Oh, that Pippin! :-P So much fluff (in the form of duck feathers, no less) that I may never be able to climb back out. :-) Seems like all is going well in the Baggins home ... Thanks for writing!

Author's reply

You're so kind to review, I greatly appreciate it. I doubt I've written anything more gentle and fluffy than this story!

PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 5: Nienna's Tears

There's never any 'normal' trip for them, is there? Something out of the ordinary always happens -- probably because they're Baggins' ... :-P

PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 2: Getting Acquainted

Wow, yes. Animals can play that game forever (much like a baby w peek-a-boo) ... :-P Can't wait to see what kind of trouble their trip brings this time -- w baby Pippin along they're even more likely to find disaster. :-)

This was an absolute dear of a story. Well written fluff is perhaps the hardest of all genre's /because/ nothing in particular happens and you did a most excellent job.

Author's reply

Thank you, what a lovely compliment! I'm so happy you enjoyed this wee fluffy tale.

Remind me to give Frodo my recipe for Oatmeal Raisin cookies, with golden raisin and dried cherries. Lynda What else would I do on my mini vac but read!?

Author's reply

This is such a fluffy tale! Hope you enjoy it. :)

nancylea57 · 1 September 2008 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

do you think pippins admiration of ducks could be the reason pansy the goose is so mean---retaliaation? maybe we should have an enclave and discuss ways to smooth her feathers. just love these. n.

Author's reply

Dear Pip and his ducks! Who could resist this wee hobbit. Thank you, Nancy. :)

dwarftacular · 19 October 2005 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

Keep up the good work, It's great!!!

Author's reply

Thank you so much! :D

great story, loved the part with Aragorn's legs sticking out of the tent, and that Pippin only wanted stories about birds. I imagine that this birthday was so much better then Aragorn has every had while out in the wild. Hobbits know how to eat.

Author's reply

I agree, how could Aragorn have *ever* had a more interesting, happy, and well-fed birthday than this one? :)

Claudia · 22 October 2004 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

Sooooo achingly sweet! I love how Pippin was so openly affectionate with Estel and the little conversation between Bilbo and Estel, which of course is bittersweet since he didn't get to see the wedding... Lovely way to end this!

Author's reply

Thanks, Claudia! Toddler hobbits -- who wouldn't love 'em? Yes, I flashed back on that line in ROTK where Bilbo tells Frodo that he was planning to go to Aragorn's wedding, especially since he had waited long enough for it. It *is* bittersweet that he didn't get to see it.

Lily the Hobbit · 22 October 2004 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

A very sweet ending! Poor Paladin, though :)

Author's reply

Thank you! Yes, I'm afraid Paladin and family have their hands full with this exuberant youngster!

Auntiemeesh · 21 October 2004 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

Apparently I'm terrible at reviewing! I thought I'd left a review after the last chapter, but when I double checked, I found it's been since chapter five that I've left you a note. Bad auntiemeesh! I have so loved this fluffy story! There cannot be too many fluffy hobbit stories. :) Estel is so gentle and loving with the younglings, especially toddler Pippin (a most delightful creature, I must tell you). I will warn you, now I want far more toddler Pippin. Just saying.

Author's reply

Thank you! I'm rather fond of hobbityfluff myself! I just couldn't resist bringing toddler Pippin and Scamp together somehow. *hugs Auntiemeesh*

Pearl Took · 21 October 2004 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

A wonderful ending to a most wonderful story!!! I shall re-read this when I'm in need of cheering up :-) Thank you, Thank you! And I eagerly await your next story. :-)

Author's reply

Thank you, Pearl! This story cheered *me* up, as well. Hobbits and puppies and chicks, oh my! :) Author Reply: Pearl, can you let me know if you e-mailed me today? I received an e-mail with no subject line that may be from you, but I don't open e-mails unless I know for sure who sent them, and that they're not spam. Thanks!

Lindelea · 21 October 2004 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

A sweet ending to a sweet tale. "Did you ride the pony too?" LOL I like your Paladin! And that he's familiar with Rangers... hmmm... Is there a story there? Thanks!

Author's reply

Thank you for reading! Yes, I think nothing much would escape Paladin's attention, especially where his son is concerned. :)

EllaG · 21 October 2004 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

Awwww! What a sweet finale! ------ “Pippin only wanted stories with birds in them,” he whispered. “I suspect that he’ll be requesting a pet duck when he returns home.” “I’ll warn his parents,” Bilbo grinned. “His father is rather allergic to feathers.” He carefully knelt and slid the snack tray into the tent. “Thank you,” came several muffled voices.----- I can just see that interchange happening!

Author's reply

Thanks, Ella! I think I left no fluff unturned for this story, and I'm so glad that folks enjoyed it. :)

SlightlyTookish · 21 October 2004 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

I loved Frodo's idea for a tent inside - that brought back lots of memories! This was the perfect conclusion to a wonderful story :)

Author's reply

Thank you! The "tent" brought back memories for me, as well! My mom used to make us tents in the livingroom, and our dog loved running in and out of them. too.

esamen · 21 October 2004 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

Sam is correct,” Aragorn said gravely. “You can never take a chance with fire, Frodo, even if you believe it to be nothing but cold ash. If you have water, drown it. If you have sand or soil, bury it.” I have to chuckle. Spoken like a true SD fire survivor. Get the word out, Smoky. Loved the story . . . . and I can't wait for your next fantastic chapter . . . .please remember those of us who love drama and action, danger and heroism; we're still out here, keeping the faith, waiting for another good story . . . not that I would try to drop a hint or anything. Be safe out there in southern California, Esamen

Author's reply

You've been so patient! I plan to at last start writing the "drama and action, danger and heroism" story (the Barrow-wights) in January -- there are a few other things I need to write first. But it will come, never fear! I'm happy you enjoyed the fluffage in the meantime! (And yes, I *did* find myself putting some "fire prevention" tips in this chapter! The fires were a year ago this week, actually.)

pipspebble · 21 October 2004 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

Ohhhhhh!!!!! What a lovely, perfect ending! I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed this wonderful bit of fluff. Finding it in the morning after you've posted chapters and reading while having my first cup of coffee has been such a sweet confection, leaving me with warm fuzzies all day long. Thank you for this sweet, sweet story!

Author's reply

Thank *you*! I really enjoyed writing this -- it's such a pleasure to give our characters a happy outing once in a while!

Breon Briarwood · 21 October 2004 · Chapter 8: Home and Away

Oh, Okay! *grudgingly nudges Frodo to move over just a little bit* C'mon Pip! Here's a little spot in my heart just for you. This story was adorable from beginning to end. Wonder if Estel is going to make it a habit to stop by near his birthday...... (?)

Author's reply

Awww. Toddler Pip scampered his way into your heart. Thank you! Yes, I think, if Estel wants memorable/heartwarming birthdays, he should accidentally find himself in the Shire every year around March 1. :)

smaugs_mommy · 16 October 2004 · Chapter 7: From the Heart

I'm glad the story is still going to be continued! I think this one is the only chapter I reviewed( because I'm the laziest person imaginable when it comes to reviewing*g*), but I've read and liked them all.

LaughingBrook · 13 October 2004 · Chapter 7: From the Heart

That conversation Frodo has with Aragorn shows just how close Frodo has come to him, to be able to speak to him about such things. Great job!

Timmy2222 · 12 October 2004 · Chapter 7: From the Heart

Thank you for your hint to "Mind to Mind", but since my time is restricted, I mostly turn to read stories, which feature Aragorn. So if you will find no review on that one, it has nothing to do with your qualities as an author. Your writing is brilliant, griping, and - in this story here - touching as well. Take care - T.

Lindelea · 11 October 2004 · Chapter 7: From the Heart

Glad to see the "TBC"! He put feathers in your hair! (snork!) “Estel,” Bilbo said gravely, “your skills as a healer are required.” (this was a nice, gentle chuckle) Sam and the star glass! Shades of foreshadowing!

Grey Wonderer · 10 October 2004 · Chapter 7: From the Heart

A lovely conversation between Frodo and Aragorn. They do have the early loss of a parent in common and so the conversation between them seemed very natural. I also enjoyed the bits of star falling to earth and how surprised Sam was to learn that he would be allowed to have a piece. I love this story.

bobo baggins · 9 October 2004 · Chapter 7: From the Heart

Feathers!?! LOL! That is too great! Just like when my friend's 1 yr old comes to hug my legs and leaves interesting smudges in place! But of course she has the most innocent and sweetest smile on her face while she is doing it! I did enjoy the time Frodo and Aragorn spent together, thank you.

Lily the Hobbit · 9 October 2004 · Chapter 7: From the Heart

A wonderful chapter!! The conversation between Frodo and Aragorn was beautifully written! And the feather in his hair... cheeky Pip :)
