Another lovely story! Conceived and born full of light and grace, strengthened from the first for that very special task he was made for.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I read this AGES ago, but just realized that I didn't review it! D'oh! I absolutely LOVE this story, BB. Just amazing. Frodo truly is special, and I love how he was concieved by "starlight"... that is so full of meaning and imagery it's just amazing. I keep using that word... better find another one. ;)
And I especially like Gandalf's hand in all of it.. naming a hobbit indeed! :) And Prim's dreams... oh my. I remember being amazed by them the first time I read that, and I still am. How sad for her to know her son's end and yet not know it. I just loved this story.

How nice to find such lovely reviews - quite made my evening.
poor Prim - there is no way she could even begin to imagine what would befall him (just as well)but as a far-sighted Took she knows it will not be pleasant.
Starlight is so meaningful in Tolkien's story and the imagery was there.

Wow! Amazing! Oh, I can't imagine Frodo being called Bingo! *shudder* And your baby Frodo is so beautiful! :-) God bless,
Galadriel
Author's reply
Interestingly, Bingo was the name Professor Tolkien had for his hobbit hero originally. Only later did it change to Frodo (thankfully). So I was rather naughty there. :-))
Glad you liked it - I couldn't resist a little foreshadowing in this story - Primula was a grand-daughter of Gerontius Took, after all. Those odd Tooks and their funny ways!

What a lovely concept runs through this story, and I loved the quote from Shakespeare. You so perfectly explain why 'our' Frodo looks so different from other hobbits, and I have to tell you, the mental picture of Gandalf holding the infant Frodo just melted me. This was beautifully and affectionally conceived and written.
Author's reply
It seems there was always something a bit different about Frodo, and he is often described as having an Elvish air. Oh I loved writing this, and I turned into a wibbly puddle at the idea of Gandalf with baby Frodo! Thank you for you wonderful comments.

"Who knows what the ridiculous Bagginses may be capable of in the years to come?"
I love that line!
Wonderful as always! :-)
Author's reply
I always loved that line of Gandalf's in 'The Shadow of the Past' when he says what a terrible blow it would be if all the hobbits, including the ridiculous Bagginses were enslaved. Couldn't resist slipping it in there.
Nice to know you enjoyed the story - you just have to love Bilbo and Gandalf, and baby Frodo, of course!

I enjoyed this BB and a lovely take on the birth of Frodo. Trust Gandalf to be around with his gentle wisdom. And I love the connection between Primula and Bilbo.
Author's reply
I've always thought that Bilbo and Primula would have had some sort of connection, both being born to daughters of the Old Took.
Gandalf is such fun to write and I wanted him to have a connection to Frodo from the first. I think we could all learn something from Gandalf's widom and compassion I think.

Aha, so, the same Nuzgul has left its traces on you, has it? Lovely! And love the quote from Shakespeare--very appropriate!
Author's reply
I started this a few weeks ago and then real life got in the way. Guess the Nuzgul popped in to London, or sent a close relative! The cats were not pleased.
Many thanks for your comments.

"There is no reason why a remarkable soul should not be born in the Shire. Perhaps the Valar are beginning to share my opinion that hobbits are amazing and interesting people."
Fascinating as always, BB!

Author's reply
I like to think that Gandalf took an interest in our favourite hobbit from his earliest days. Glad you enjoyed it.
