Larner · 30 April 2007 · Chapter 11: The Friendship of Men

One fears he will never see this gentle yet utterly determined Hobbit again, and in the other I believe both know this is the last time they will meet within the Bounds of Arda. Frodo always captured the love of those filled with honor.

Queen Galadriel · 29 April 2007 · Chapter 11: The Friendship of Men

These are so poignant. Love the depth of emotion and the imagery you use to convey it. God bless, Galadriel

lovethosehobbits · 29 April 2007 · Chapter 11: The Friendship of Men

*sigh* You write so beautifully! I can almost hear your lovely lilting voice reading these out loud.

harrowcat · 29 April 2007 · Chapter 11: The Friendship of Men

Both of these are lovely Gentle Hobbit but definitely bitter-sweet

Inkling · 29 April 2007 · Chapter 11: The Friendship of Men

These are lovely and evocative. I especially like the second one, that says so much more than the words spoken.

Queen Galadriel · 4 January 2006 · Chapter 10: Comfort

Love these! Especially the last! How very like Frodo, to see Pip's discomfort and ease it will making Pippin think that he (Pip) is doing Frodo a favour! :-) Brilliant! God bless, Galadriel

Antane · 4 November 2005 · Chapter 7: Candles

So lovely and loving! Thank you! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

lovethosehobbits · 3 November 2005 · Chapter 10: Comfort

Oh my sweet friend, you write so beautifully. It is a pleasure to feel the touch of your stories and the 'simple pleasures' of losing oneself within them.

periantari · 3 November 2005 · Chapter 4: Some Vague Anxiety About His Master

The last one is so great~ i remember you posting these on Livejournal and enjoyed them on there as well. Thanks for posting them in there too~ i love these collections of ficlets on one of my favorite hobbits. :) <3 Frodo

Larner · 3 November 2005 · Chapter 10: Comfort

Oh, how much I love these simple moments when love expresses itself in healing ways, and when Frodo, receiving that love, gives it back again with Pippin in the last one. Very, very comforting.

Author's reply

Thank you, Larner. So often Frodo is seen (especially in fanfic) as a passive recipient of care. Yet he was among the most *active* and driven of the protagonists in the books. Even while I enjoy "hurt/comfort" stories, I like to ensure that Frodo is not seen as merely passive (even if he might be at times by necessity).

harrowcat · 3 November 2005 · Chapter 10: Comfort

Aw - lovely breakfast reading Gentle Hobbit. Especially when its an early start and I had a late night! All I want to do is crawl under those blankets too!

Author's reply

I know what you mean! I was called early, early, to fill in for someone at work. The blankets were awfully tempting, I can tell you! I'm glad you enjoyed the breakfast reading! :)

Queen Galadriel · 1 November 2005 · Chapter 9: Rough Healing

Oh, these are all so wonderful! I especially like "Candles"-such a lovely "new tradition!"-and...oh, what is it called? I'm sorry...it's the one you wrote for Frodo Baggins of Bag End, after "Ring of Fire." That was very sweet, and a great help to me just now, as I'm dealing with Rosie playing healer while Sam is away in my story "The Last Days." Thank you! Namarie, and God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

It was called "Chain of Healing" and I'm glad you liked it and that it will help you in your writing. I enjoyed writing that one. I also espcially enjoyed writing "Candles" -- I had such a strong image with Sam and his actions to accompany me.

Larner · 30 October 2005 · Chapter 9: Rough Healing

Aragorn and Frodo; Sam and Frodo; transformations back--momentarily, at least, through the type of pain that brings temporary easing of the body. Well, well done.

Author's reply

Yes, exactly. Thank you. The only way to reach Frodo during those times.

Larner · 30 October 2005 · Chapter 4: Some Vague Anxiety About His Master

Been a while since I first read these drabbles. Frodo the somewhat less than visible, yet the focus of concern from the rest of Hobbiton and Bywater because he has obviously changed the most of all while not appearing to have done so notably at all. Self-effacing and willing to make himself disappear.

Armariel · 30 October 2005 · Chapter 1: Ficlets of the Ring and Chain

Vivid, beautifully written, sweet but not too. A lot of heart in a few words!

GamgeeFest · 1 July 2005 · Chapter 8: Stories, Legends and Tales

I love these, especially the last one where everyone is arguing over who Frodo belongs to. That is so precious. I love the idea that he belongs to all of Middle Earth.

Author's reply

I am especially fond of that last one too. Thank you!

Larner · 28 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Writing

I remember reading the last one before. Beautiful images. Remember the Hobbits, including the one who writes.

Larner · 28 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Kindred to Frodo

The first startling, the second heartening. Very, very good.

Larner · 28 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Candles

A tradition of but a year in the end, but one which was a worthy idea.

Larner · 28 June 2005 · Chapter 8: Stories, Legends and Tales

To all and none he belonged, for he was Illuvatar's child in the end.

Author's reply

And not something they could understand.

Finny · 28 June 2005 · Chapter 8: Stories, Legends and Tales

I absolutely *adore* these two lines: "O what is a library to a hobbit? "An odd and dangerous place where Shirefolk seldom go." Especially the second one...it just speaks to me, somehow. More poetry than prose, it feels, and that is somehow fitting, of Frodo at least, though I can't quite explain how. Great job!

Author's reply

Thank you! I enjoyed writing this one. I wanted to achieve a cadence in it, almost like a chant, or rhythmic echoes of a call and answer. I'm glad you liked it.

Andrea · 28 June 2005 · Chapter 8: Stories, Legends and Tales

Wow! The last one was great! Of course, everyone in Middle Earth considers his home the best place ever. But Cirdan knows of Tol Eressea and the joy of living there! I believe that Frodo found a new home there for the rest of his life.

Armariel · 27 June 2005 · Chapter 8: Stories, Legends and Tales

These are all enchanting. There is such richness and pure emotion in your writing, and you do it all in so few words. Can't really decide which one I like best, but I was hooked from the very first. xoxox Armariel~~~{~@

Author's reply

I realize this reply is awfully late, but thank you for your lovely words! I'm so glad you like these "ficlets".

GamgeeFest · 26 December 2004 · Chapter 7: Candles

Sam is so thoughtful! What a lovely gift for our Ringbearer.

Author's reply

Thank you! Sam may be a down-to-earth hobbit in his profession and his manner, but his imagination takes flight among the very stars themselves.

lovethosehobbits · 25 December 2004 · Chapter 7: Candles

Oh this was so lovely. What a wonderful and loving thing for our Sam to do for his Mr. Frodo. A bittersweet and sad note surrounded it as well, especially when 1420 was mentioned. So beautiful, really.

Author's reply

I hesitated on including the 1420 date as I thought that that might be too angsty for a hopefully comforting Yule ficlet, but after all, I'm glad that I kept it in. Thank you, Lovethosehobbits!
