Thoroughly enjoyed this story. I had read it before years ago and decided to re-read some of my favs. I loved this strong Lothiriel. It was great to see her as a great archer and horsewoman. A great match for Éomer. The scene in the stables had me blushing. And I laughed out loud ate Amrothos helped Éomer rid himself of the other suitors with the dragon tooth tale and how he hoped she got one . Hilarious!! Thank you so much for writing enjoyed it last time and this time as well.

Author's reply

How nice to hear that this story is still being read and enjoyed, though I wrote it so many years ago. But I remember that how they got rid of her seven suitors was one of my favourite parts too. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! Lia

I first read this story a few years ago, and I remember how I sat in my living room, and finished the entire thing in one afternoon, unable to stop until I had reached the end. I absolutely love this! Charming, well writren, and humorous. I feel as if you have captured each character so perfectly, and created a beautiful love story filled with passion and great laughs. I always come back to it each year and consider it a favorite read!! Truly, I love this and always will.

I just love this story! I've probably read it a dozen times already. You have an amazing ability with words and a wonderful imagination. Thanks for sharing!

Aiwen · 23 April 2010 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue

I enjoyed this. The humour was my favorite part.

irene · 10 December 2008 · Chapter 24: Dol Amroth

Wonderful story, but alas, this chapter was rightous boring. Best greetings to Rosamund Pilcher. Sorry. (This is really very good story).

Author's reply

Hello Irene, this is my very first story and I know it could do with a rewrite to tighten the pace and fix a few other things. But I'm afraid my writing time is so limited that I prefer to write new stuff rather than revise the old. It's good to hear you enjoyed the rest of it though! Lia

Siorsa · 20 November 2008 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue

I love this story! It's my favorite! Everything about it is just fabulous, and the "manipulation" to get our characters into certain situations is so subtle and has a real feeling of being natural as opposed to contrived - well done! I've always wanted to see something where the "barbarian king" actually gave into his impulses and was a "barbarian." What if he hadn't been willing to wait and had just carted Lothiriel off? Or even arranged things in such a way as to force Imrahil's hand? Hmmmm

Author's reply

Hello Siorsa, what a nice surprise to get a review for this story after all this time! I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed it and that you liked the plot twists. I've never written a story where Eomer carries Lothiriel off - although he's been tempted to a few times. But I don't really see him doing something that could be so potentially damaging to Rohan's relations with Gondor. Although it would most certainly be a fun scenario to write! Hmm, I must think on it some more, maybe a plot bunny will come of this... Thanks for reviewing! Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 31: Promises

I guessed the wrong things about the "usual stakes". I thought it was something either naughty or humiliating. Smiled so wide about how the newlyweds escaped from their guests/tormentors.

Author's reply

Actually, the 'usual stakes' come up in another short story - but I think you've read it since. And how nice for Eomer that Lothiriel now wins tankards of ale for him! Well, once again many thanks for your reviews! It's great to hear that you enjoyed the story so much. Like I said, it was the first one I ever wrote, so it holds a special place in my heart. And I still owe you a few more replies, but I have to be off to bed now. Long day at work tomorrow! Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 30: Will you ride with me?

Like I've said, I enjoy the "traditions" you have thought of for Rohan--I find them so convincing and how much they add to the scenes and the story. The groom's line is so romantic and could sound sexy too (at least to me, especially if it's Eomer who's saying it) It was clever of you to bring back the Wife slayer joke and the bet between Eomer and Legolas here, brought a lot of punch to the dialogue!

Author's reply

It's true it's a very romantic way to come to ask for the woman you love, isn't it. Who could resist Eomer? And I have always been very interested in customs and traditions of former times and love to add them as little details. So many of them have an inner truth, like the sharing of food and drink here. Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 29: Temptation

Liked Lothys' "revenge" on Eomer here and glad to have met the "true" ruler of Meduseld.

Author's reply

Oh yes, she got her revenge, didn't she! And the help of the 'true' ruler of Meduseld will come in useful a little bit later. Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 28: Homecoming

Thanks for including Amrothos and Elphir in the snowball fight! I liked Eomer's opinion of his womenfolk's "allegiance" and couldn't stop reading from here.

Author's reply

Well, I'm not sure Elphir enjoyed his inclusion - but no doubt everybody else did. And I couldn't resist the picture of Eowyn and Lothiriel ganging up on Eomer. Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 27: Meetings

The tent scene was very sexy.

Author's reply

Thanks! I wouldn't mind having Eomer in my tent either ;-) Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 26: Shades of grey

Loved the countless shades of grey scenario you wrote for the Rohirric language. Very funny.

Author's reply

Well, the Eskimo are said to have over a hundred different words for 'snow', so I though the Rohirrim might have the same for grey, since their horses are all that colour. And of course it fits the mood. Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 25: The seventh suitor

Belechtor is probably one of the most memorable names I've read in fanfiction in that I find myself smiling and anticipating fun stuff whenever he is mentioned. I especially enjoyed Amrothos' participation in this and hope to read more about him in your other stories (?). Wonder how Eomer convinced Imrahil to agree to the marriage. Loved the final scene and the way the Rohirrim seal their betrothals, again, wish I was Lothy!

Author's reply

It's true this is where Belecthor made his first appearance. Although I hadn't conceived of his famous treatise yet (that first got mentioned in 'Black Eyes'). And I think this is my favourite chapter of this story, I was chuckling the whole time I wrote it. Especially the dragon bit! Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 24: Dol Amroth

Loved the saucy lines of Lothy here--though they seemed to test Eomer's self-control very sorely. Looking forward to reading how they'll get rid of her other suitors.

Author's reply

This is only the beginning of having his self-control tested ;-) Although the abduction/elopment scenario would have been nice to write, too. Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 22: Swordplay

I must say I like Amrothos the most of all Lothy's brothers and I suspect you do too (I may be wrong). I always have this feeling that I'm in for something very interesting whenever you include him in a chapter. The "Grovel" line was funny and the leading man and the leading lady's proposal scene was exceedingly fair!

Author's reply

Yes, Amrothos is my favourite, too. He usually ends up being a bit of a teaser, though. I suppose that's just my picture of the youngest son, just as Elphir is a bit stiff most of the times. And you saw what a hash Eomer made of grovelling. Good thing he ditched his sister's advice in the end! Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 21: Moonrise

The full moon parallel had me thinking of a theme song for this story. (Oh gosh! I guess it just shows how much hooked I am.) Enjoyed the father-daughter scene of Imrahil and Lothy and the brotherly advice of Aragorn.

Author's reply

A theme song? LOL, you are well and truly hooked!

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 20: Sisterly advice

Loved the wealth of very good and clever lines you wrote for Eowyn here. I especially liked her suggestions to him on what to do, the last one was the funniest of all and I wonder what Lothy's reaction to that will be?

Author's reply

Eowyn's advice is priceless, isn't it. I'm glad he didn't take the second suggestion, though, or the Mark would have been without a king. As for how good at grovelling Eoemer is, well you've seen by now, haven't you! Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 17: Lothiriel has an idea

The parallel with the sirens and Lothy here was very nice indeed. I like how you incorporate legends in your stories as I mentioned in a previous review. That baddie certainly deserved it.

Author's reply

Oh yes, Razmir deserved all he got. And I really like fairytales, also how they differ in different countries, yet have fundamental parallels at the same time. Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 14: Éomer's shirt gets ruined

I liked Faramir's "counting your carrots" line here. And even if I've read different versions of it, Eomer and Lothy's almost kissing scene here transformed into yet another giggling fangirl.

Author's reply

Rereading this, I was thinking I seem to specialize in 'almost kissing scenes'. There seems to be one in nearly all of my stories - and of course also a 'truly kissing scene' ;-) Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 12: Éowyn's plan

Lord Dorlas was very interesting and is worth his weight in gold for the entertainment he provided. If his outfit was "drab", I don't want to see what he thinks of as "dressy".

Author's reply

He's a bit over the top, of course, but since the whole story is not all that serious it was fun to include a character like him. Like you said, he's extremely entertaining. Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 11: An interesting morning for Éowyn

"Eomer in skirts" and his daring admirer's attempt to snare him in marriage had me laughing and Eomer's reaction to the loss of his bed was the cherry on the cream! What a very nice "domestic" change for Eowyn though, and she of all people should have the most empathy for Lothy after all.

Author's reply

Oh yes, Eowyn would know exactly what it's like to be caught in a gilded cage - with the bars wrought of duty and love. And his admirer's attempt to snare him had me giggling while I wrote about it. I would have liked to see Eomer's face! Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 10: Let sleeping warriors lie

It's great how you can squeeze as many jokes and romantic lines and still manage to keep the reader's attention. This chapter is no different from the others in this aspect. Eomer's epithet for himself "wife slayer" had me giggling, also his description of the sea "a lot of water" and how he compares it to woman. This is the first time I've heard of Rohan described as a "sea" and I can appreciate the parallels. The whole scene in the woods gave me "romantic" goosebumps, wish I was Lothy! I always like it when you trap them into a "compromising" situation.

Author's reply

Yes, the 'wife slayer' will of course come up again, it's too good not to reuse it! And I have this picture of the plains of Rohan covered in long grass that moves in the wind like waves across the sea - it comes up again in 'Yours to Command'. But I'm not sure if Lothiriel will consider being jumped by Eomer very romantic! Although the pull between them is definitely there. Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 9: Emyn Arnen

Enjoyed the horse giving tradition you made up for this story, and just about everything else you've thought of, as you've noticed. Eomer's "earned her dinner" and "sympathy for the stags he hunts" were very funny. The dinner scene was most enjoyable as well. I appreciate Eowyn's "intrusion" here (she should be a criminal lawyer if she lived in this century!) poor Eomer was really no match to her! Lothy's subsequent revenge on Eomer had me laughing out loud--in the office! I say serves him right though. :-)

Author's reply

It's true Eowyn would be very good at cross-examination. Her poor brother doesn't stand a chance and also she sees things so much more clearly than he does at this point. And Lothiriel had her revenge, although she got a bit worried at her own success. Like I said before, it's a constant see-saw of power between them. Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 8: The crossroads

The "bag of grain" line was insanely funny, esp. Eomer's "revision", as well as the Rohirric "tyrant" dialogue. Your depiction really brings them to life for me.

Author's reply

I had forgotten about the bag of grain! Sometimes when I write a conversation between my characters, it's almost as if they are real people and I just write down what they tell me (Do I sound strange?). These two were very teasing with each other. Lia

whitewave · 24 June 2008 · Chapter 7: The journey begins

The tension is so palpable, definitely "date movie" material (at least IMHO). I'm enjoying your mumakil jokes very much.

Author's reply

Those words about mumakil will haunt Lothiriel for a long time to come, I think. She'll probably get teased about it for the rest of her life (and love it)! Lia
