Your Bilbo poetry is just wonderful! So very like him, and so very hobbity!

Dreamflower · 11 July 2005 · Chapter 7: Dogged Steps

Bilbo's begun thinking about Frodo now... That was quite a scary encounter with the dog; I kept expecting the owner to show up, and was surprised he didn't. Interesting version of the Maggot story, never occurred to me that Bilbo could possibly have been with Frodo.

Thank you so much for your encouraging reviews - it has made my day very delightful. :-) "...Interesting version of the Maggot story, never occurred to me that Bilbo could possibly have been with Frodo." No credit to me for this one - the idea was taken from Tolkien's rough drafts in the History of Middle-earth books - having Bilbo with Frodo, and Bilbo accidently killing one of Maggot's dogs with a blow was a rabbit-trail of the Professor's that he discarded, as he thought it was too harsh. Of course they were named Bilbo and *Bingo* at the time, heh. I thought it an interesting idea, so I took the liberty of tucking it back in. - Prim

Dreamflower · 11 July 2005 · Chapter 6: Fool's Gold

*melts into puddle of goo* That was just about the sweetest thing I've read in a long time. I think I am in love with your Bilbo...

Dreamflower · 11 July 2005 · Chapter 5: Small Lands

Aaw, that last little bit was sad, wasn't it, with the farmer just assuming that Bilbo had grown children somewhere... I absolutely loved your beautiful description of the country and of the walk and the mist. You have a very well developed sense of place, and wonderful pacing. Your Shire matches up so very well with JRRT's, and so does your style.

Dreamflower · 11 July 2005 · Chapter 4: The Mathom-House Harp

So Bilbo is beginning to wonder what will become of his things when the S.-B.s get their hands on them? Wise of him. I love the description of the two old hobbits morning grumps, and also of the mathom house, which I don't believe I've ever seen described before.

Dreamflower · 11 July 2005 · Chapter 3: Hugo's Bookcase

*giggle* This was wonderful! I know about folks who borrow books and don't return them! And poor Hugo's memory sounds like my husband. Sometimes we will be on the road driving, and he'll look at me and say "Now where were we going?" LOL! I loved the part about Bilbo cleverly "rescuing" his book, and it's quite a little lead in to later on when he leaves Hugo the bookcase. Well, I've got to go to work in a few minutes. I'm looking forward to more of this lovely story when I come home.

Dreamflower · 11 July 2005 · Chapter 2: Westward Wandering

This is just delightful! There are so few stories of just Bilbo, or mostly Bilbo, and I really think there should be more! I'm so glad you have decided to come to Stories of Arda!! I loved the way Bilbo got distracted by a book, and the bit with Marigold chewing on her sister's apron...too cute!

Dreamflower · 11 July 2005 · Chapter 1: Mad Baggins in the Spring

Oh golly, what a beginning! Poor Bilbo!*chuckle* And I loved the "tweenaged son Offal"--no wonder he was awful, with such a name, poor thing! I'm going to love this, I can tell!

Larner · 10 July 2005 · Chapter 1: Mad Baggins in the Spring

Oh, it is such a pleasure to see this tale here. I've told several folk about it on FFN, and I think it highly appropriate to post here, too. Glad to see you aboard! Welcome indeed!
