Antane · 8 August 2011 · Chapter 53: My Rose
Sweet! He's got it bad, doesn't he, if he thinks Rose outshines the Lady! That's a hobbit in love. I wonder if Rose knows how very lucky she is. Love this. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Oh, yes, he's got it bad - not that he (or Rose) is complaining! ;) Rose certainly knows she's the luckiest lass in the Shire. Glad you enjoyed this!
Dreamflower · 8 August 2011 · Chapter 53: My Rose
Awwww...That's is so sweet! I could just see the look on Sam's face!
Author's reply
Thanks, Dreamflower! Sam is such a romantic, isn't he? :D
periantari · 7 August 2011 · Chapter 53: My Rose
awww how sweet! Very nice moment described for Sam. :D Question-- Is Rosie cousins with Sam? :needs to consult family trees: This is so fitting for a b-day gift- Thanks so much! :Cherishes this:
Author's reply
Yep. They're second cousins. :) I'm glad you enjoyed your present, dear! Rose and Sam are such a special couple.
shirebound · 7 August 2011 · Chapter 53: My Rose
With each step she takes, I feel the tension slip away. By the time she’s standing next to me, I feel myself grinning, glowing. What a joyous scene. I'm so happy for Sam.
Author's reply
Sam and Rose are the perfect couple, so right for each other in every way. Glad you enjoyed this!
6336 · 28 July 2011 · Chapter 24: Deconstructing the Red Book
Merry not admitting to knowing Dernhelm was Eowyn is similar to the Eored reffering to him as Master Bag. They knew he was there, but were not looking at him, as it were! More deconstruction please. Lynda
Author's reply
Merry's more than willing to look a little dense for the sake of the DRAMATIC REVEAL! :-D Glad you enjoyed this!
Larner · 23 February 2011 · Chapter 52: A Day of Rest
Ah--a miserable day turned wonderful in the end! Heh! Excellent day off for our beloved Sam.
Author's reply
Sam's family knows how to make him feel better. :D I'm sure he (and Rose) will enjoy his time off more once he's feeling better. ;) Thanks for reading!
Andrea · 18 February 2011 · Chapter 52: A Day of Rest
What a sweet little story! I especially liked the comfort part :-) And I loved it when Sam's children read a bedtime story to HIM. They were very thoughtful.
Author's reply
Thank you, dear! The comfort is the best part. :) The children enjoyed getting to read a story to their father for a change. They take good care of their father. :D
cookiefleck · 16 February 2011 · Chapter 52: A Day of Rest
I am glad that my birthday inspired you to write such a delightful hobbity story featuring Sam! Your tone and imagery here is perfect - warm and loving with more than a touch of humor. I really like the image of Sam toddling about the smial wearing a nightgown, and even all tucked up by Rose in bed, snug as a bug. And there are so many fun lines to which we can all relate one way or another, such as "... willed the fire to stir itself. It didn’t." or the banter between Sam and Rose. Thank you so much, dear friend... this is a gem!
Author's reply
I'm glad you enjoyed your present! Any opportunity to get Sam snug and coddled is to be savored. :D Sam walking around the smial in his nightgown is probably rare, even less showing up to the dinner table like that. lol! Fires can be stubborn that way, can't they. ;) You're most welcome, dearest. Thanks for being such a wonderful friend. (hugs)
shirebound · 16 February 2011 · Chapter 52: A Day of Rest
What a darling story, so full of love! And I just *know* that Rose would have "never-ending pockets". :)
Author's reply
Rose is a lass prepared for everything! Thank you for your lovely comments! It was a lot of fun to write. :)
Althea · 16 February 2011 · Chapter 52: A Day of Rest
It's wonderful to see Sam so loved and cared for. I love that his children read him a bedtime story.
Author's reply
Sam should be pampered every day, but of course he'd never put up with that. The children enjoyed getting to be the ones to read their father to sleep. :D Thanks for reading!
Antane · 16 February 2011 · Chapter 52: A Day of Rest
Sweet! Now they can read Roverandom to their dad next. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
I enjoy the idea that the other stories Tolkien wrote can fit into ME as tales the characters would tell each other. :D Thanks for reading!
Dreamflower · 16 February 2011 · Chapter 52: A Day of Rest
*grin* What a lovely bit of h/ccc! I love seeing Sam being coddled by his wife and kids! Rosie really does know her hubby very well! I love that she brought him only personal letters! And the kids reading him Farmer Giles of Ham is hilarious! That really is a hobbity sort of story, isn't it? It'd be fun to know what was in some of those letters!
Author's reply
:D Thanks, dear! Sam is deserving of coddling, and his family enjoy the opportunity to take care of him. Rose wasn't about to let him work when he should be focusing on getting better. I like to think that Tolkien's other stories would be tales that are well-known in ME, and Farmer Giles is very hobbity in tone. We know Sam enjoyed the letters - just what the healer ordered. ;)
UTfrog · 27 December 2010 · Chapter 51: In Times Old and New
I so love newlyweds. Thanks for a touching tale.
Author's reply
You're welcome, UTfrog! I'm glad you enjoyed this!
Larner · 26 December 2010 · Chapter 51: In Times Old and New
Ah, but such a splendid reason for being late! And who cares in the end? Let the others laugh--these two are in love, and deserve to be so!
Author's reply
Exactly! I don't think either one of them will be caring what others think anymore! The others are clearly just jealous. ;) Thanks for reading!
Dreamflower · 26 December 2010 · Chapter 51: In Times Old and New
Oh, this is utterly delightful from beginning to end! I love how much they are in love, and all of the delightful innuendo, and the fade-to-black at the end! My kind of love story! Thanks! And then there are the other parts, the traditions, the thinking of the Troubles and what had occurred during that time. I'd not thought of the Ruffians setting those sorts of traps for hobbits-- but that's exactly the sort of thing they'd do, isn't it? Best of all were your songs! You know I love to see the characters singing in fic, just the way they did in canon, and you did a marvelous job with those! Thank you so much, dear!!
Author's reply
You're welcome, Dreamflower! I'm so glad you like it, especially after waiting so long! ((hugs)) Pervinca and Everard are very much head over heels for each other - and enjoying every minute of it. They even enjoy their arguments! :P I think those traps would only be set in the Tooklands - the parts the ruffians could get into at any rate - and along routes they knew the rebels to take. No point in using them where the hobbits weren't giving trouble. It was fun trying to think of the various traditions and some of the hobbit-equivalents of our Christmas stories. :D Three guesses who the Stooge of the Tooklands is! heh! I wrote that first song last year while I was trying to write this story. I had completely forgotten about it! I'm glad you enjoyed them both, as I always love your songs.
shirebound · 26 December 2010 · Chapter 49: After Cormallen
“Rest well, my friends,” Aragorn said. He kissed them each on the brow. “Food will be brought to you shortly. I will check on you at luncheon.” “Thanks Strider,” Frodo and Sam said as one. “The thanks is mine,” Aragorn said, pride filling his heart as he looked up his brave friends. This is so lovely. I'm just insatiable when it comes to gentle tales about Cormallen.
Author's reply
Thanks, Shirebound! It's reassuring knowing that they will be well looked after by their friends after all their hardships.
Antane · 26 December 2010 · Chapter 50: In the Shadow of Arda
What a neat story for us to be able to experience the eclipse also! Love about Sam always being able to see the beauty in things. I think that's one of the reasons he can keep on loving his master on the Quest - because he can always see that beauty even the Ring tries to destroy it. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
It must have been something to see! Hopefully, I'll get to see it next year. Sam is such a dear, and he sees things purely. Thanks for reading!
cookiefleck · 26 December 2010 · Chapter 50: In the Shadow of Arda
I really liked this... thanks!
Author's reply
You're welcome! :D
Aiwen · 24 December 2010 · Chapter 6: If I Were a Dark Lord
Howl! This is hilarious. The "if I was a dark lord game" is fun... but a dark lord by definition would think differently from you and I so it is rather academic. I mean "dark lord spends all their time and energy on trying to reduce and adapt to climate change, adapt to oil depletion, relieve poverty and fix the excesses of capitalism" just doesn't work. The postulated Dark Lady Aiwen just doesn't end up being dark.
Author's reply
Nope, we could never be Dark Lords, and neither could the Gamgee children. They're on the opposite end of the spectrum! Thanks for reading!
Larner · 23 December 2010 · Chapter 50: In the Shadow of Arda
We could see some of the eclipse the other night, but we had wind and clouds and couldn't see quite everything. They can be wonderful! Love Sam's reaction!
Author's reply
We couldn't see it at all, but I'm glad Frodo and Sam did! Sam is such a darling. ;) Glad you enjoyed this!
6336 · 22 December 2010 · Chapter 50: In the Shadow of Arda
Oh, that was neat. I do like young Sam and Frodo stories, what a pity the Ring had to raise it's ugly head and spoil everything for them. Joyous Yule, Lynda
Author's reply
It is a pity. Perhaps they'll get to see an eclipse in Aman together. :) Thanks for reading!
shirebound · 22 December 2010 · Chapter 50: In the Shadow of Arda
Thank you for letting us experience this wonderful treat! Dear Gandalf, making sure 'his' hobbits didn't miss such a glorious event. And your Sam is such a dear. If we couldn't see the eclipse in person (and it's *still* raining!), seeing it with the hobbits is definitely the next best thing. *hugs you*
Author's reply
You're welcome, dear! Gandalf takes care of 'his' hobbits very well. Sam certainly enjoyed himself. I imagine he'll be talking the Gaffer's ear off about this for several weeks to come. :) Maybe next year, we'll get to see it with them. :D ((hugs))
harrowcat · 22 December 2010 · Chapter 50: In the Shadow of Arda
Now that was a treat for all of us GF. I didn't get to see the eclipse either - Too cloudy. *Pouts*
Author's reply
Thank you, GF! At least someone got to see it, and they have an enjoyable time of it. :D
Lindelea · 26 October 2010 · Chapter 49: After Cormallen
Another lovely story, full of comfort. "Not worse" seems to be the phrase of the day. I'd say more but there's a dog barking at me to go outside. Thanks!
Author's reply
It was fun to write some fluff, for all it wanted to be angsty, lol! I wouldn't be surprised if other things were found to be "not worse" throughout the day. :P Thanks for reading!
