Wow that last one is a bit surprising. Shocking, actually. ;)

Daffy Maiden · 6 July 2005 · Chapter 1: Simple Pleasures, to a Soldier (Gluttony)

I've read your other Boromir tales and now I've come back to these. :) You're so good with him! I hope you write more! I once asked Jenolas, another Arda author who also loves and understands Boromir, if she might speculate on the women who passed through his life and chamber. She said romance writing really isn't her thing. Perhaps you... ?

Author's reply

Thank you for your kind words! I have written some Boromir romance (at my live journal) but not quite what you've suggested here. I will give it some thought, though!

Daffy Maiden · 12 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Shock (Wrath)

Yay, another Boromir lover! I hope you've written more like this. *runs to check*

Author's reply

Whee! Another Boromir fan! Did you find them? Especially, "For the Moon to Lead, and All the Stars to Follow", and some in the LJ challenges too. Hope you enjoy them! Ann

Considering how long Gondor was abandoned by her king, I'd feel the same way if I were him. It always amazed me how easily Aragorn was well-received by the people of Gondor, coming in at the last minute to reap the glory, when others had held it for so long & in such constant anguish.

Author's reply

Very true. Boromir and his family had been the living symbols for so long, it must have actually been quite difficult for the people of Gondor (and especially the people of Minas Tirith, who had direct, daily contact) to accept some one outside of the family as their new ruler. Your comments are much appreciated, and a lovely surprise this evening. Thanks for reading through!

mirthor · 29 March 2005 · Chapter 6: Ignorance Is Bliss (Envy)

Envied, I am sure - after all the years of fighting for his land. Though, I'd guess he also values their antics, keeping the journey entertaining between perils. A bitter mix.

Author's reply

Their constant cheerfulness would certainly have been a different experience for him, that's for sure! But he would have been impressed by their loyalty and courage, finally accepting them as noble companions no less than men of Gondor or Rohan.

mirthor · 29 March 2005 · Chapter 5: Loneliness (Lust)

The Irony. I've often wondered what a match they'd make - they seem too much alike, but they aren't black & white, either. I'd love it if someone wrote an AU with these two.

Author's reply

Oh, it lurks around in the back of my mind every now and then (like today) but I mostly write short pieces. But who knows? Maybe inspiration will strike unexpectedly!

mirthor · 29 March 2005 · Chapter 4: Second Breakfast (Greed)

Poor Boromir. I'd guess he got the short end of the stick in the food dept often with his short traveling companions.

Author's reply

And what an introduction to those chattering little eating machines! :)

mirthor · 29 March 2005 · Chapter 3: Exhaustion (Sloth)

Eerie - this lends to the unique connection the brothers had, prompting one to wonder: since Faramir had the ability to know of his brother's fate after he died, perhaps something prophetic occured between them before then, such as this. They did have the same blood.

Author's reply

Thank you picking up on this right away! I had to write and rewrite this so many times - the idea of the link, of the brother's communicating with each other through dreams, just did not come through. I'm glad to see it worked for you.

mirthor · 29 March 2005 · Chapter 2: The Land of Illusion (Pride)

This made me laugh, whether it was intended or no. In his mind Rivendell would never compare to the White City, and he cuts it down immediately - possibly to prevent himself from enjoying it there too much? After all, that would seem unfaithful to him.

Author's reply

That's it! "I'm not going to like this place, it is not Minas Tirith, Minas Tirith is the best!" Obstinate soul that he was!

mirthor · 29 March 2005 · Chapter 1: Simple Pleasures, to a Soldier (Gluttony)

Not a luxury I would imagine Boromir delighting in, but now that you've written it - it makes sense that he would lose himself in this after all the long months abroad, the long years in combat.

Author's reply

I always imagine him really enjoying his creature comforts, when the opportunity presented itself, so hot water, soap, clean clothes would have given him great delight.

Soledad · 26 December 2004 · Chapter 7: Shock (Wrath)

That was a beautiful set of drabbles. You mirror Boromir's impressions and inner struggles very well.

Author's reply

Thank you! It's a bit strange sometimes, having him living smack in the middle of my imagination, but it does provide for lots of opportunities for interesting stories.

Larner · 3 December 2004 · Chapter 7: Shock (Wrath)

You already know I love these short pieces, and feel they were well done.

Author's reply

Thank you again! You know there is no such thing as "too many compliments" for our writing!

grumpy · 3 December 2004 · Chapter 1: Simple Pleasures, to a Soldier (Gluttony)

I read these for some reason back to front, and found them all great, but I must say I live this soap one, The vision of Boramir trying to find odd corners of his pack to stuff soap in, is just wondeful.

Author's reply

Thank you! that story seems to be quite a favorite with readers. It has a strong basis in reality, too - I wish I had collected more bottles of wonderful shampoo when I last stayed at the Westin.

daw the minstrel · 3 December 2004 · Chapter 7: Shock (Wrath)

What a lovely set of drabbles! I really like the way you wove the theme through them.

Author's reply

Thanks for your kind words. These all had their origin in one longer piece, which didn't seem to be going anywhere, so I was happy to recycle these to good purpose.
