I loved this chapter! It was wondeful to see the Fellowship come together in this strange setting. I liked how everybody went off to do their specific and character-suitable tasks. Aragorn's going to try to find some athelas to help Frodo, Legolas was going to try to get some info from the trees, Gimli was going to fashion himself an axe and look for game, while Merry and Pippin were going fishing to get some food for everybody. Now they've found the palantir, which adds another interesting thing to the mix. More soon please!

Good so far. I look forward to more, and to seeing what happens with Merry instead of Pippin finding the Seeing Stone.

Pearl Took · 9 January 2005 · Chapter 3: A Fellowship Forms

Well done, as always! I like Merry being th one to fall prey to the palantir and not our dear "Fool of a Took", hehehehe. Let some one else be the fool for a change :) This is so very clever :)

EEeeeeks . . . this is Esamen and I just now realized that I forgot to sign my review before I posted it. I wrote about the jeweled game set, the one-sentence council, and heroic Frodo. Love you! Sorry!

Hello, and I'm so happy you updated! I've been standing outside and watching down the road, so to speak, for a glimpse that a new chapter was ready. This is great and I am having so much fun reading it. I don't watch much TV and I have never seen Lost, so I'm just going by love of the quest and the fellowship's special bond. Wonderful chapter that really highlights that first moment of commitment, just great. Is Aragorn's mystery treasure athelas? or Frodo? Thanks so much for writing this. I got a special kick out of the following lines (as well as all the jokes about airline issues). __________________ Late that afternoon, Gimli looked up from the bejeweled chess set he had retrieved from his baggage to find Merry next to him, studying the board intently. (Chuckle) The jeweled game set! It's such a great example of Gimli's dwarf culure and mindset. Love it, love it. I'm so happy Gimli has it with him. ____________ “Frodo’s cousin, Bilbo, found the Ring many years ago,” Gandalf explained simply. LOL -- There you go. Nothing like reducing the entire council to one sentence. Otherwise you'd have to wait a really long time for your readers to get through this chapter and leave a review. ____________ With a great effort, Frodo sat up, trembling, holding onto Merry and Sam for support. “For 17 years I have kept it hidden,” he said to Boromir, eyes blazing, “and hidden it will stay.” Aha! My beloved hero does what he does best . . . carries on with courage, no matter how tired or worn. THAT'S why I read LOTR fic . . . for moments like this. I gotta admit, you write a fabulous Frodo. You just have the special touch. (Esamen bows and humbly presents a blue ribbon, a silver trophy, and a check for a million dollars to the best Frodo-writer of them all.) Have a fabulous week, and have tons of fun typing! Thanks! See ya in cyberspace next time you post! Esamen

Great chapter! I love the way you put halbarad as the piolet, and I love the line, "The dwarf was proving distressingly hard to hate," that made me laugh, and I see Gimli's opinion of trees hasn't changed. I'm really looking foreward to the next chapter, update soon! ;D

Tinwetari · 9 January 2005 · Chapter 3: A Fellowship Forms

This is a very interesting idea for a story. I love "Lost", and reading your chapters makes me as excited as watching a new episode. I eagerly await your next update. :)

mirthor · 9 January 2005 · Chapter 3: A Fellowship Forms

Just one weapon - won't be easy. I can imagine a fight over it & of course we all know what two individuals of the Fellowship would desire a sword. So, is Saruman on the island? Orcs? Intriguing tale. In answer to your reply to me - I can be patient & easy paths are usually boring, so I'm looking forward to the update.

Julia · 3 January 2005 · Chapter 2: Dark Magic

I read the first two chapters and really liked them. Lost and LOTR are two of my favorite things, and this story is an interesting combo of both of them. Please continue soon!

LaughingBrook · 3 January 2005 · Chapter 2: Dark Magic

This is a powerful line(s): "...His manner is rough, but I believe him to be a kind and good man." "He is a man," the wizard said gravely. "that is danger enough." Love it!!

Galidea · 3 January 2005 · Chapter 2: Dark Magic

OHH! Good chap. I enjoyed the way you highlight the special contributions each one can make, no matter how small. Thanks for putting the update up so soon! I really hate it when someone litereally takes a year between chaps and use cliffies. I wonder what will become of the friendship of Legolas and Gimli? I hope it works out, I'm a sucker for drama or unlikely frienships. Great chap. and way to use the cliffy, but still promise more, it makes me look foreward to the update all the more! Update SOON! P.S. You're still my hero! (not the sandwich;D)

Little Mouse · 3 January 2005 · Chapter 2: Dark Magic

Hey Shire! Sorry it's been so long since I checked in, the semester turned into the toughest I've ever been through. Ok, I am officially hooked on this story. I'm very intrigued and interested to see where you go with this. I read very few AU stories that take them out of Middle Earth, but you got me. Keep up the good work! -LM

Lackwit · 3 January 2005 · Chapter 2: Dark Magic

OMG, it's going from "Lost" to "Island of Dr. Moreau"; it's ok, I approve of your taste in literature. Inventive storyline, though I am still having trouble suspending my disbelief about the plane :) Good idea introducing Saruman who is something of M-E's Renaissance Man; our Fellowship is in for a bad week, aren't they?

mirthor · 3 January 2005 · Chapter 2: Dark Magic

I'm enjoying this so far - it's refreshing & I can't wait to see where you're going with it - hoping it's not too short. I've got to say, as the House of Hurin contains my three favorite characters, I hope you're not planning to off Boromir. I read your comments - the changes to come for the Captain General intrigue me, as long as he's not left to be a villian or scapegoat in the end. Of course, how you can please all your readers would be a mystery to me :)

Roger Gamgee · 3 January 2005 · Chapter 2: Dark Magic

I love this! Now the "Lost" 'monster' (or whatever it happens to be - we STILL haven't found out about that) has shown up. I'm starting to see a couple of parallels here in terms of characters (correct me if I'm wrong in my assumption): Gandalf - John Locke, philosopher and advisor to the group Aragorn - Jack, leader and guide Gimli - Sawyer, perhaps? *not too sure on this one* Legolas - Sayid This is turning out to be one wild ride...*hanging on for the duration* Well done!

esamen · 3 January 2005 · Chapter 2: Dark Magic

“It is possible,” the wizard agreed. “We must be alert to anything unusual. I will say only that the hobbits must be closely guarded, Aragorn. One of them holds a secret that would give Saruman power beyond imagining. We cannot let anything happen to them. I cannot say what beasts or forces Saruman will send to retrieve his prize, but I have no doubt...” The wizard’s countenance grew grim. “They are coming.” Whoa! This is AWESOME! I love it! All kinds of hobbity charm and fellowship goodness. Aragorn is strong and mysterious, Gandalf is knowing and comforting, and Frodo is my darling wounded hero. And everyone's going to grow and change. This is the best thing since BCOP. I just love being back with everyone, in the midst of danger again. I was a little skeptical at first, but you've got my heart now! Lead on!

harrowcat · 31 December 2004 · Chapter 1: Getting Acquainted

I'm not much for AU normally but this is great. More Shirebound - please, and quickly!!!!! I can't wait.

Nimrodel · 29 December 2004 · Chapter 1: Getting Acquainted

I love this story... poor Frodo and Pippin. Is Boromir badly hurt ? I hope not ;) Loll sorry for mistakes, but I speak french more often than english and I'm not to good in english too Hope you'll update soon 'cuz this is a wonderful story !

pipinheart · 29 December 2004 · Chapter 1: Getting Acquainted

I like this very much..LOTR/ Lost real good combination... Frodo and Pippin are hurt Merry and sam working side by side to get things organized... Boramir seems a little spoilt by his father, but it fits in real well... Please continue...

Galidea · 28 December 2004 · Chapter 1: Getting Acquainted

OHHHHHHH!!!! YOU are my new hero! I LOVE the show LOST and I REALLY REALLY REALLY love LORT!!!! Now you combined both! *jumps up and down and claps* I can't wait for the next chapter! I love you you shirebound!!! *gives a bear hug* Update really really really soon!!! :) Can't wait My precious!!! LOL;P

DAYNA · 28 December 2004 · Chapter 1: Getting Acquainted

OH MY GOSH! I LOVE THIS! I do not watch Lost, and know very little about it, but I just love this storyline! You are very clever! My only "complaint" is that you've made Frodo and Pippin appear to be the same age. It doesn't take away from the story (yet! lol!), so don't mind me. :) I'm hooked. I think this is a great exercise for you. I can't wait for chapter 2! :)

Hobbit Lass21 · 28 December 2004 · Chapter 1: Getting Acquainted

Oooo!! VERY interesting.... I'm chomping at the bit for more!! ^_^ HL21

RogerGamgee · 27 December 2004 · Chapter 1: Getting Acquainted

This was fantastic! I've been a fan of "Lost" from day one, thanks to Dominic's portrayal of Charlie Pace. I was curious to see how a LOTR/Lost crossover would play out, and I believe you have one more reader. I'm looking forward to the continuation of this tale. Good work!

Nina the powerwriter · 27 December 2004 · Chapter 1: Getting Acquainted

I think I only got through this chapter on LJ, but I read it again since I forgot what happened. Hmm...this is interesting. I wonder how they could of been on a plane in M-E :P It's good so far, and will be interesting to see what all awaits them on the island. Maybe I'll pop over to LJ and take a peek ;) Isn't Lost the coolest show?!

Arrow · 27 December 2004 · Chapter 1: Getting Acquainted

*Grins* I love it! I love Lost, so this is really great mixed in with Hobbits and the fellowship. “I am Gondor,” the Man declared. LOL! That was good! Keep up the good work, I love it!
