Larner · 14 April 2007 · Chapter 4: Enchantment

Yes, it was the lead of such as she and later Arwen who taught those flowers to grow within Middle Earth.

Author's reply

It's a lovely thought that such a thing was passed onto the generations don't you think? So many parallels!

Larner · 14 April 2007 · Chapter 3: Transfer of knowlegde

Oh, dealing with a librarian, is he? Heh!

Author's reply

Hehehe yes, when I drabbled it I had reference desk duty and I just happened to have a patron like that...

Larner · 14 April 2007 · Chapter 2: Dancing barefoot

A fitting introduction.

Author's reply

Thank you :) Just a take of mine, I mean it could have happened very differently!

Dreamflower · 22 November 2006 · Chapter 10: Colourful Company

Yes, I can imagine Hamfast worrying about his Master. And he would certainly have been awed by all those Dwarves--and a wizard as well!

Author's reply

I recently read that part of the Hobbit and I was amazed by all the colours and different voices every Dwarf has in that book, so I am happy to read that I captured Gaffer's impression very well! Thank you so much for this wonderful review!!

Grey Wonderer · 22 November 2006 · Chapter 10: Colourful Company

I adore this! I love seeing the Gaffer meet up with the dwarves. Now he has his own story to tell Sam later on.

Author's reply

Oh! *blinks* A review from you! Wow. I am a big fan of your stories, so wow! I always wondered why Sam had this fascination for elves alone, he never asked about Dwarves on his journey to Rivendell and as far as I can recall he reacted normal to Gimli (I might be mistaken though), so yes. With this in mind I thought how nice it would be that Gaffer would have met the Dwarves before Bilbo left on his adventure and would tell of Dwarves to his children, leaving the mystery of elves in the open for Sam. Now I am wondering if I am making sense. But thank you so much for reviewing my little drabble: I feel deeply honoured.

Larner · 22 November 2006 · Chapter 10: Colourful Company

Certainly the Dwarves had hilarious names. Nice rather-more-than-a-drabble.

Larner · 27 August 2006 · Chapter 8: Shattered Twilight

The grief of the traitor....

Dreamflower · 6 December 2005 · Chapter 6: A Bard's fate

Maglor? I *really* need to read the Silm again.

Author's reply

:) Yes, this is Maglor! Thanks for your review Dreamflower!

Dreamflower · 6 December 2005 · Chapter 5: United, we wait

This is very vivid! I can see this in my mind's eye!

Author's reply

Oh Dreamflower, what a huge compliment!!!! Thank you!

Dreamflower · 6 December 2005 · Chapter 4: Enchantment

What a lovely prose-poem on Beren seeing Luthien!

Author's reply

Thanks, this drabble, well it just wanted to be written this way!

Dreamflower · 6 December 2005 · Chapter 3: Transfer of knowlegde

I seem to remember having seen this on LJ; I don't remember if I commented or not, but I really like this snippet. I can just see Boromir, embarassed to be in the library. I don't suppose Gondor had library fines, but I'll bet they could have used them, LOL!

Author's reply

LOL! Perhaps re-arranging all the scrolls in alphabetical order... although I think Faramir would have like that too much *grin*

Dreamflower · 6 December 2005 · Chapter 2: Dancing barefoot

I am not real familiar with The Silmarillion, not like LotR, but I do like this comparison/contrast. I am quite sure that all these linked marriages that eventually led to the ultimate outcome of Arwen from Elrond, and Arargorn, from the line of Elros, had some things fated to be in common.

Dreamflower · 6 December 2005 · Chapter 1: Drawings

That was cute! I can just see little Arwen, the artist!

Hit and Run Reviewer · 2 July 2005

Very Nice. Works well even for somebody who doesn't know who these people are. Like me. So, it supersedes. No background or knowledge of Tolkien required.

Marion · 1 July 2005

The Gaffer can't read. Nor does he think much of booklore. Is Bilbo being deliberatly sarcastic?

Author's reply

Dear Marion, This is a fanon fact. I went on a limb with this one, asking Tinni (who maintains the great site: Canon or Fanon) if this was a canon or a fanon fact. She replied: From what I have gathered so far there is no direct mention of Hamfast Gamgee being unable to read, there is also no direct mention of Hamfast Gamgee being able to read either. However I am 99% certain this fanon comes from the prologue to Lord of the rings where it states, "By no means all Hobbits were lettered, but those who were wrote constantly to all their friends (and a selection of their relations) who lived further off than an afternoon's walk." I recall there being one or two more passages where hobbit literacy is mentioned. But overall I can't find anything specificly related to Hamfast Gamgee's literacy. Even so, if you read the 100 words again and know of Bilbo's character and good nature regarding to those who he sees as friends, he did not mean it in a sarcastic demeanour. A book with herblore contains more then letters you see. Besides that Hamfast is a bit stunned when he got such a gift, it surely has an intention, but I leave it up to the readers what it will be. I checked both of your claims in my books (I have every work of Tolkien here) and both are fanon facts. Thank you for leaving a review, it sparked the interest of others to look into it.

Sulriel · 1 July 2005

so very like Bilbo to think of Hamfast on his birthday.

Author's reply

In his own and unique chaotic way :) Thank you for reviewing!

Larner · 1 July 2005

A Crossovers Drabble between true science fiction and Middle Earth? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OMG! What an image.

Kitt of Lindon · 31 May 2005

I woke this morning with the determination to read through these. ‘Drawings’ painted such a sweet picture with the little Arwen drawing between her brothers. I especially love Gimli’s thoughts in ‘Mellon’. :) ‘Dancing Barefoot’ has such a beautiful flow to it. Maglor’s thoughts were bittersweet… very good how all the names were placed. ‘Cornered’s structure was clever and very amusing. Firefoot certainly knows how to charm… ‘Enchantment’ is so beautifully worded. Love it. Very well done, Rhapsody! -Kitt

Raksha The Demon · 18 May 2005 · Chapter 4: Enchantment

Nice drabble - light-footed and airy like its subject. I don't think you spelled "Nephridil" right - it's Niphredil...

Author's reply

Now, to tell you the truth... I actually looked it up, knew that it was supposed to be Niphredil, but somehow I switched the I and E around.. The mind works in its mysterious ways, or an unruly keyboard. As for Luthien, Tolkien described her dancing more from Beren's poit of view and how he enchanted her. I love The Lay of Leithian in HOME III (The Lays of Beleriand), so that was a big inspiration for me :) I'm glad you liked it and thanks for leaving this kind review.

Raksha The Demon · 18 May 2005

Ah, now we know who was the real love of Eomer's life, LOL! Wonderful drabble. Firefoot is quite the charmer.

Author's reply

I have been cornered by a horse in a stable once a while, they just want attention. But since the Rohirrim have such a close bond with their horses, I thought that this drabble was a nice reflection of that. Thank you for reviewing, it made my day!

Raksha The Demon · 12 May 2005

Ooh, nice one! "Maglor the forgotten" - a sad epithet, but true. A dreamy and melancholy paean...

Author's reply

Writing Maglor is such a reward, he has so many interesting sides that are worthwile exploring, which I am planning to expand on. Thank you for leaving a review on one of my favourite drabbles. It made my day!

Raksha The Demon · 12 May 2005 · Chapter 3: Transfer of knowlegde

Boromir in the library - interesting concept, and not one we see too often in fanfic, unless he's looking for Faramir! I choose to believe he did take the scrolls out himself; and just became sidetracked, but it also possible that he's returning them for Faramir...Nice work!

Author's reply

Who knows why he was there? It makes you wonder what the scroll is about... especially when he quickly mentions that he didn't borrow it. But why wouldn't make Boromir use of the archive of Minas Tirith? In my perspective it can be full of maps, strategic battle plans from previous Captains and Stewards. I can tell you that this drabble, based on a real life situation, has unleashed a bunny that might be explored further. Thanks for leaving a review, I really appreciated it!

Isil Elensar · 27 April 2005

*cheesy grin* I keep meaning to post a review, but you know me and my memory... Thank you! I absolutely love this! The hedges are now immortalized in a drabble! I still remember that conversation (well, sort of), and I still know that I will never live that down. At any rate... I can see this extended into something more... but nothing suitable for this site... :X ;-)

Author's reply

I leave the expanding upon that thought to you ;c) But I know for certain the evol hedges will return...

Leaward · 21 April 2005 · Chapter 2: Dancing barefoot

A beautiful drabble pressie for me :) I've always wondered about how they met and their lives ... *sigh* another plot bunny bites at my ankles ... And I like the similarities and differences he sees between Luthien and Nimloth. The jewel will become her ... and undo her. Thanks for the drabble, Rhaps!

Author's reply

Beautful isn't it. Sometimes I have no clue where those words come from, but my muse insists on getting them down. Intriguing how the Silmaril also rules Dior's thoughts and actions, don't you think?

Isil Elensar · 9 January 2005

I love it! Thank you so much! ;-)

Author's reply

You are most welcome my friend!
