Lovely! We all needtime and space when momentous things have happened. And it is very hard to realise that these experiences may separate us from those that love us most. You showed this very well in very few words. I am glad that Merry has Pippin and that Frodo has Sam. But even Sam is not enough for Frodo.

Author's reply

Yes, I think it must have been a struggle for them to return to the Shire even theough they had wanted nothing more than to go home. I'm so glad you enjoyed this. Thanks so much! :)

Bodkin · 22 April 2005 · Chapter 14: You Don't Have to Know Everything

You must have spent too much time observing the intoxicated at parties. They are spouting just the right meaningless gobbledygook that seems intelligent after a few glasses too many!

Author's reply

You've hit the nail right on the head! I don't drink, so I've been able to eavesdrop on some Very Wise conversations, lol. Thanks for reading! :)

Larner · 22 April 2005 · Chapter 14: You Don't Have to Know Everything

When drunk, it appears Hobbits are as likely to become totally discombobulated as any Man. Ah, dear.

Author's reply

Very true! (They're going to be very hungover in the morning!) Thanks for reading! :)

Larner · 22 April 2005 · Chapter 13: To Catch a Thief

Ah--what a start for the honored Burglar Baggins! Love the first sight of Gandalf and Bilbo together at one of the displays done for the Old Took.

Author's reply

Thank you! I've been re-reading The Hobbit, and Bilbo's memory of Gandalf and the fireworks grabbed me. I'm so happy you enjoyed it! :)

Armariel · 21 April 2005 · Chapter 11: Number the Stars

Sweet!! I love it. So poignant. cheers Armariel~~~~{~@

Author's reply

That ending sort of sneaked its way in - and here I thought I was just writing a bit of fluff! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you! :)

Armariel · 21 April 2005 · Chapter 14: You Don't Have to Know Everything

LOLOL!!! Cute, cute, cute......gotta love those two.........................what?

Author's reply

What do you mean, what? ;) Heehee, I'm glad it gave you a laugh. Thank you! :D

Mum's the Word · 21 April 2005 · Chapter 1: A Gift for Sam

What a wonderful gift! And what a lovely gift you've given us. Thank you.

Author's reply

That's such a sweet thing to say! Thank you so much! :)

Mum's the Word · 21 April 2005 · Chapter 13: To Catch a Thief

Aha! Now we know. *nods sagely* Very sweet glimpse. Love the "stars and dragonflies." Well done.

Author's reply

I figured that there had to be *some* reason (plus, I wanted an excuse to write tiny Bilbo!). I'm glad you enjoyed it - thanks! :)

Pearl Took · 28 March 2005 · Chapter 12: Spring Fever

Aw, Merry with allergies!! It's rather endearing for some reason. Well done :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Pearl! I decided it was Merry's turn to have a litle hurt/comfort for a change. Glad you liked! :)

Larner · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 12: Spring Fever

Ah, allergies! Too bad Hobbits didn't have access to antihistamines and decongestants. I often live on them part of the year.

Author's reply

Yes, Merry could certainly use some of those! Thanks for reading :)

Grey Wonderer · 17 March 2005 · Chapter 11: Number the Stars

Lovely! I hope that they do all have names. Makes things more interesting, doesn't it?

Author's reply

It certainly does! And thank you for reading! :)

Larner · 17 March 2005 · Chapter 11: Number the Stars

This one is a sad one, and very gentle. Thank you for it.

Author's reply

Thank you, Larner. I'm so glad that you found it "gentle." I hoped that would come across. :)

Bodkin · 17 March 2005 · Chapter 11: Number the Stars

Poor Merry. He's a born worrier, but if he's reduced to numbering stars, he's in a real state. (Is he in Minas Tirith? If he is, he should grab Faramir. Bet he could name them. And provide a star chart.)

Author's reply

Well, when I wrote this I envisioned it taking place in Minas Tirith. However, it probably could also take place when Gandalf takes Pippin away after the palantir incident. I'll leave it open for interpretation :) Thanks for reading! :)

Saoirse · 16 March 2005 · Chapter 11: Number the Stars

O, my! How terrible sweet and just plain...adorable! O... this really pulled the heart strings. What a beautiful little scene you created with little Pippin and Merry looking up into the night sky. I could see it perfectly. What a wonderful and endearing picture I really liked this a lot. Great job :)

Author's reply

Thanks so much, Saoirse! Your comments are just so wonderful. I'm very glad that you enjoyed this! :)

Mysterious Jedi · 16 March 2005 · Chapter 11: Number the Stars

Cute, but when is this, exactly? Because if it's during the Quest, couldn't they still have a chance to ask?

Author's reply

Thanks! The last part takes place when Merry is left behind in Minas Tirith and Pippin goes off to battle. In my mind, Merry is wondering if any of them, and Middle-earth itself, will survive.

Grey Wonderer · 15 March 2005 · Chapter 10: The Damp of the First Spring Rain

That was so sweet! Thank you for sharing it.

Author's reply

Thank you for reading it! I'm very glad that you liked it :)

Dreamflower · 14 March 2005 · Chapter 10: The Damp of the First Spring Rain

AAaawww....*grinning foolishly* What *lovely*lovely* fluff! And such a vivid picture, as well...

Author's reply

Hee! Thank you, dear :)

Larner · 13 March 2005 · Chapter 9: A Short Cut to Mushrooms

Ah, again one that had slipped by me, and that I find myself loving. Your ficlets are so enjoyable!

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I'm delighted that you've enjoyed them - they are so much fun to write! :D

Larner · 13 March 2005 · Chapter 10: The Damp of the First Spring Rain

Ah, our irrepressible Pippin. A wonderful way to clean off the mud, I must say. Love the imagery and the little hint of movieverse in the title.

Author's reply

Pippin is quite the ingenious little hobbit. Thanks for reading - I'm so glad you enjoyed this! :)

Grey Wonderer · 9 March 2005 · Chapter 9: A Short Cut to Mushrooms

LOL Dining with Hobbits! Very cute!

Author's reply

Thank you! I'm so glad you liked this bit of mushroom fluff :)

cher · 9 March 2005 · Chapter 9: A Short Cut to Mushrooms

I love the way you start this one. "Jane Austen, meet the hobbits. Hobbits, meet Ms. Austen"

Author's reply

And what a meeting that would be! Thanks for reading :)

Larner · 6 March 2005 · Chapter 8: Snow Day

Lovely way to work that old adage into the story!

Author's reply

Thank you! I was trying to think of a way to end it and that old saying came to mind. I thought it captured Pippin's thoughts as he got back at his cousins :)

Larner · 6 March 2005 · Chapter 7: A Hobbit for all Seasons

On their way to Edoras and Minas Tirith in the last one, then?

Author's reply

Yes, as I wrote it I say them heading to Edoras. Knowing that Eomer is nearing the end of his life and has asked to see Merry one last time is weighing heavily on Merry's mind during the journey.

Larner · 6 March 2005 · Chapter 6: Better Than Tonic

Will they name the kitten Tonic, then? Nice.

Author's reply

LOL, perhaps they will! It's as good a name as any :)

Larner · 6 March 2005 · Chapter 5: The Tooth Dwarf

The Tooth Dwarf--had forgotten this one. Yes, a lovely ficlet.

Author's reply

Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed reading it again :)
