Ahhh. Some happy Feanor and Nerdanel. He's not the world's most empathetic elf, but he can get messages that are signalled so plainly.
I feel so sorry for Nerdanel. However happy she was - and it didn't last for ever - she was abandoned by them all in the end. And left alone until the end of days.

· Chapter 59: Fathers and Grandfathers (Elrond, Celeborn)
Lovely. This must be a moment that some part of Celeborn relishes. At last Elrond knows what it is like to have some unworthy male carry off your precious daughter.
And, since Celeborn may not sail, the end is not so different. But, just as Elrond was not such a bad son-in-law, Aragorn adores Arwen and will do his best to make her happy.
I love the picture of Elrond letting Celebrian greet Galadriel first - before he and she indulge in rather more . . . adult activities.

· Chapter 58: Following in the Right Footsteps (Boromir, Faramir)
Aww. Boromir is such a good big brother. A tad bossy, but very right in this instance; Faramir has to learn to drink properly.
Great moment between the two brothers.

· Chapter 13: Garden Secrets (Faramir, Éowyn)
A lovely, secret, best shared - Faramir is wise enough not to rebuke his wife or try to stop her from maintaining her sword-arm; but gives her respect and challenge in his request to spar with her.

· Chapter 52: Role Models (Boromir, Denethor, Saruman)
I really wanted to slap Saruman's hand away from Boromir's shoulder, there. But it's sadly typical of Boromir that he doesn't look as deeply as his brother; and would be more impressed by Saruman than by Mithrandir. I would wager that Denethor was not impressed by either wizard, and was just trying to get whatever use he could out of ol' White-Hand.
Good job!

Awesome little piece!

Thanks! I think I had just ODd on Éowyn gives birth stories and had to try something different.

· Chapter 45: Legends of Our Times (Éowyn)
Yes, child. Even heroines grow old - if they are lucky.
I wonder who broke it to the child that the slayer of the Witch King and the ancient dame were the same person - and whether it was a wonder or a disappointment.
Author's reply
It was probably Éowyn herself in gales of laughter and they ended up best of friends. Thanks.
Legolas gets to be Gollum!
What an image!
I can just picture the elf indulging Eldarion with such games, regardless of how he looked.
And Aragorn would make a terrific Sam - he shares a lot of the same qualities.
Author's reply
Do you think Faramir walked by and was coerced into reprising the capture at Henneth Annun? I'm glad you liked it. Thanks.
That's my heroic, kind-as-summer Elrond. If there is anyone who could accept this situation and behave graciously, it would be him!
Not to mention I wouldn't want to be at Imladris with Arwen if he decided any differently.
Author's reply
Anyone who had spent nearly 40 years trying to fulfill nearly impossible conditions would certainly have been sensitive to the nuances - king of Gondor and Arnor. Thanks.

· Chapter 50: King's Justice (Aragorn or Faramir - your choice)
I prefer to see this as Faramir. Of course, I am biased, but also - I doubt the King would have traveled the land just for court proceedings. Works for me.
Author's reply
I rather liked the idea of the king-in-disguise, but then had the same qualms, so left it ambiguous. Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

LOL. I love it when authors add a touch of the timeless.

I have peonies in my garden and I *never* use them as cut flowers because they always bring in an infestation of little brown ants with them into the house. Thanks.

· Chapter 46: Practice Makes Perfect (Boromir)
Wonderful to see this side of him.
Author's reply
Boromir was primarily a warrior, but he was also a Gondorian gentleman. He must have had a good well-rounded education. Thanks.

Faramir! I would have suspected this of Boromir, in awe of the 'hero' in the tales, whether he admitted in front of his father or not. To see this type of passionate disappointment in Faramir is a testament to how seriously the Gondorians took their battle stories.
Author's reply
I can see Faramir hearing conflicting stories and asking for 'the truth' and not being happy with Denethor's version either. Yes, I think Gondor had to take battle stories very seriously. Thanks.

Just had a great time reading your last drabbles, loved them all. The one with with Eldarion and Legolas pretending is great, Legolas as Gollum, how wonderful.

Thank you so much! I never thought I'd like drabbles so much, but they are addictive and fun!

· Chapter 37: Juggling Act (House of Hurin)
What a nice change to read about quality time for the Steward's household! A perfectly plausible scene, colorfully and realistically described. I particularly liked your including Imrahil and his son, and the idea of grumpy Denethor enjoying the scene despite his misgivings about homeland security.
Author's reply
Thank you! I don't see the Steward's family as disfunctional. Denethor was troubled at the end of his life, but surely he did a good job as Steward for many years.
I always did think Aragorn the king would miss mingling with the normal folk. Somehow I can't see him enjoying a stuffy court function nearly as much as a beer in the lower levels. And very nice that Arwen understands him well enough to let him escape now and then.
Author's reply
I'm sure Aragron is very good at navigating formal functions, but the celebration in the city is so much more fun. Glad you enjoyed it.

· Chapter 27: What's in a Name...? (Arwen)
Oh, I found this quite disturbing. Not sure why - maybe I'm upset on Arwen's behalf, having to endure such unpleasantness, or maybe I feel sorry for Aragorn to have such a nasty forefather (sheesh, as if Isildur didn't leave enough baggage for his descendants, you've gone and saddled him with another one!). Very well written. Chilling, but well written.
Author's reply
So many generations of chieftains, I thought one could be less than completely noble and wonderful. And we can hope that he found a good Dúnedain wife who licked some sense into him and he repented of his earlier behavior in the end. Glad you found it 'chilling'. Thank you!

· Chapter 27: What's in a Name...? (Arwen)
Okay I had to reread it twice! Altogether thrice, arraghh slow!
But I do like, and icky on the old Ara, just as well he met wolves lol
Author's reply
I always wondered why our Aragorn was named for someone killed by wolves. It seemed so unlikely. Sorry it confused you at first, but I'm glad I did give enough clues so you could figure it out in the end.
I like this. Alike even in their decision to step slightly out of their customary orc-slaying habits.
(Poor Elrond. All three of them facing a last battle at the Black Gate. And Arwen likely to die of grief should they be killed.)
Author's reply
Yes. I tried to give them different but complimentary reasons for going. Thank you!

Thanks for putting my birthday drabble here, Gwynnyd! I loves it, precious! I love the Haradrim AND the House of Hurin, and having it in one drabble is great. Ah, Denethor, smart, wise, powerful, slightly mad, misunderstood by fangirls Denethor, is finally shown as he is. And Elphir, Boromir, Faramir, Finduilas, and Imrahil were fabulous! *huggles them*
Namarie!
