I may comfort him again, or he may comfort me--whichever way it goes, I will be grateful to know him, and know him well. Excellent ending! I think Sam and Merry would have been good friends. Sweet story...one doesn't get many tales with Merry and Sam and this one is very much in character for both of them. Beautiful and descriptive detail - I could really picture the scene.
