Larner · 5 April 2007 · Chapter 50: Niëramilo

The curse of Namo was so sweeping, and so devastating. Now she must weep, bereft of what made life fair for her.

Larner · 5 April 2007 · Chapter 50: Seduction...Creation...Love...Loss...

What a great waste of talent and skill beyond compare.

Larner · 5 April 2007 · Chapter 5: Cursed Commitment

Those who remained behind must have known far too much grief, loss and confusion at the choice of those who followed Feanor's sons eastward into Middle Earth.

Larner · 5 April 2007 · Chapter 21: So....Do You Come Here Often?

Giggling over this one.

Selene Aduial · 5 April 2007 · Chapter 21: So....Do You Come Here Often?

*snort* She is mad indeed, but then again ... they are nice elves ;)

Rhapsody · 6 December 2005 · Chapter 4: Strawberries in Spring

Oh wow... I never gave it so much thought on what could have passed through Sam's mind when he holds Frodo on the slopes of Mount Doom like that. Just the icky taste of ashes on your lips and what does your comrade give you.. the visual of sweet and plumb strawberries. Great job Alassante, you captured this moment incredibly well!

Well, here we have the Noldolante... well almost, captured in 200 words... and what a stunning read Alassante! Fëanor's life and demise, the legacy he leaves behind and the utter destruction of such a powerful elven race.. What I especially enjoyed was how you wrote about the creation of the Silmarils. Three seperate 'entities', seducing this master craftsman to create Jewels that caused so much misery. It leaves me wondering if this was the initial purpose of the Jewels to begin with... who knows. :) Very thought provoking, incredibly well written and paced. To the reader's eye it has an smooth balance, almost poetry!

Before you showed me this wonderful work, I often found myself wondering how a elven mother could sense the death of her children. I had my own theories about it, but to see it written down in the manner I always assumed made me fell silent and grab for tissues. Alassante, this is truly a gut and heart wrenching piece of work you have written here. I almost want to object that she has to suffer so much pain to experience like this. And this is just the beginning... more will pass away *shiver* Alassante, how can you possible capture this immense pain in just 200 words? Don't answer it, because you did. Her emotions, her physical pain... you capture that extremely well. Fëanor is not longer around to share the anguish with her, so it feels like she gets the double load of it that well. A very emotional piece of work, well balanced and written! Thanks for this!

Rhapsody · 6 December 2005 · Chapter 50: Darkness Falls in the Thousand Caves

Its beauty ignites the fire of desire, which surges in my fëa. The ethereal flame seduces me to once again commit the unforgivable assassination of a fellow kinsman. Celegorm and finding his redemption... too bad that Fëanor's fairest son finds it when his life ebs away... Again, Alassante... hey where did my thoughts wander off to? See, you write this incredible piece featuring Celegorm and I am already at loss for words to relfect my thoughts about it. What can I tell you more... These 200 words are incredibly thoughtprovoking, every time I re-read it, I find something else that either stirrs a plotbunny or gives me another perspective on the fate of the Noldo. Just one more quote that mirrors your outstanding writing (before I end up citing everything here)? "Dior, son of the treacherous Beren, displays Nauglamir around his neck boldly and he will pay for his audacity. He faces me and with deadly force I drive my blade deep into his chest. As triumph fills my heart, pain screams through my body and I look down in disbelief at the dark stain spreading quickly across my gut." In this short piece alone I find myself going from a high (in the sense of: go get him tiger!) to a deep low... Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful Celegorm ficlet... to bad he died ;)

Rhapsody · 6 December 2005 · Chapter 55: Blood Spilt

These drabble series you and Ghettoelleth are writing, are such masterpieces, small Silmarils the two of you give us to read and to ponder about. I remember when I read this double drabble for the first time, I immediately went off to find a sweater to stop those cold shivers crawling up my spine. It's hard to say if particular parts get to me or the feeling over all. Especially with Caranthir here, but oh poor Celegorm... what a demise. In such a brilliant way, you show us his motivations to do what he did, some might see it as utterly evil, but you convey it to me that I feel so incredibly sad for him. Alassante, I have been reading also your older works and I see you making such leaps of progress in your writing, the visuals you give us, the eloquent and poignant wording... truly amazing! Curufin's perspective is incredibly well written and this piece has, as said above, an incredible flow. Oh And Elwing's actions, words... just wow Alassante!

Consuming obsession cost the Elves of Aman and later of Middle Earth so very much. Well written.

Author's reply

Thanks so much! I am such a fan of Feanor I like to try to give him a reason 'why' because I don't think he was truly evil in the pure sense of the word.

Larner · 3 November 2005 · Chapter 50: Niëramilo

To be aware so from such a distance and of such a horrible fate for her sons must have been almost all she could bear. No wonder so many Elves faded when their partners died.

Author's reply

Yes I imagine that losing three sons and knowing that the others were beyond her reach was so hard on her. Thanks for the review!

Larner · 26 October 2005 · Chapter 50: Darkness Falls in the Thousand Caves

Pride and greed destroy so very much. Well written.

Author's reply

Thank you! Yes they say money is the root of all evil but actually greed is I think. And too much pride is dangerous.

Larner · 26 October 2005 · Chapter 55: Blood Spilt

A grievous pronouncement, but well-deserved.

Lindelea · 25 October 2005 · Chapter 3: Last Thoughts

Such anguish, and yet the ending holds out some hope of peace.

Author's reply

Boromir's story always saddens me. He wasn't a bad person but he lost everything including himself before the end.

Armariel · 23 October 2005 · Chapter 32: My Eyes! My Eyes!

WICKEDDDDDDD!!!!! Love it!!!

Author's reply

*bows* Thank you! My Aragorn fanatic friends are still seeking revenge for this one!

Haleth · 16 October 2005 · Chapter 55: Blood Spilt

This is beautiful, Alassante. The imagery is very haunting. It's easy to picture Elwing amid the scene of death. Small wonder she had no sympathy for Curufin. Well done!

Author's reply

The Silmarils caused so much loss and suffering. Its sad to think that they were such a beautiful creation and destroyed so much.

Armariel · 19 September 2005 · Chapter 1: Tales of the Dragon

ROFLMAO!!! Such cleverness. We lovesss it.................roasted marshmallows, hmph.....LOLOLOL

Author's reply

Thank you! I cannot drive the mental picture of Smaug and the Balrog sitting there roasting marshmallows together.

Larner · 17 September 2005 · Chapter 55: Blood Spilt

A worthy remonstrance to those who swore the oath that ought not to have been sworn.

Author's reply

I always wonder how many times they had doubts.

Larner · 17 September 2005 · Chapter 4: Strawberries in Spring

Well worth the read, this one.

Larner · 17 September 2005 · Chapter 32: My Eyes! My Eyes!

This PMF got a chuckle out of it--was quite unready for THAT!

Author's reply

Hehe - yeah many threats of payback have come my way from the PMFs.

Larner · 17 September 2005 · Chapter 3: Last Thoughts

Reassurance at the ending. Thank you for this one--it is quite good indeed.

Author's reply

Thank you!

Larner · 17 September 2005 · Chapter 2: Starlit Night

The restructuring that comes from finding love in ones life, to the point of re-naming oneself.

Author's reply

Yeah but in fact most of us do rename our selves. We go from being Mary Sue Jones to being Mrs. Gary Smith. Its nice to see the guy changing his name for once. :0)

Larner · 17 September 2005 · Chapter 1: Tales of the Dragon

The idea of dwarf s'mores is a real crackup! Oh, this was cute.

Author's reply

Thank you!

LOTR lover · 12 September 2005 · Chapter 32: My Eyes! My Eyes!

Yep, that's my elf! Great description, btw. ;) LOTR lover, self-proclaimed head of the Pervy Glorfindel Fanciers, a subset of the Pervy Elf Fanciers.

Author's reply

And on top of everything - he glows! Ahh...the perfect elf.
