I'm sitting here all weepy. I do the same thing. I brought some stones home from my trip to England and Scotland. It must be the Took in me ;) A wonderful tale indeed :)

Author's reply

It must be! That is wonderful Pearl! : ) I am so glad that you liked the story! Thank you : )

I love this!!! wonderfully done, MarigoldG! I can see them, feeling as tall as the elves, lost to the musick and the magick!

Author's reply

Thank you Pearl! I can see them too, dancing around the fire with their wreaths and bracelets of ivy and brightly coloured leaves, for this night as gay and wild as the Wood Elves themselves... What a painting that would be!

Bodkin · 18 May 2006 · Chapter 2: Stones

Delightful. Minimalists will never understand it! Little objects carry so many memories. I'm glad Pippin found his hoard - and that Merry has started one of his own.

Author's reply

They do indeed! A ticket stub, a little umbrella from a cocktail, a pressed flower...or a rock. Anything that will tweak your memory... : ) Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!

Larner · 17 May 2006 · Chapter 2: Stones

Yes, wonderful means of remembering.

Author's reply

Thank you! I think so too, and have several very special rocks of my own : )

Larner · 17 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Making Merry

Now this is beautifully evocative, with the hints of fear that the magic could possibly end for Merry, and he could find himself in Bilbo's plight, so long ago. Very, very nicely done.

Author's reply

I am so glad that you liked it! I imagine Merry as being a realist with a great deal of common sense, and folks like that who come across magick sometimes can doubt whether or not they are worthy of being caught up in it, if that makes any sense... : ) Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Budgielover · 16 May 2006 · Chapter 2: Stones

Awwww... This is a sweet story, so true to our lads' characters. It is just right that Pip would do something like this, and Merry would question it, being of a more practical turn of mind. I enjoyed the reiteration of their journey thus far, and Pippin's slight defensiveness when drilled about rocks and trees. The end was just perfect, for isn't that why we collect useless things? For the happiness they remind us of. Lovely story!

Author's reply

Thank you so much Budgie, for such a lovely review! I am so glad that you liked the story!

Garnet Took · 16 May 2006 · Chapter 2: Stones

Oh, this is just precious. I can relate so well to Pippin using the stones as markers for memories. I do the same things, but I use songs; less bulky, but much more random. I'm also glad that Merry could loosen up enoght to copy his younger cousin's behavior. Oh, I hope there is more of this story to come. This is a nice counterpoint to the first chapter, but it fits well with it. It's nice to see the light and dark and the shades in between in the events and relationships in piople's lives, and this story is doing that. Thanks. GT.

Author's reply

Thank you Garnet! I think that is one of the qualities of their relationship, that Pippin helps Merry to loosen up, and Merry helps Pippin to settle when he needs to. There will be more to the story! Random glimpses of various high (and low) points of their Adventure : ) Thanks for reading and reviewing!

harrowcat · 16 May 2006 · Chapter 2: Stones

Oh this is just perfect Marigold. I collect stornes too and for that very reason but my difficulty is in remembering where i collected them. *g* But I want to hear about the rest of the adventure now!

Author's reply

I have the same difficulty! The only two in my collection that I can really remember is one from a beach in Lancashire that has an outline of a dwarf weathered into it, and a lovely grey shiny one that KnittedPippin picked up in Scotland and named Peter for some reason : ) Llinos looks upon my picking up rocks much like Merry used to look at Pippin - she is the more practical one! Thanks for reading and reviewing, and more parts will come, I promise!

"Merry and Pippin accepted with delight, although Sam was busy with re-planting the Shire and sowing seed of another kind." (*snorts laughter*--I'll bet he was!) I'll try to explain as best I can as to how much I loved this tale. As with your Marigold tales, I felt as if I was right there standing beside Merry while he observed the Elven Magick. His thoughts are so eloquently written, detailed, and real. I felt them! To be excluded as he described would indeed be painful, however, his doubts also "smelled" of the darkness--trying to spoil his joy. I, for one, am glad that it didn't. Extremely well done. :-) I wish you would write more stories; they have a Magick quality all their own. Pippinfan

Hullo T! What lovely compliments, thank you so much! This tale actually came into being because suddenly, wide awake and out of the Blue, I found myself in Merry's head while all of this revelry was taking place. I watched everything, tasted everything, felt and experienced everything. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before. And when it was over I just wrote it all down! I wish that would happen to me often! I would definitely write more stories then! Thank you for thinking that they have Magick! Hugs, L

Bodkin · 25 October 2005 · Chapter 1: Making Merry

I just love Merry and Pippin in the middle of an elven feast - and it is so Merry to stand back and doubt the reality - just as it is very Pippin to be right in the middle of it. And Magick with a k is just so much more magical! I am looking forward to more adventures among the elves of Greenwood.

Author's reply

Thank you! I felt as though Merry was actually writing this little glimpse of the feast, I could see and hear everything through him, if that makes any sense. I am glad that Merry and Pippin seemed so *right* to you! Magick with a k is thanks to my beta, Llinos, and I agree that it is more magical indeed! Hopefully Merry and/or Pippin will pop into my head with another highlight from their holiday : )

Dreamflower · 25 October 2005 · Chapter 1: Making Merry

So very glad to see this over here! I have to say once more how I love it--the image of the two hobbits crowned in leaves and dancing among the Elves is just lovely.

Author's reply

Thank you again! They do fit right in don't they?

Grey Wonderer · 24 October 2005 · Chapter 1: Making Merry

Just had to review again over here because that last line was stuck with me since I read it. It must have been so wonderful for Merry to have a moment of complete joy like this one and to feel such powerful 'Magick' within himself. I still love your discriptions of how naturally Pippin fits in with the elves. Lovely!

Author's reply

Thanks! I love that last line too, though I say it as shouldn't, lol. I'm so glad that you do too. Merry very seldom lets his guard down completely and I was so happy that he just let himself go for once : )
