Periantari · 19 December 2005 · Chapter 4: Memory
I love the tender h/c that you have for Pippin. It was nice to hear some of Pippin's memories resurfacing though. :D Our hobbit heroes have gone through so much! =)
Periantari · 19 December 2005 · Chapter 3: Confusion
I love this story too! So much h/c and aww~ poor Pippin and not remembering much about the Quest. :D I love your Aragorn&Gimli&Legolas interaction too~ i love the care and concern they have for one another. :) And yes, your healing Aragorn is described so well. =)
Hai Took · 13 April 2005 · Chapter 5: Questions and Answers
I was a bi disappointed to see "the end" at the end of this chapter. But I'm glad that we'll be seeing more as individual stories, I will keep an eye out for them, mind you ;) Pippin wasn't getting many answers was he? I did like how you wrote him trying to questions Strider and not wanting to be side tracked but food got the better of him! Thanks for the story, I'm just sad to see it end, of sorts.
Author's reply
I'm glad you enjoyed the story and I promise, there will be more. :D
Mysterious Jedi · 12 April 2005 · Chapter 5: Questions and Answers
I can't imagine not being able to get answers about Frodo and Sam... it was a secret, but he must have felt indignant, especially since he knew before his injury and wasn't permitted to know now. I understand why Aragorn didn't tell him, but I still sympathize with our dear Pip!
Author's reply
Poor Pippin, he's been very frustrated through all of this. Thanks for reading. :)
Grey Wonderer · 7 March 2005 · Chapter 4: Memory
Love how Pippin's memories return and how he is gaining them a few at a time. To have them all slam back into him at once would be too much for anyone to handle. I look forward to more of this and the arrival of Merry. Again, this is such a great companion piece to "Courage"!
Author's reply
Thanks! This way, instead of getting punched in the gut by all his memories returning at once, Pippin gets to suffer over and over again as he regains little bits of the Quest at a time. You're right though, it would have been terribly overwhelming to get hit with it all at once. :)
Rachel Stonebreaker · 6 March 2005 · Chapter 1: Finding
I came across this as Marigolds recommendation in March so I’m a bit late (as in chapter 4) in reviewing. Forgive the lapse. Hey, you really inspired me to write a short little non-LotR piece on war but that’s beside the point. I wanted to compliment you on the fact that you didn’t just blow off Frodo and Sam being tracked by Gandalf and the Eagles. I’ve read a number of stories where folks don’t even mention it (as can be expected because it’s such a horrible thought that they didn’t survive). You not only mentioned it but you gave your characters a few moments to worry on it. I also thought Aragorn’s weariness VERY appropriate. Whoa. If there’d ever been a time to try that man’s strength it would have been after that battle. You seemed to handle all the distances between battle and resting places very well. I, for one, have not been able to figure out who was where when, but I know that not everyone in the Fellowship was in the same place at the same time after the fall of Sauron and so I appreciate that you’ve kept the timeline correct, as far as I can tell ;-) . Ooooh, and you used “a scratch at the flap of his tent” instead of “a knock” BIG BONUS POINTS in my book. The point were Pippin begins to come back into the real world was nicely worked. Poor lad. I liked the little hints of recognition that brought him around. I found it rather amusing that Pippin can not escape whatever evil medicinal brew Strider has concocted no matter what.
Author's reply
You seemed to handle all the distances between battle and resting places very well. That's one of the things I've struggled with the most in this (as well as "Courage"). I'm not sure my distances and timing are terribly accurate, but I've tried to keep them consistent, at least, lol. Thanks for leaving such a lovely comment. :)
Hai Took · 5 March 2005 · Chapter 4: Memory
Wow, how hard for Pippin to now remeber bits and pieces but not be able to put it all together. Legolas introducing himself again and Pippin not sure how to respond. How hard. I'm looking forward to finding out how things come along!
Author's reply
Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying this story. :)
Mysterious Jedi · 4 March 2005 · Chapter 4: Memory
How wonderful to see Pippin's point of view. I rearead A New Kind of Courage last night (it's rather surprising how much one can forget so quickly!) and enjoyed it immensely (again); so now it's fresh in my memory and it was lovely to see a new chapter of the companinon today!
Author's reply
Thanks! I'm having fun being able to write this story from Pippin's point of view, finally. I had to be very strict with myself while I was writing 'Courage,' lol. :)
Hai Took · 17 February 2005 · Chapter 3: Confusion
How confusing to know you have seen someone but not be able to figure out from where! I'm glad that he remembered Gandalf that must have been comofrting. Poor Aragorn not being able to finsih his meal! I hope that he gets some time to himself as well! Looking forward to more! And curious about exactly how much Pippin remembers!
Author's reply
This whole situation is so confusing and frustrating for Pippin. People claiming to know him when he doesn't know them, people looking familiar although he doesn't remember ever meeting them. He is definitely going to be happier once he starts remembering things again. :)
pipinheart · 16 February 2005 · Chapter 3: Confusion
Gimli is worried about Pippin ad is Aragorn,so he seeks the aid of Gandalf... With him there when Pippin wakes it helps Pippin. As he sees Aragorn he sences that he knows him,but not sure where... Very nice, please continue...
Author's reply
Thanks!
Grey Wonderer · 15 February 2005 · Chapter 3: Confusion
Pippin wanted to protest and demand answers to his questions, but he remembered very clearly that Gandalf never answered questions he did not want to answer. Sighing, he cast back in his mind, trying to do as the wizard asked. LOL I wish people at my job thought that about me! Wouldn't it be great to be known as someone who doesn't answer questions, but knows all the answers? That would take the pressure off. Loved this chapter and was very glad to see that Pippin remembered Gandalf well enough to settle down a bit.
Author's reply
I know, wouldn't it be great if people just knew better than to ask you questions you didn't want to deal with. It would be so much better than my current solution, which is to stick my fingers in my ears and go "lalalalala" when the wrong questions arise, lol.
LinweP · 15 February 2005 · Chapter 3: Confusion
I read about your story through PippinHealers at Yahoo and wanted to let you know that I am really enjoying your story. I think you have the characterizations down really well. This is one of my favorite time for fics so I am really looking forward to the rest of the story the to getting Pippin some more TLC. Thank you.
Author's reply
I'm always happy when someone tells me that my characterizations are good. Thanks for reading and stopping by with a comment, I'm happy you are enjoying the story. :)

pipinheart · 11 February 2005 · Chapter 2: Awakening
Very well done... You can see the concern everyone has for Pippin. he sleeps a lot,and is in great pain. He wakes to a voice he dosen't reconize, and then you can sense the fear he has once seeing Gimli. He dosen't reconize him and dosen't recall what has happened and panics. This is great, enjoyed reading it very much...Update soon...
Author's reply
Thanks! I have another chapter that will be ready for posting soon. :)
TopazTook · 9 February 2005 · Chapter 2: Awakening
I am so glad to see you are telling the story of "A New Kind of Courage" from the POV of Pippin's experiences. As I said in my review of that story, you are the first writer I have seen who has done anything specifically with the head injury, and I find that greatly interesting to read. Poor Pippin...he seems to be especially young in this story, hurt as he is. Looking forward to more PippinAngst--and some coddling so he gets better!:)
Author's reply
Pippin does come across as a bit young in this story (and in parts of 'Courage' as well). A lot of that is the function of his injuries and confusion. He matures so much during the course of the Quest but right now he doesn't remember any of that and he still perceives himself as the young, irresponsible lad he was before he left the Shire. I'm happy to know you're enjoying this so far! :)
Hai Took · 9 February 2005 · Chapter 2: Awakening
Poor Pippin! To be in so much pain and with "strangers" but be frightening! I hope they are able to make good progress in becoming friends again. I'm sure it is a little upsetting for Gimli as well, someone he has come to love not knowing and even afraid of him! Looking forward to more!
Author's reply
Pippin's awakening was difficult for everyone involved, lol. It's especially hard for Pippin thought, because not only has he lost a chunk of memory and woken up among strangers, they aren't even hobbits. It would have to be totally overwhelming. I'm glad you liked this chapter! :)
Pearl Took · 9 February 2005 · Chapter 2: Awakening
Poor dear frightened Pip!!! And bless Gimli for being so gentle and caring with the lad.
Author's reply
I've always loved Gimli. His feelings go so much deeper than he's ever willing to admit. :)
Grey Wonderer · 8 February 2005 · Chapter 2: Awakening
I found myself thinking how lucky it is that Pippin had at least seen Dwarves as a child thanks to Bilbo. He may not know who Gimli is, but at least he knows something about him. I think that Aragorn will have his hands full when he tries to explain all of this to Pippin once he comes around again. they really do need Merry at this point, don't they? I do love how this fits with "Courage".
Author's reply
Yeah, it's gonna be fun for Aragorn. He's going to have to think very carefully about what and how much he tells Pippin. It will all be so much easier once Merry is there, but that is still a few days away. :)
Larner · 8 February 2005 · Chapter 2: Awakening
Recovery isn't going to be particularly easy, I fear. And I can see the effects of the concussion are pretty severe. So far I've not seen anything particularly at odds with Merry's story.
Author's reply
Pippin's brain has been rattled but good, poor lad. He's going to have a rough time of it, particularly until Merry arrives. But he'll get through it in his own Pippinish way. :)
Larner · 8 February 2005 · Chapter 1: Finding
Well written. I can imagine Pippin is indeed feeling quite sick right now.
Author's reply
Thanks. Yes, the poor lad is really suffering right now.

That's the lovely thing about Pippin. He's stubborn and he will do what he has to do, regardless of size. :)
Pearl Took · 6 February 2005 · Chapter 1: Finding
Oh! Our my poor wee brother!!!! Well done thus far . . . carry on :)
Author's reply
Poor Pippin, indeed. The lad is in for some rough times, but with a little help from his friends, he'll come through fine. Thanks for reading. :)
Mysterious Jedi · 6 February 2005 · Chapter 1: Finding
