fun of presents is trying to guess before you open. I suspect that your Aunt thinks so too. Glad you enjoyed this.

hobbit_lass · 22 June 2004 · Chapter 6: To and From

I loved it!! Pippin's feud with Lilac of the missing tooth and how she rewarded Vince for tying him to the chair! LOL! (that part reminded me a bit of me and my brother) I liked how noone wanted to admit that they hadn't been watching Pippin while he was "listening" to the presents! That was so cute! Everyone's reactions to their *specially chosen* gifts were great! Sam was so adorable and I loved Esme's reaction to her sling shot! You are such a talented writer! You have a very special gift of lacing humor and love through all your stories in a way that is just amazing. Bravo! mc

Author's reply

You write a wonderful review! I love the part were I'm talented. LOL Thank you so much for all of the reviews and I am so glad that you enjoyed this. Seems some folks liked their surprise gifts more than they might have liked their chosen gifts. Pearl's pipeweed may have been an exception, but I think Sam was very happy with his tea service. LOL Thanks for everything!

hobbit_lass · 22 June 2004 · Chapter 5: Out of Hiding

It sucks when everyone knows your hiding places! LOL! I liked everyone crowding in and automatically knowing that Pip would be under the bed, and the remarks about Pip's previously worn clothes were great! Can't wait to see what happens next! mc

Author's reply

They know him too well. He can't pull anything off with this bunch around. Thanks so much for all of these lovely reviews.

hobbit_lass · 22 June 2004 · Chapter 4: Water, Water, Everywhere!

Poor Pippin- He has the worst luck with party games! LOL! Another great chapter, I loved the line, "but put her in a room full of Tooks and it all came back to her. "- about Esmerelda, and the description of Diamond and her hair was lovely:) I laughed when Saradoc looked at the clothes on the floor and then looked at Merry, and Merry's response that he hadn't seen him since- Great Stuff! Oh and the bit with Pip and his sisters at the beginning was excellent, Family always tries to matchmake in *real life*, so that made that a great little scene! Going on to read more! mc

Author's reply

I figured that Merry would be clever enough to avoid the lie if he could with his father. I also didn't think that Saradoc would be looking too hard to begin with. The accent thing was me thinking of something that you said about how when you've been with your mom, your accent comes out more. I figured that might be true with Esmeralda too. I figured Pippin's sisters would want to help out a bit and that he might get more help than he was looking for. You gotta love family!

hobbit_lass · 22 June 2004 · Chapter 3: Another Visitor

I love it! The last line was marvelous, it brought a huge smile to my face and when Merry asked if Pip had managed to get an apple and Pip answered what do you think, I cracked up! Bravo! Going on to read more, I want to know what happened! mc

Author's reply

Glad you are enjoying it because there is more to come. Thanks for reading it!
