I had second thoughts on reading this for you explicitly said that this is not a happy story. It is not a happy story, not entirely, but the ending gives me so much hope for Legolas' well-being now that his dear Bandy is finally with him. How I wish for a sequel, to know that Legolas has swiftly recuperated and is contented and rejuvenated from all his worries and sorrows. You are extremely wonderful and talented for making us, readers, feel, and symphatize with your characters. Now I want to walk under trees and feel the soft breeze in the air. Your stories make me long for something I am not sure of. Thank you for giving us the wonderful world of the Green Knight. You are an extremely talented weaver of stories.

Wow. That was heartbreaking! Moreso than I expected, to be honest, even though we were warned that this was not a happy story. I admit that I definitely tired of the letter format as it went on, especially at the more defining moments (Laustaire standing Legolas up at the joust, for one, and her behaviour at the feast afterwards) but at the same time, it is no easy feat to work within a style that limits how you can tell your story. Thank you for your hard work to write this and share it with us. You are very talented!

All I can say is, "Hear! Hear!" Brilliantly put.

Nessa · 8 February 2005 · Chapter 99999: Apologia Slashaphobia

hey there. i left a review of The Green Knight, also admitting i dont normally review the stories i read, mostly because i read all the time. also, i have read stories that were ok at best, and some that were really great stories. after i sent you TGK review, you promptly replied, and left me the names of other stories you had. i looked them up,and ive read those too. i still stand on MY belief that you are a very talented writer. each story ive read has been very good, and left no questions in my mind, nor a bad taste in my mouth. i fully understood.i agree too with you that Americans have totally, for the most part anyway, lost the meanings of "love" and "sex".i had no problems with any of your stories.if readers of your stories dont get it,or see it any different than you intended it,then for one they dont know Tolkien's writings too well, and for another thing....their minds are probably in the gutter. just my opinion, but i think you should keep up the good work, and keep writing as you feel.i for one find it hard to stop on one of your stories even to do things that i must. be assured when i'm done with my chores,i'm right back to the story. it would be great if everyone could know the meaning and the difference between love, and sex,and also word that as well as you have on this last page after this story.now....got any more stories i can read? have a great night, and thanks for the great stories. Nessa :)

Setrinan · 22 September 2004 · Chapter 46

Well, that was a beautiful piece of literature if ever did I see one before...

Duchess · 21 September 2004 · Chapter 46

Ah, a happy ending at the last. Legolas WILL be all right now, I'm sure of it. *g* This has been a fantastic story, Le Rouret and I'm so very glad you posted it where we could read it. *vbg* Thank you very much and {{{hugs}}} for a job well done. :):):)

Twilight Unicorn · 20 September 2004 · Chapter 46

[stares off in blissful happiness] Just gotta say that this was a wonderful story to read. It had me laughing, crying, angry, and a whole lot of other emotions. Well done. You are definitely amoung the top ten of my favorite authors.

Rede · 20 September 2004 · Chapter 46

Okay, THAT'S IT! you've sucessfully made me blubber like a whale with only that last line. Darn you. And bravo for a completely wonderful set of stories!

elliska · 19 September 2004 · Chapter 46

Great story and I am very relieved by the ending. :) It could have been much sadder. I'm glad in the end we see Legolas with hope. You did a great job with this story. The use of letters and the language style are both very difficult things too pull off and you did both exceedingly well. And I think the idea of changing to dialogue for the last chapter was very effective stylistically. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the way you told it. Great job!

Lamiel · 19 September 2004 · Chapter 46

Oh, this is a perfect ending to the tale. I'm glad for the change from the letter format, if only so that we can see Legolas' astonishment and happiness firsthand. Beautifully done, and a perfect fade-out. We know that all will be well, eventually, and it is a delight to see Bandobras back again. I particularly loved Gimli's kiss on Legolas' brow, and Bandobras' - they're so caught up in the moment they probably weren't even aware of it, and I bet the Dwarf would deny it later if he were asked. But it was a lovely gesture. Thank you for saving Legolas from the marriage, and thank you for this reunion with his friends. Wishing you good luck and clear skies for your next endeavor (and no more troubling romances).

Mirari · 19 September 2004 · Chapter 46

And as I have been lurking, I think I should pop out of the void again to pay my respects to the last chapter. ^^ A beautiful ending for a sorrowful story. And now from your comments to me from an earlier chapter, I am most curious to read that story you mentioned - the one in which 'bugger off' came to mind. ;) Might I know where that one is listed?

Well, if you really really want to risk it ... go to scribeoz.com under my fics (Le Rouret) and read Pottymouth. Not for the faint of heart! But people who've reviewed it have really loved it. Green Knight, Tent Mates, and Pottymouth are probably the three best fics I've ever written. Thanks for your reviews, whether you read anything else or not! Le Rouret

Ms. Whatsit · 19 September 2004 · Chapter 46

I'm glad this had a happy ending. I enjoyed this story very much, Le Rouret.

LOTR lover · 19 September 2004 · Chapter 46

Well, you were right, Le Rouret: this is not a happy story. No wonder poor Legolas never married; things might have been different had he met Nardanë in her own element instead of as simply the nursemaid of the most unsuitable child fiancee. It's quite the warning to those who meddle in others' lives. However, it also has a most satisfying ending, full of hope and the promise of spring. It's very clever of you to end it there, with Legolas surrounded by those who love him for himself. Kudos.

Bodkin · 19 September 2004 · Chapter 46

I'm so glad Bandobras has arrived to lighten Legolas's heart. I love the way Kaimelas insisted on dressing him in green and red - as if everyone knew that Bandobras's arrival was the catalyst that would break Legolas from his long white winter of depression. And the symbolism of green and new life and spring as opposed to the cold emotionless colours of winter. And the sun broke through as Legolas, Bandobras and Gimli reunited!

Joana · 19 September 2004 · Chapter 46

A really touching ending! I loved this story very much. Now I'm just waiting for the sequel. Well done! :)

Lamiel · 18 September 2004 · Chapter 45

Oh good! Ha, I do like Gimli's comments about the sanity of his trek with hobbits, elf, and dwarven maid in tow. Ah, I hope he can surprise Legolas as well. Now THAT should be fun.

Lamiel · 18 September 2004 · Chapter 44

Oh, I do hope that Bandobras is not hurt by the snowstorms. Surely not, surely even you cannot be that cruel. No, I firmly believe that he and Gimli are holed up somewhere safe, and no doubt Gimli has cursed a streak that has shocked Bandy's mother into silence, but eventually they will make it back to Legolas safely. And in a way I am glad for the delay, because it shows that Legolas is strong and resilient enough to survive this tragedy without Bandobras' help. Though we will all be happy to have dear Bandy back again.

Duchess · 18 September 2004 · Chapter 45

Very well written! Loved this letter from Gimli and am sooooo glad they are almost there! Will they be able to surprise Legolas? I hope so! *vbg* As for all the others I've had to catch up on, oh my my, how very sad. I'm thankful for the one from Eowyn's point of view, liked that a lot and am glad to see she's as observant as ever where our favorite Elf is concerned. There's altogether too much to comment on, to tell you the truth. If I didn't have so many other emails and fanfics to catch up on I'd have answered each post individually, but as it is, I'll be lucky to catch up after a month has gone by. *sigh* Thank you very much for this wonderful story, sad though it has been there have been delightfully funny bits and we DID love to hate Laustaire. *vbg* I'm still royally irritated with her for her disastous exit too. ;)

Aislynn Crowdaughter · 16 September 2004 · Chapter 44

Hi! By now I'm full of apprehension how this is goiung to continue and sincerely hope you do *not* plan to let anything happen to the Little One; I doubt that Legolas in his current state could survive this, at least this side of the sea. I know, not a happy story, but please - do not! I do not see how he could make it alive and well for another aoh about 100 years I think in Middle Earth, until Ellessar is dead and he will leave according to canon. Anyway, this is a masterful letter as always, and it is sad to see Legolas so unhappy as he is. At least he is writing again, so it seems he is slowly healing. Great writing! Please continue! Aislynn

sayre · 16 September 2004 · Chapter 44

Oh, please tell me that Bandobras and Gimli are not going to end up the season's second popsicle victims? Gimli and company are far more experienced travelers (rather more experienced in everything other than petting weanlings)than the Infant, and are wise enough to take supplies and equip themselves properly, so I'm trusting in the wisdom of elves and dwarves to see them through. But I'm still crossing my fingers. And I'm still peeved at Laustaire for not even thinking of her horse. Did she expect him to make it all the way to Mithlond eating snow and shivering for weeks? I wish Legolas would rename that weanling and keep her for himself. Having been nickered to and kissed by a little palomino weanling I just discovered has been stabled next to my mare, I can tell you that nothing can bring a smile to a horse lover's face the way an affectionate foal can. It's hard to resist a lonely baby, too. I did want to tell you how much I'm enjoying your work. This is a lovely time for me, to sit down to work (bah!), but still start each day with another letter from our friends. It brightens the entire day. Thank you for this ongoing treat :)

Lamiel · 15 September 2004 · Chapter 43

"Fortunately Legolas is quite capable of dressing himself..." Yes, and it must be a relief to him to have that duty for himself again. I wouldn't wonder if planning this wedding isn't a chance for him to turn the tables on Kaimelas a bit. Ah, poor Legolas. Where is Bandobras when you need him?

Aislynn Crowdaughter · 14 September 2004 · Chapter 41

"when I questioned Legolas asking why he was brought so low he only shook his head, his eyes downcast, saying he could not disclose his thoughts to me – and would not; his mind is closed to my eye, and it seems to me as though he sits alone in a dark room bereft of all hope; he has shut me out, my Husband, so that I am confounded and know not how to comfort him.....There is more to this, my Husband, than the deaths of two Elves, no matter one was his erstwhile betrothed; but what it might be I am ignorant of it." Hmmm... seems to me Nardanes unrequited love was not as unrequited as she thought. Or is it remorse that he first - at the start, before he even met Laustaire - thought to feing interest for her so he would be spared another attempt to foist a maid at him? But I got the impression that after he met the brat he was indeed smitten with her for some time! So I rather think it is Nardanes death, and he realized to late that he was more intersted inher than in the brat. However, I sincerely hope you will not go so far as to kill off Legolas in this! This would, in my view, be a bit of an over-reaction. But I do hope that Bandorbas arrives well, and safe, and *soon*! Aislynn

Elenora · 14 September 2004 · Chapter 42

This is simply killing me!! Legolas's mother's letter was particularly heart-wrenching, especially when she was describing Legolas with the children and then afterward, when he allowed his true emotions to slip through....SAD!!! You've managed to convey in Legolas's letter to Cirien a lack of emotion from Legolas, as if he's numb and simply going through the motions of conversing and corresponding with people, although a bit of his old humor and lightheartedness showed through upon the retelling of Galas's little joke. That was like a bit of sunshine breaking through a stormy sky. I'm very glad Bandobras is on his way - oh how Legolas needs him now! I am really looking forward to the relating of that reunion!! YEAH! Elenora

Lamiel · 14 September 2004 · Chapter 42

Ah, I know why Legolas hasn't heard from Bandy recently - doubtless he's on his way to Ithilien even now, with Gimli at his side. I'm so glad to see that Legolas has some free time now; he needed it so badly! And all without any romantic interest cluttering up the court too. Once Gimli and Bandobras arrive everything will be all right again. Oh, and I see that you did manage to slip a little sea longing in here as well. Nice touch.

LOTR lover · 14 September 2004 · Chapter 42

Why do I have the feeling that this is simply a lull in the storm? Isn't boar hunting a very dangerous sport? Yes, spring is coming and everyone's labor is bearing fruit, but I have a bad feeling about this....
