Larner · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

To see the relationship as it might have developed had Frodo and Aragorn met then is interesting, and to see the love already growing and so strongly. Thanks for a wonderful story.

Author's reply

I've had such a wonderful time imagining this storyline, and these relationships. I'm very happy you've enjoyed it.

TheHobbitWaffle · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

All's well that ends well for Hobbits, Rangers, and Pups. Though I must ask Estel to make more visits in the future!

Author's reply

So glad you enjoyed the story! A wise Ranger would visit his hobbit friends (and their pups) as often as possible. :D

girlofring · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

such a lovely departing chapter to a wonderfully written adventurous story!

Author's reply

Thank you so much. I always worry about endings, and whether or not they'll make the story feel complete. I really appreciate your kind words.

Andrea · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

“Frodo, this is for you,” Thalguron said with a sly grin, and presented the tween with a tiny replica of Scamp, complete with long ears and mischievous look. - What a beautiful gift. I'd like to see it. Thank you Shirebound for a perfect ending to this great story. And to conclude my review, I'd like to quote: “It was wonderful,” Merry said happily. “When can we do it again?” :)

Author's reply

Thank you Andrea -- especially for wanting to "do it again"! I'm so happy to be able to share these stories. I certainly hope to have another in the works soon. :D

Auntiemeesh · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

This has been a delightful story from start to finish. It's easy to see how Frodo grew to be the hobbit he is, with such a loving, nurturing, adolescence behind him and such wise and caring folks teaching him how to be a grown hobbit. :D

Author's reply

Oh thank you! That's one of the exact themes I'm trying to bring out -- that Frodo was a very unique boy, noticed and nurtured by some very unique people.

Amy · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

Perfect! Food & books & parting gifts & the need to meet again! Thanks so much for this charming story!

Author's reply

Thank *you*, Amy! :D

Sila Lumenn · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

*contented sigh* So when do you start the next one? ;D

Author's reply

You sweetie! There's always a strange, bittersweet interlude between the completion of one idea and the formation of another. But no matter what evolves next, I suspect (keep this under your hat) there will be hobbits involved. :D

SlightlyTookish · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

One honorary Baggins and two honorary Brandybucks! What could be a better honor? This was a great end to a great story - I'm looking forward to your next one :)

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I have such fun playing in this 'universe'. I think of us all as honorary hobbits.

harrowcat · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

I have tears in my eyes Shirebound as this is so lovely and I didn't want it to end. Do you entertain requests? I would love an epilogue, or even just a drabble showing Aragorn hearing Bilbo's poem for the first time as a birthday present in October. (But I know life is busy and words come as they will so don't worry about saying no!)

Author's reply

That's a lovely idea for an epilogue or drabble. I can't promise anything for a particular time, but happy early birthday, my friend! Thank you so much for reading, and letting me know you were enjoying this.

Dreamflower · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

What a lovely ending! Honorary Brandybucks! How fitting! I love "I Sit Beside the Fire". Have you ever heard the sweet melody for it that Donald Swann came up with in The Road Goes Ever On?

Author's reply

I haven't heard the poem put to music, but I'll have to check it out. That particular poem always makes me tear up because it's so poignant.

Pearl Took · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

Ah, a pleasant end to another hobbity "shirebound" adventure. *sigh* I do so love your writing and your particular Middle-earth. Thank you for gifting us with your skills and love. My birthday was a most excellent birthday, thank you :)

Author's reply

I'm so happy you enjoyed this... and that you had a most excellent birthday!

Breon Briarwood · 24 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

*applauds* That was great! I'm with Merry, "When can we do it again"?

Author's reply

Thanks, Breon! And special thanks for your great idea about there being more honorary hobbits! What fun.

Dreamflower · 20 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

How adorable! I just want to *squish* wee!Pippin. He’s so cute I could eat him with a spoon! And I liked Frodo’s and Bilbo’s conversation. Frodo’s a very intelligent and perceptive lad, and in this particular case, more perceptive than Bilbo. He somehow *knows* Bilbo’s unnatural youth is a problem, though not why. Very well done!

Pearl Took · 16 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

“That youngster enjoys every experience as if he will not see another sunrise,” Thalguron marveled. “We would all do well to do the same,” Bilbo replied, and everyone nodded in agreement. Amen and Amen! Knitted Pippin likes duckies too, he drew one for me in my 50th Anniv. ed. of LOTR when I met him :) A wonderful story indeed!

Amy · 16 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

Clearly, none of us can resist toddler!Pippin! His baby talk, art skills, full-body wriggling with happiness like a puppy, bag of toys, helping Aragorn ride: he's a irresistible "force." Heh. Sorry that our slumber party with hobbits and rangers is coming to an end. I'm glad to see that Aragorn has picked up cooking skills from his hobbit friends. And maybe they had cunning kitchen gear as well!

Baggins Babe · 16 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

Awwwwwwwwww! I'm a gooey puddle now after all that Pippin-cuteness! How adorable to be surrounded by little hobbits! *happy sigh* This was lovely and I thought you handled the difficult conversation between Bilbo and Frodo beautifully. Poor Frodo must be afraid that everyone is going to leave him. Loved Halbarad lapsing into Pip-speak! :-)) And Thalguron carving the duck for his new friend. Love this happy universe and I do hope you write other stories set there. *Off to hoover all the fluff out of computer*

harrowcat · 16 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

You really should issue 'fluff-buster' alerts for some of your chapters Shire-bound. My computer is so clogged it is stuck on SOA. Not exactly a woeful situation I know but do have RL work to do!

The Hobbit Waffle · 16 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

Poor Frodo, he's always being left behind. His parents leave him, then Bilbo leaves him. Then the ring goes byebye once he's hooked. At least he gets his just desserts in the end and does the leaving instead. Though I really wish he hadn't, makes me sad.

Larner · 16 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

Ah, my--so early for Frodo to begin already feel guilt about that horrid thing! But he's the responsible Hobbit I've always envisioned, after all. And love Pippin's ducks!

Tigger · 15 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

Awww...I loved how Halbarad lapsed into Pippish speak. (W/thanks to Grey Wonderer for how Pip speaks. :oD ) Too cute!! Poor Frodo, feeling so guilty over almost taking the Ring. It's a very good thing he's got Bilbo there for him. Sigh...Aragorn and Thalugron will be taking Halbarad back to him "Mummy" and that means this delightful story is almost over. :o( Sigh...I love this universe and will miss it when this visit is over. Hope for another one based in this world soon Shirebound m'dear!! Oh and I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to leave a review for the last chapter. The last few weeks have been beyond insane. For the first time, I don't think I can say I'm looking forward to the next chapter, because the next one will be the end. And now...I'm going to go and try to tail Aragorn and Pippin. Maybe if I'm lucky, I can lead them away from the direction of Brandy Hall and over to my place for a visit. ;o)

Anso the Hobbit · 15 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

Love your energetic, wee Pip! :D Frodo does have many questions and I can udnerstand that Bilbo finds it difficult to answer and how much to say. Frodo is still very young. And the Ranger teaching Merry tracking? Ì bet Merry will be a good student and proud of the skills he`ll obtain, boosting about them until Frodo and Pip (and everyone else) get tired of hearing about it, lol.

SlightlyTookish · 15 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

Eee!! I love this chapter! I love Frodo and Bilbo's conversation (a realistic concern for Frodo, and I like how Bilbo handled it) and all the cute Pippin-ness! Dwawing fwogs and carved wooden ducks, and wriggling with happiness! Your wee Pippin is so cute, I wish he could have stayed longer! *wriggles*

EllyBaggins · 15 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

“Do you weally like my ducks?” “I weally... I mean, I really do.” I really like the way you've given Halbarad that extra bit of personality, and pippin wanting to learn to 'twack' even if he didn't know what it meant! this was a really nice updtae....but something tells me this story's going to end soon. You must must write something else from this universe!!

Andrea · 15 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

Pippin touched one of the crutches with his toe. “Do you weally like my ducks?” “I weally... I mean, I really do.” LOL! The Tookish accent is really infectious, isn't it? I liked the talk between Bilbo and Frodo. Bilbo answers were very gentle and reassuring.

Elwen · 15 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

Bilbo's answer to Frodo was so perfect.
