I am reviewing this here since I happen to be... well... here. This was just beautiful, Tinnuial. I felt Legolas' sadness, and how painful it is that he can't really share this with Estel. The heart-to-heart with Elrond was just heartrending, it was so 'you'. And it was a nice touch - using this to explain why Legolas was chosen for the Quest. I, too, love taking book canon and weaving tales to fill in the blanks or to explain why certain choices were made. Nicely done again. Thank you. :-)

I'm glad you didn't have Legolas kill the stag. It was unexpected that he didn't, I thought surely he was and was mentally grumbling about it. ANyway, I've enjoyed this story and I hope to read more.

Another lovely chapter, Tinnuail. I love it that Legolas stays true to his elven character and gentleness. If you write this tale to the end of Aragorn's life, you're going to have me in tears as I was at the closing of This is My Path. *sniff* Are you going to? Could you send me an email to warn me first (in case you don't want to give away the rest of your story)? I already feel teary. As for whether I *mind* your pointing readers to Once Upon A Strongbow - are you kidding? :-) I would love for more and more people to read our stories - ANY of our stories - on a friendship that many of us consider so beautiful. So - thank you! *Hugs and kisses*

Hey Tinnuial, A lovely story here. I like seeing how all 4 "brothers" get on with each other. It's especially nice to read about their closeness in happy, peaceful times. I think that helps them to survive the war & tragedies about to come their way. Legolass' insight is great and I too was glad that he didn't kill the stag but I really loved how you had Estel, Elladan & Elrohir support him. Great friends really do last a life time. Write again, Eliza
Legolass · 21 August 2005 · Chapter 4: The Nature of Mortality
It cannot have been an easy moment for the immortal - to finally realise that whereas elves are born to live forever, mortals begin to die the moment they are born. A sad truth for all of us in the 'real world', and a sad one, too, for Legolas in our stories. You wrote Legolas' disquieting realisation well, Tinnuial.

Great story, I love Estel and the twins stories. I like that part about the tavern maid who took a fancy to Aragorn. And that Estel has grown to nearly the height of the twins. Poor Legolas has just realized that Estel could DIE. looking forward to more.

Wonderful story. I really enjoy the interaction between all of Elrond's children and Legolas. I'm not sure about the 16 points but since it is Middle Earth there very well could be a deer that big. Elves would use all of the deer, including the antlers, in their everyday living. Maybe you could make a ceremony celebrating the deer or something and what he has given them. Also, it would be understandable for the twins to act immaturely around Estel since to them he is still a child. Thanks for sharing your story with us.

Thank you for the kind review and good suggestion. I have something planned that would be ....suitable for the story I think. :) Cheers!

Ahhh! It's good to have you back! Good luck on those exams! As for the stag, I think it's quite possible to have one with sixteen points, heaven knows I would like to see one of those!!! This was a great chapter, and I look forward to more! Galimeril

There is little room for innocence in the situation in which these find themselves.

With regards to your review of Chapter One: Point taken. Personally, I felt that characterisations of the twins did turn out a tad less mature than I envisioned them. But I figured even princes and sons of great lords have their lighthearted moments, grown or not. The reunion of old friends is occasion enough for merriment surely. I suppose to be entirely faithful to canon, the "old friends" bit would require an AU tag too since Tolkien never spoke of such a friendship. Then again, I never claimed this to be anything other than Fan Fiction, which surely allows for some liberties; liberties that I am most certainly not the first to take. According to the Appendices, the twins were born in year 130 of the Third Age, making them about two centuries shy of three thousand. A birthdate for Legolas was never given, but I have chosen to follow Michael Martinez and Ellen Brundige's lead where his age is concerned. Both have written rather fascinating analyses of Legolas and both have come to the conclusion that he can't be much more than 700 or 800 years old at most, possibly closer to 500. I think I read somewhere that elves come of age around 50 but are not considered full-grown till a few centuries afer. 5-700 would make him rather young for an elf now wouldn't it, though certainly older than any of his companions in the fellowship. However, it really is relative. Pippin is older than Eomer, but Pippin is still considered a "tween" where Eomer is Marshal of the Riddermark. I am no Tolkien scholar. I am merely playing with characters and stories to which I am entitled an interpretation, just as you are entitled to yours. As for the review for Chapter 2, perhaps when I have the leisure to revise my work, I shall have to re-emphasize that Elrond is mourning his children's loss of innocence, as any parent would, no matter how old his children are. Thank you for your review. It will help shape the story now, should I find the inspiration to continue it.
Larner · 2 August 2005 · Chapter 1: The Children Are Home
And just when is an elf an adult? Elladan and Elrohir are probably close to four thousand years old, and Legolas remembered the search for the Entwives, which is also several thousand years past. But it's enjoyable to see friendship blooming.
