Lindelea · 1 June 2005 · Chapter 12: Fading Scars

Lovely picture of the two of them together.

Lindelea · 1 June 2005 · Chapter 11: Cormallen drabble

How observant Sam is! (But then, he's a gardener, and I think gardeners fine-tune their perceptions. After all, when a plant is sickening, you want to catch it early, and you want to water *before* the leaves are drooping!) A very nice picture, and fascinating contrast between the Knights on-duty and off-duty.

Lindelea · 1 June 2005 · Chapter 13: The courtship of Merry and Estella

"their laughs rippled like water over stones" What a lovely sound to imagine! No, of course he would not look like the warrior who saved the Shire, not when wooing her. I love seeing this side of Merry all the more for the courage that went before.

Author's reply

Thank you! Yes I think that side of him gets a deeper perspective too after all he`s been through. :)

Larner · 31 May 2005 · Chapter 13: The courtship of Merry and Estella

Lovely view of the courtship.

Thank you! :)

Larner · 26 May 2005 · Chapter 9: Sam drabble

Yes, Sam holds the soul of the Shire in his heart.

Author's reply

He does, doesn`t he? I`m glad you enjoyed it.

Larner · 26 May 2005 · Chapter 12: Fading Scars

Lovely image to think of in terms of Merry, able to forget the fading scars in the arms of the one who honors and loves them for the sake of he who bears them.

Author's reply

Thank you!

Larner · 26 May 2005 · Chapter 11: Cormallen drabble

Yes, I can see this need in Merry.

Author's reply

Yes. I`m glad you liked it.

Larner · 14 May 2005 · Chapter 9: Sam drabble

Wonderful look at our Sam from Merry's point of view.

Author's reply

Thank you! :)

Larner · 14 May 2005 · Chapter 6: Farewell

Yes, an interesting gap-filler again. Yes, Bilbo would say "hello" to say "goodbye."

Author's reply

Thanks. Yes I think he would do that too. :)

Larner · 14 May 2005 · Chapter 4: A Rocky Path

The Healer-King with the good bedside banter. "See what you have done for yourself? Now, don't look at the healer behind the mask of the Ranger...."

Author's reply

Lol. Well, he knows how to speak to the hobbits to make them at ease.

Larner · 14 May 2005 · Chapter 3: Cruel Caradhras

Very nice and plausible gap-filler. Thanks.

Author's reply

Thanks!

Lindelea · 12 May 2005 · Chapter 10: Merry drabble

Oh, this is lovely, and Merry's voice sounds very true.

Author's reply

Thank you! :)

Grey Wonderer · 12 May 2005 · Chapter 3: Cruel Caradhras

This was very good and I found myself wishing that it continued on when I reached the end.

Author's reply

Oh, thank you! :)

Grey Wonderer · 11 May 2005 · Chapter 1: Spring Fever

I remember enjoying this one when you posted it to the Hobbit_ficathon site but it was fun reading it again. It's a sweet look at Merry and Estella.

Author's reply

Thank you!

Grey Wonderer · 11 May 2005 · Chapter 6: Farewell

Just found this one tonight and enjoyed it very much. I liked seeing this from Merry's POV. Interesting since Merry had seen Bilbo disappearing act once before.

Author's reply

Yes and he would be very observant especially when Merry`s grandfater and Bilbo are having that sort of silent conversation.

Lindelea · 2 May 2005 · Chapter 3: Cruel Caradhras

Oh! I have had altitude sickness! Got within 100 feet (altitude) of a summit and simply couldn't continue, had to go back down some ways and wait for my friend to get to the top and back. Sent my camera along so at least I have photos from the summit, but it wasn't the same thing as standing there myself... Well done!

Author's reply

Oh, I`m sorry to hear that! And thanks. It`s an old bunny that I didn`t really know how to write before Birch Tree asked for Merry h/c. I was only too happy to oblige, lol.

Lindelea · 2 May 2005 · Chapter 6: Farewell

I liked reading about the Party from Merry's perspective. You throw in lots of little details to give the scene interest, like the significant looks passing between Merry's grandfather and Bilbo, for instance.

Author's reply

Thank you! I found this rather difficult to write as so many others have written about the party before (included me). Merry is very observant and sees a lot and knowing Bilob and Rory were good friends he`d look out for signs of his grandfather possibly knowing what Bilbo was about to do. And he has read the book and seen the Ring so I think he`s extra alert around the time of the Party. :)

Lindelea · 2 May 2005 · Chapter 5: Knight of Rohan

A nice summation of their relationship.

Author's reply

Thank you! :)

Lindelea · 2 May 2005 · Chapter 7: Merry

O I am beaming! This is absolutely delightful! You have a sure grasp of both characters, Sam and my beloved Merry. And what a wonderful turn of phrase: "gentle as his birth". Very nice play on words. You have painted such a vivid picture I can easily see it in my head, the two of them down on their knees, hands in the dirt, talking...

Author's reply

Oh, thank you! *blushes* This is one of my first tries at drabbles but I think Sam and Merry really are close friends - despite all their differences. :)

Mysterious Jedi · 20 April 2005 · Chapter 4: A Rocky Path

What would Frodo do without Sam? I think Sam is the real hero of the whole story, he was the most faithful and least corrupted. Of course I realize Frodo was the primary Ringbearer and could hardly help being affected, but it's true that we wouldn't have gotten anywhere without his gardener! <>< Saved from sin through Christ, MJ

Author's reply

i haven`t explored Sam and Frodo`s relationship much - there are so many others who do that, and do it wonderful, so I mostly stick to Merry, but this was written on request for a Sam-lover. And I agree with you, Sam is the overall hero of the story. :)

Mysterious Jedi · 19 April 2005 · Chapter 3: Cruel Caradhras

Poor, ill hobbit! Give Merry a hug for me! <>< Saved from sin through Christ, MJ

Author's reply

*hugs Merry* Thank you! :)
