Just came across this and I loved it, such a bitter sweet story. "Ross" is also an archaic German word for "Steed" so a fitting name in more than one language!

That was quite a sweet little story. I can just see that happening. Also, your link doesn't work properly, it might be because you have smart quotes turned on.

Thanks. Don't think I had smart quotes (whatever they may be) turned on, but either way I couldn't fix it so I've taken the link out.

Such a sweet piece! The characters rings true and I especially like the way you connect them through the memories of horses. Too many authors act as thought Faramir would have no experience (he rode them in battle, for heaven's sake!) and this one gives him a tie to Eowyn that they can share. The ending, btw, definitely worked. -Laura

Thank you! Thinking about it, my Faramir seems to almost always be some how connected to horses. Odd. I wasn't doing it deliberately - I guess I just must see him that way.

Lovely piece about a boy's love for a horse. Thankfully the boy grew up and wed a girl who also loved horses. Excellent use of Sindarin in naming Boromir and Faramir's horses...

Thanks, Raksha. Hiswelókë's Sindarin dictionary is a wonderful thing. ;-)

Sweet! Beautiful quotation at the end. I love to watch horses although I don't ride. I like to watch them run around a field without a rider. Charming couple there, yes.... cheers Armariel~~~{~@

Thanks, Armariel. I had awful trouble finding an ending for the story so I'm pleased to hear that you liked it.

Lovely. You do these characters so well, Avon, suggesting so much with the scenes you draw.

Gosh, thanks! That means a lot coming from a writer like you.
