· Chapter 17: Desperate Struggles
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh! So many things happening at once! I like the way that you tell the story. It switches back and forth between scenes, very good job. I don't think I could have done that.
OMG! Lindamar! I thought Lindamar was a male elf, because the -mar part sounded like a guy's name, and it sounded like a name that an elf would have adopted. Wow, now all we readers know that she used to be Bartho's love. I wonder what information she told her father about that Bartho had trusted her with. And I hope the next chapter explains that, and why he got arrested. I liked this quote:
He saw Lindamar turn and leave the room, he saw the men coming to arrest him. He saw Lindamar, outside the bars, a sort of bewildered expression in her pretty eyes, but when he tried to meet her gaze, she turned away. Again she turned her back. Again his heart broke.
How romantically tragic; if she told her father the "something" that he had trusted her with, then I don't think she would be bewildered. But then again, it might have been something that she never expected.
And:
It was her who had told her father who he was. He had trusted her.
Does this mean that someone had told Lindamar's father something about him, and Bartho found out that someone told, and then he finally realized that it was his love who betrayed him?
And Arien should have known better. A vase breaking over somebody's head wouldn't be enough to knock them OUT, only knock them DOWN. And especially if the somebody is Vardnauth.
Hooray for the dwarves! And Pippin! They're the real heros.
Well, don't keep me on the roller coaster for long! This time, I'm gonna barf...eek >_<
And I certainly don't know what you see in square dancing.
Goodbye!
Hershey's hugs/kisses,

What? I'm the first reviewer AGAIN! THIRD TIME!!! YAY! I FEEL REALLY SPECIAL NOW! ^_~
Author's reply
*hands Lady Saruman Really Special First Review award* Congratulations!
Well, I must say I'm glad you like our back-and-forth style... It's a product of us both being very visual in the way we dream up things, which has much the same effect as writing a scene for a movie. There's always a worry, though, that that style doesn't work without a screen to watch it on, so I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Ah, yes, Lindamar was a woman! She's a big part of Bartho's back story, but we actually don't cover much more about her in this tale. If you'd like all the details of hers and Bartho's relationship, you can read about it at this link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1522443/13/ The first part of the chapter won't make sense to you, but if you go down to the first page divider you'll find the part where Legolas asks who Lindamar is, and that covers hers and Bartho's history. *grin* Poor guy!
Unfortunately, Arien went to handmaiden school instead of marshal arts. *sighs* Everybody seems to take Villain Unconsciousness a bit for granted, don't they?
Yes, I think Diamond will be happy to hear about this particular event! Or maybe she'll just storm at Pippin for being a reckless husband...
*shrugs* Ah, well. Like I said, dancing isn't for everyone, and like as not: it's just not your cup of tea. I just didn't want you to miss out on any fun you might still be able to have with it!
More chocolate for us? You spoil us truly rotten! Thank you so much for you wonderful review!

· Chapter 16: Palace, Invaded
Ehm... My apologies for yet again reviewing at the very last minute. I'd meant to review earlier today, but I wound up spending most of the day with a stupid grin on my face, oohing and ahhing over every move my little great-nephew made. LOL, you know, I always thought it was rather ridiculous, the way everyone insists that the baby they're related to is absolutely the most adorable one ever born... but it's true! And the fact that he's the only baby in the family certainly doesn't help matters ;-) Heh, but enough with the boring excuses - on with the review!
Oh dear... Now is *not* the greatest time to have a sleep-walking child. It's dangerous enough normally, but at least normally there would be not only family, but a palace full of guards and servants to keep an eye out for her. Now... And Eowyn doesn't even know that there's a reason to be particularly worried! Ack!
You know, I'm really starting to love "your" Eldarion. Clearly still a child, but just starting to show the beginnings of young manhood... He's so sweet, and trying so hard to be brave. I love it! And the little detail of Aragorn having left him a dagger especially stuck out to me. It somehow just seemed so... *right* :-)
*laughs* Oh, methinks Elenwen has been listening to too many stories of her father's younger years... Or, now that I think of it, perhaps not enough, if the thought that "Legolas will protect him" is enough to encourage her *that* easily... *g*
Whew... Now there's a disadvantage - against two fighters at least her equals, if not her betters, Eowyn has to defend not only herself, but also two defenseless children, with virtually no forewarning. I think she carried herself off quite well, even if she wasn't totally successful!
Whoa - an elf! Now somehow I was not expecting *that*! Wow... As illogical as it may be, the idea of a dark elf in post-LOTR ME was something of a shock. I've seen plenty *before* the War of the Ring, but after... Somehow I suppose that, even though I *knew* there were still some orcs, and evil men and such, I didn't think of the possibility of there being evil *elves*. But it *would* make sense - after all, though any other evil creature or person at that time would as likely as not have had some tie to Sauron - and thus have been, if not destroyed, at least quite set back by his defeat - an elf would most likely have *not* been directly tied to Mordor, even if they had a common foe, and thus would probably *not* have been much set back in his goals by Sauron's destruction. Huh... Interesting. That certainly does put a whole new twist on things... I look forward to finding out more about Vardnauth, and his history!
Yeah! Go Bartho! Talk about everything having a purpose! His falling in love with Arien just then was not only a wonderful, sweet side-story, but if he *hadn't* he probably not have been at the palace, would certainly not have known to search out her in particular, and not only she, but also Arwen would probably have been killed before other help could arrive. LOL, and now that I think of it, even the state of his nerves played a part in putting him just where he was needed at the perfect time - had he been less nervous, he might have spoken with her and left before the asassins arrived. And had he been any *more* nervous, he might have arrived just too late to do any good... Good thing he's got such good timing! *g*
*pokes Duurben* And now would be a REALLY good time for you to continue on in your paranoid vein and SEND HELP! *smiles happily as he sends off Anarion* Lovely, for once they seem to have decided to actually listen... *smile turns to sigh* Ah. Of course. Too good to be true. Door's locked. I never thought I'd be saying this, but... WE NEED DWARVES - even more unusual - WE WANT DWARVES! Someone get the dwarves in here!
Yeah, that's right Eldarion! You show 'em! He certainly does take after his father(Hehe, and Elenwen even gets in on the action too!) *g* Heh, unfortunately, he's showing signs of taking after him a bit too much... Eh, yup. He's managed to get hurt... Poor Eldarion. But he certainly did put up a brave show!
Hehe, and in the end, it's Pippin to the rescue! Those hobbits certainly do have a way of turning up and saving the day, just in the nick of time, don't they?
GAH! Bartho! This is not good, not good, not good... Oh poor, poor guy... As if he hasn't suffered enough already, Vardnauth's going to make him re-live his worst moments... DUURBEN! NOW would be a REALLY good time!
Oh, Gilraen... Oh that part's just heart-wrenching. From her dream, to her thoughts about Ada always keeping torches lit, to not understanding what this strange man is talking about or where they're going... Oh... PIPPIN! Hurry up!
Excellent chapter, as always! Looking forward to more!
Imbecamiel
P.S. *laughs* My thanks for the explanation of the reason for Kori's rabbit-clubbing obsession - and yes, it does make perfect sense. *g* Heh, my mind just has a tendency to get struck suddenly by the strangest things, and race off on the oddest rabbit-trails... Er... Pun not intended... :-P
P.P.S. Heh, yeah, it was nice not to leave me in agony, to get even more attached to the guy before breaking the news that Tantur's a villain. But still... Wah! I just knew I'd end up liking at least one of the villains! *sighs*
P.P.P.S. Oh yes, do see the A&E Ivanhoe! It's excellently done - the best I've seen. Heh, and that's saying something, considering I've hunted down every version I've heard of. *g* LOL! Hannah thought Aragorn was grouchy? Hehe, I can certainly see where that could come from, but still... He's one of the few characters I thought was just completely *cool* from the first time I "met" him :-) Hehe, of course, the "dramatic" circumstances might have had something to do with that... *g*
P.P.P.P.S. Ooo, those all sound like *very* interesting story ideas! And ones I'm sure you'd be able to pull off well :-) You know... If you're ever interested in a bit of encouragement/helpful critiquing/ideas in writing, my sister and I have a small writers' forum, that you and/or Hannah would *certainly* be welcome on. We're a fairly small group (11 members, at the moment), mostly Christian, teenage, homeschooled girls (with a few adults and a couple of non-Christians thrown into the mix). Several of us are writing fantasy books, all are LOTR fans, most are writing fanfiction, and we have a lot of fun talking, giving ideas and discussing each others' stories. We call ourselves the "Society for Nerve-Wracked Computer Ghosts", because of our tendency to "haunt" the computer, waiting to see what people think of our work. *g*
P.P.P.P.P.S. LOL! Spock and Legolas comparing ears... *giggles* Hehe, nope no Trek dreams yet, just the more "normally" confused ones. Where Jack Sparrow gets off being on a ship with Thorongil and one of my sister's villains I'll never know... *scratches head*
Author's reply
Babies are never boring! Especially cute ones who are related to us. *grin* As it happens, I am feeling disgustingly sick right now, so (yet again) I too am failing to meet my posting deadline. Come to think on it, I don't think I've posted on schedule since Chapter 2! Golly, that's depressing.
It's a funny thing that Gilraen's sleep-walking was initially intended to be nothing more than an example of how difficult it was to get her to settle down: hyper even in sleep, and all that. It was only during a later brainstorm session that Hannah realized the potential of the little quirk! Although, perhaps I shouldn't say 'potential' in such a gleeful way under the circumstances…*nervous look*
'Our' Eldarion? That is very flattering! I guess the reason it makes sense for Aragorn to leave his son with a knife like that is because Aragorn is the sort to plan ahead for his children. Someday Eldarion will be king in his own right, and long before he is anywhere close he will have proven (to himself, his family, and his people) that he is just as capable of taking the job as his father was.
*laughs* You're right, Elenwen seems to have missed the fact that Legolas attracts trouble as well. Too many stories from her self-deprecating father about his amazing elven friend who saved him from death over and over again, I guess.
*grins* Methinks Eowyn has redefined the term 'baby-sitting'!
*resists the mighty urge to say something she should not* It's a good thing Hannah is here to glare at me when I get the urge to blab later plot points. Suffice it to say we were very pleased by your reaction to Vardnauth, and that you will indeed find out more about Vardnauth's history! Probably more than you ever wanted to know…
Ha! That's an excellent point! Someone should tell him that he dawdles very well — it'd be fun to see his reaction. *grin*
Not a big dwarf fan, eh? Ah, well, we are glad you like this particular batch. Congrats on getting Duurben to listen to you! We are genuinely astounded — he hasn't listened to us since the first day he showed up in Thorongil! Witness: he was meant to be a pointless extra.
Aragorn will manage one good, long, rant about how crazy his flirting-with-death-and-disaster son is before Arwen steps in and tells him which side of the family Eldarion's been getting those traits from.
Methinks Iluvatar got a real kick out of creating hobbits. Dwarves look stolid and grouchy, and they ARE stolid and grouchy. Elves look fair and virtuous, and they ARE fair and virtuous. And hobbits look naive and dozy, and they are… sharp as tacks and exceedingly useful in dangerous situations! Huh.
*pats Imbecamiel comfortingly* Better you like all the characters, including the bad ones, than be one of those bitter, skeptical people who even-handedly dislike everyone!
I completely agree! I remember loving the first time Aragorn appeared! I've always had a bit of a thing for characters who don't look at all welcoming, and turn out to be incredibly good. Good characters who look good are nice enough, but they don't seem quite as real, nor as comforting. I liked Gandalf for the same reason, actually. What was that line of Frodo's I enjoyed so much…? "I think servants of the Enemy would look fairer and feel fouler."
I love the sound of your forum! You didn't leave a link, so I googled your group name and found a link in your sister's bio on FF.net! Isn't the internet fun? Oh, and I signed up so that I can (hopefully) post once I've got more time on my hands. It's pending, so I thought I'd mention it to you so that you'd know who the heck is trying to sign up. *grin*
Thanks for the spectacular review! It has made me feel not-quite-so yucky; a truly amazing feat!

OH MY GOSH!! There are too many cliffhangers in this chapter! My poor little heart cannot take it! Aragorn and Legolas need to come back..No wait a minute. They need to get the cure at Lothlorien, fight the traitor, and then come back!
Each scene (like watching a Peter Jackson movie!) was torture. You two did a wonderful job getting this reader nervous, panicky, jumpy, anxious--you name it--I'm that! The fight scenes were wonderful! My knuckles are white!
I hope Eowyn's baby is ok. Eldarion fought just like his father. He will be proud of him. Elenwen's eyes are brown? Where did she get the brown eyes from? I knew Pippin would be there to save them!
An elf? Vardnauth is an elf?! This is going to be more interesting than I thought. I hope Arien is a quick thinker and help Bartho out.
Poor Gilraen! A sleep walker, huh? (Poor Arwen and Aragorn) Don't worry, Pippin is coming! I know it will be a long time coming, but I cannot wait for Aragorn to come back and retaliate (and I know he will, with a vengeance!) for what has been done to his family and city! The way you two write, it will be a GOOD ONE! But anyway back to the present!
Get the dwarves! I hope they make it on time.
You two outdid yourselves again. I know I've said this before but I think this is my favorite chapter! It will probably not be the the last time I say it! GOOD JOB!

*gives RS some chocolate for resuscitation purposes* Now, now! We can't have you dying of cliffie-attack; we'd miss you too much!
*laughs* We think you're right about Aragorn and Legolas' proper sequence of events! Or at least, we hope you are, cuz we're pretty sure that's what they're planning on doing...
Any comparison to Peter Jackson is flattering, and any advances we have made in making you nervous, panicky, jumpy, or anxious are even MORE flattering! We thank you ever so! *hands over more chocolate*
Golly, we didn't really consider the affect of all this on the baby... Worry not, though! The baby's pretty small, and this little confrontation did it no harm!
Elenwen's eyes? Huh... Well, I guess she got them from her grandmother Gilraen -- that's the only relative we can think of whose eye-color isn't accounted for! Mostly we felt there were too many blue/silver/gray-eyed people wandering around this story. *grin*
Yup, Vardnauth is an elf! Albeit an elf straying rather far from his heritage... More interesting than you thought? How nice! *mischievous smiles*
Gilraen, being based on our siblings, has too much energy to simply sleep in her bed at night. Alas, indeed, for her parents!
We hope the climax suits you! It took a long time to write, I'll tell you that... *snort*
*hugs RS for the umptieth time* Thank you so much for your wonderful review!! We appreciate it more than we can say!

Oh my gosh!! Oh my gosh!! You fantastic masters of torture!
I liked Éowyn very much in her fighting scene, protecting the children at all costs. What a shock for the two little ones, what is Eldarion about to do (with the dagger?). Poor Elenwen, I surely would have sreamed as well.
Oh, Bartho is of course the he say (or night). Not many can stand a chance against an elf.
The situation must be very frustrating for Duurben, will he be too late or just in time, uh oh.
The dwarves? That is a very smart idea, Duurben. If someone is master with doors, than it's the dwarves.
Yes, never underestimate a Dúnadan with a fair amount of elven blood, even if he is only seven years. He has found his courage (and with it his recklessness), but two to one is just not fair.
The scene that met his eyes was one to haunt him for the rest of his life Yes indeed, poor Pippin. I think he has learned a lot over the years of service, has he not?
A second later the man dropped to the floor, Aragorn's dagger sticking from his back. Good throw. I knew the dagger would find good use, on never mentions a dagger and does nothing with it *lol*.
"I'm fi-fine," Eldarion nodded shakily, trying not to look at the two dead men in his room. Of course he is *nodds sarcastically*.
Oh my, Gilraen, we all know how dangerous sleep-walking is. What a horror to wake up and see...?
Oh no, Bartho is about to be confronted with what he wants to keep buried deep. What a horrible tactic.

Us? Masters of torture? *both gals blush* Aw, shucks...
I think 'babysitting' has been forever re-defined for Eowyn... *grin* Stay-tuned for Eldarion's dagger adventures!
Bartho's chances aren't lookin' too good, are they? Elven bad guys are really kind of a pain in that respect.
Yes, we fear we laid it on poor Duurben pretty thick in this story. When folks asked us to please bring him back for the next story, I don't think this is what they had in mind... Still, part of the reason we pick on him is because we know he can stand it!
*looks at Eldarion's odds* Yeek! Well, as you say, Dunadan blood will tell!
Pippin's a long way removed from the hapless and naive hobbit-lad he used to be, alright. He's a lot more fun to write when you can not only laugh over him, you can depend on him.
Very perceptive of you on the dagger!
Now let us return to Bartho and Gilraen and see how they are doing...
Thank you for the excellent review!

Oh, the violence of it all! So much fighting occurring at the same time. Eldarion and Elenwen are lucky to have Eowyn with them, since she is a shieldmaiden and she has been trained in the art of swords. She has an incredible instinct, and that is what enables her to be alert of any danger. But, one WOMAN is no match for TWO MEN. First of all, people consider (and still do) men being the physically stronger one, but these days, not anymore. But probably back then, it may have been different. In this story it was totally different because they were servants of Vardnauth, and of course, we always expect evil people to enhance their warriors¡¦ strength¡Xthat just always reminds me that these ¡§evil dictators¡¨ are cowardly.
Way to go with Arien and Bartho! I think it¡¦s finally love come at last¡K haha LOL/ JK. It¡¦s surprising that Vardnauth wasn¡¦t able to defeat them yet, because he is an elf, and those two are humans. It makes me angry that elves would become evil, because they are of so fair a race, and it just doesn¡¦t seem right for them to be anything except good and noble. Someday, Vardnauth is going to pay¡K if you don¡¦t make the characters make him pay, then I WILL make him pay. Heheh¡Kyou¡¦ll see how¡K ƒº *gasps in shock* OMG, how¡¦d I do that? I just randomly pressed something, and that smiley face thing above just appeared! WICKED¡K
Eldarion was pretty cool, he managed to keep the attackers off his sister and Eowyn. That¡¦s pretty good for a young guy who has just been taught the basics of the sword by his parents. But in the end, the real hero was Pippin. I liked how you made him imitate Gandalf¡¦s exclamation for him: ¡§Fool of a Took!¡¨ Way to go Pippin! (thought I thought I¡¦d never say this because Pippin was a character that I¡¦d never paid much attention to.)
*sigh* In the end, Vardnauth won over Arien and Bartho, and know he¡¦s about to make Bartho remember his worst fears¡K.
And Gilraen¡K I wonder who that person who is about to horrify her is?
OK, I finally found out where I am on the roller coaster. I¡¦m stuck on an ummmmm¡K.ummmmm¡K.hmmmmm¡Kwhat was it again? I just had it in my head 3 seconds ago¡K oh yeah! I am now stuck at a part where your chest has to lean into the shoulder harness and it causes an uncomfortable feeling inside your chest because you can¡¦t breathe, and you want to throw up. So, basically, the coaster is at a descending point but it won¡¦t move albeit the force of gravity is working, and so I am now wheezing and congested because my chest is strained against the shoulder harness and I can¡¦t breathe.
Miscellaneous: do you wanna know what we¡¦re doing in the real history class now? Square dancing. Yuck. At first the first several steps weren¡¦t that bad¡Xthey were things like swinging your partner (that¡¦s when you hook onto the crook of your partner¡¦s elbow and vice versa and then you spin in a circle, then reverse arms), then we have the do-se-do, which is putting your arms on your chest and circling your partner to the right. I forgot to mention ONE important thing: WE ALSO HAVE A CORNER PARTNER. That means that we have TWO partners. Ewwwwwww!!! Ok, and then the third step is that we grip our partner¡¦s right arm, then you walk past him on their left side, then move to the next guy, get his left arm, and walk past him on his right side, and you keep on doing that until you reach your partner. Then there¡¦s the bridge. The ¡§head couple¡¨, which is the couple facing the mountains, makes a bridge by placing the palms of their hands against each other, then the second pair goes under the bridge¡Xgirl, boy, girl, boy, and so on. Now, in each group there are four couples, and the last couple (which happens to be me and some guy) goes under the original bridge and makes a second one next to the first bridge. Then the head couple goes under our bridge and walk to their original spots, then we walk back. Finally, there¡¦s the most horrible thing of all. It¡¦s called something¡Xit starts with a ¡¥p¡¦¡Xand what happens is that a girl has to turn to the right. She raises up her left arm, and her partner takes her hand with his left, and puts his right arm AROUND A GIRL¡¦S WAIST and walks around with her around the circle. That was so disgusting and humiliating!!! Most of all, this was because this was during 1st period, and there were two PE classes, and they all gathered together to watch us dance. Waaahhhhhh!!! So with my partner, I snarled to him ¡§DON¡¦T YOU DARE TOUCH ME!¡¨ and he agreed, but there were actually some guys who actually DID PUT THEIR ARM AROUND A GIRL¡¦S WAIST! *PERVERTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
Ok, sorry if I got you bored there. But I just had to tell somebody or else I¡¦ll explode.
Yay, I¡¦m the first one to review again!!!!!!!!
Pretend today is February 14. *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*
HAPPY VALENTINE¡¦S DAY!!!!!!!
Hershey¡¦s kisses/hugs,
Lady Saruman ^_~
P.S. You really deserve a hug for all your hard work, just as long as you don¡¦t keep me in my latest roller coaster condition. (that chest thingy)

Eowyn has proven herself a fine baby-sitter, alright! *grin* Funny, that job-description never before included sword-fighting, I don't think...
Glad you liked Arien and Bartho! Nothing unites like a common enemy -- maybe in this case they'll go even farther in their partnership... *grin* Don't worry about Vardnauth -- he's not walking out of this story unscathed!
Eldarion won points, did he? That's great! We were hoping that his parentage would explain his brave tendencies adequately, even though he's still quite young. And we are thrilled that you're enjoying Pippin so much!! To be honest, we were more Sam/Frodo fans than Merry/Pippin fans, so we were actually just as surprised at how much fun it was to write Pippin as you were over how fun it was to read about him!
Gilraen's attacker is just an ordinary henchman, but that's more than enough considering she doesn't have her brother's fighting skills...
*hands Lady Saruman a soda and an ice-pack* Hoping this will make the harness more bearable...
Wow! Well, I'm sorry you're not a fan of square-dancing! Lots of people aren't, and it's a bummer when you're given a required class that you don't enjoy. Still, don't give up too soon! We go square-dancing and line-dancing a lot at our community center, and we have a lot of fun with it! It's a little nerve-wracking dancing with a guy you don't know, but once you get over that part (I'm afraid it's pretty much impossible to do the dances without having your waist touched), and once the steps become more familiar and you're less inclined to crash into people (oh, my goodness, we've had some spectacular crashes, let me tell you!), it's really quite a cool activity!
Thanks for the the review and the hug -- they are much appreciated!! *grin*

Blasted Tree! Don't they know to get out of the way of a mad Dwarf?! So much like Gimli's character..mumbling and talking to himself! I hope he remembers while running, "the trick is to breathe"! The scene with the group of dwarves reminds me of a scene in SNOW WHITE--Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work we go! Good for Kori! He knew exactly what he was doing! I think subconsciously He knew what Tantur was all about! Great scene! Hilarious. I was chuckling the whole time.
From comedy to suspense! Oh MY Gosh! Whose going to make it on time to save Arien and Arwen...Pippin? Bartho? Eowyn? Do not kill off Arien.., or Bartho.., or Duurben...oooohhh, or any one! The OC's are like family to me! I love them all! It's finally snowing there, huh? I will throw big giant snowballs at you if any one of my favorite characters are killed off!!! Watch out! Great chapter!
Author's reply
*laughs* I think a lot of that mumbling was drawn directly out of the 'keep breathing' bits! *pictures Nowin, Rorin, and Kori swinging pick-axes and dancing with Snow White* Ha! They do kind of, don't they? And yes, for all his spoilt, selfish flaws, Kori at least knows which guy ought to be konked.
Not Pippin? Bartho? Eowyn? Arien, Bartho, Duurben? ANYONE?? Gosh, that is one tall order... *the two sisters wander away muttering abstractedly to each other* Still and all, we are so happy to get such a warm compliment on our OCs! Aragorn and Legolas we borrow, and try not to screw up -- our OCs are our invention alone. *hugs RS*
Good thing our snow has finally melted, eh? *grin* Sorry for the delays!

· Chapter 15: Dwarves For All Needs
*blinks* What? I click on your new chapter, and the first thing it tells me is that it wants me to confirm that I'm an adult, since this chapter contains "material of a graphic or serious nature". Now, granted, there *are* more dwarves in this chapter than any of the previous ones, but somehow that doesn't quite seem to cover a warning like that... Hmm, maybe it's for mention of violence to poor, defenseless rabbits... The PETA could really get you for that one, you know. *shakes head* Or... No, I don't suppose Vardnauth's kind, polite way of requesting to be allowed to kill the Queen in peace might have had something to do with it... *frowns thoughtfully* Ah well. *shrugs* Lucky for me I am an adult anyways so let's just move on with the review, shall we... *g*
ROTFL! Oh, that is SO Gimli! //"Blasted tree!" he roared again. "What does the elf SEE in them?? 'Stone is cold and lifeless,' he says. Well it's a good sight better than 'alive and trying to kill you'! What's the good of a whole lot of them standing so close together like this anyway… blocking the trail… whose rotten idea was that??"// *giggles madly* Oh, I loved this part! Too funny! *attempts to stop giggling so her brother doesn't ask her what's going on... again...* I can sympathize with poor Gimli to some extent, though. Trees are wonderful while they're alive, but I swear our hardwood floors are out to get me! Evil, evil floors... *scowls*
Aw, poor Aragorn. Yet again, the human has to suffer through things that his elven companion finds nothing more than a minor inconvenience. LOL! You wouldn't expect the weather to stay fine given your "recent" luck, Aragorn?! *whistles* Either this man has taken up elven measurements of time and considers things that have been going on for a hundred years or so "recent", or he remains the world's most incurable optimist, even while in the midst of impersonating Bartho. *shakes head* Either way, quite an interesting achievment. Though it's certainly a good thing for him he's managed to maintain such a cheerful outlook. Otherwise he'd have either become hopelessly traumatized or committed suicide before he reached thirty. *pats grumpy Aragorn* You just keep up that positive attitude! You're gonna need it! *smiles not-so-encouragingly*
He! The dwarves are back! Yay! Alright, so I'm usually not the biggest dwarf fan, but I like these ones, and I'm very happy they both survived :-) But... um... clubbing rabbits? What's with the obsessive clubbing of rabbits? Was the poor kid traumatized by too much rabbit stew? Hmm, if that were the case, I'd think he'd want rabbits *alive*, not dead... Maybe he was badly bitten by a rabbit as a child? Or his brother was, and now he wants revenge? Or maybe it's like the twins, and his mother was tortured by rabbits, and he's been obsessively hunting them down since then? Or maybe a rabbit has a vendetta against his family, so he's trying to kill 'em all in hopes of averting any possible disaster? Or maybe... *blinks* Hey, wait a minute. This still begs the question - how'd he manage to mistake Tantur for a rabbit? I mean, granted dwarves aren't all that observant about nature, but still... Maybe he's being stalked by a really big GIANT rabbit, and he hopes that leaving a trail of dead rabbits behind will warn it off? Y'know, this curiosity is going to drive me crazy. *voices in head whisper: Some might say it already has....* ACK! Now look what you've done to me! You've given me voices! *glares at authoresses*
*sighs* I still can't believe it was *Tantur* who betrayed them... Are you sure he wasn't set up, or... something? *looks hopeful* Man, I've *really* got to learn to stop feeling sorry for and liking villainous-types. *headdesk* I just can't believe Duurben's *nephew* would do that! And he seems so nice... *sniffs*
LOL! Well, I'll bet it's been a while since anyone's referred to Duurben as a "troublesome lout". To his face, at any rate... *g*
Disappearing tools? That does not sound like a good sign. *pats Duurben* If I were you, I wouldn't worry about being too paranoid where Aragorn, Legolas, their friends, their family, their distant relations, or, in fact, any one who willingly has dealings with them are concerned. In fact, if I were you, I'd be getting a whole lot more paranoid. Oh, and by the way while you're keeping an eye on the gate, you might want to look out for those evil villains trying to sneak into the palace. Just a wild guess, but I've a vague idea that they're not up to any good... *g*
Aww, poor, indecisive, nervous Bartho. LOL, y'know, until the last chapter, that was not a description I'd been expecting to make of Bartho of all people. Pessimistic and gloomy, yes. But indecisive and nervous? Funny what falling in love will do, isn't it, particularly in the earliest stages... Lucky for everyone, though, that he was on hand! Always good to have an observant, paranoid ranger with you when dealing with the unexpected :-)
Ah... *sighs in relief as Vardnauth makes an appearence* Yeah, so maybe it's not considered normal behavior to be relieved when the evil villain shows up trying to kill people... But at least I'm not in danger of liking him! Well, I *do* like him, actually, but in the love-to-hate-him kind of way I like cool villains like Darth Vader of Doriflen. So yeah... Good to have him back!
*shudders at Pippin's discovery of dead guards* Ok, so I'm not easily unnerved or grossed out, but finding someone like that, especially someone you knew... I would've totally freaked out. Good thing it's Pippin on guard, not me. *g* Hehe, interesting, one of the few times I think Pippin behaved in a *far* more mature and composed manner than I would have...
ACK! When I said it was good to have him back, I didn't mean he could kill Arien! BARTHO GET IN HERE ALREADY! *gulps* Um, so obviously we're not dealing with an ordinary human here... Cool... *blinks* I mean... Cool AS LONG AS HE DOESN'T KILL ARIEN! *smacks Vardnauth* That was not nice! *sighs and shakes head* These cool villains never can just be villainous, cool, and nice at the same time, can they?
Excellent chapter, as always! Can't wait for more!
Imbecamiel
P.S. LOL, yes indeed, "It is not good for man to be alone" does seem to be appropriate here... *g* Hmm, though I might note here for those who are obsessed with marrying Legolas off that it does say *man*, and though Legolas is indeed male, he is not, in fact, a man. *smacks self* And why is it that every time I look at that last sentence I hear Jack Sparrow's voice? *shakes head* That movie has infected me... And I can't wait to be even more infected! July 7th! *squeals*
P.P.S. Ha! So you like Ivanhoe too? I'd rather guessed you might. *g* You just seem like the kind of people who would... Ah yes, I wasn't terribly impressed with De Bracy in the book either. But since then I've seen the A&E version of Ivanhoe, and it's somewhat influenced my opinions about him... He was *so* sweet in that! LOL, from those movies, I actually remember thinking that, though Ivanhoe was OBVIOUSLY the best, if he were taken, I'd have gladly taken De Bracy. Maybe a bit too easily influenced at times, but so incredibly sweet and chivalrous... He actually reminded me a bit of Faramir :-)
P.P.P.S. LOL! Nope, you're not the only oblivious one by any means. *g* Oh yes, isn't it funny how your feelings about characters can change with a little time and a different perspective? When I first read the books, I could hardly stand Boromir. I thought he was so annoying, and always complaining, and was actually rather happy when I got to the part where he died... Heh, and then of course, I watched the movies. And now I like him. And now I nearly cry when I just listen to the *music* from his death scene, never mind actually watch it... I think it was mostly that scene where he was teaching Merry and Pippin sword fighting that did it. He was just so sweet with them... *sighs* I *would* start to like a character just in time for him to die...
P.P.P.P.S. Oh yes, I am very happy indeed to hear that you're writing things of your own! Am I allowed to ask what you will be writing about, or is that a deep, dark secret? *dies of curiosity*
P.P.P.P.P.S. I've just started reading some Star Trek fanfiction. It remains to be seen what attempting to combine *that* with reading and reviewing your stories is going to do to my dreams. Judging from my current mental state, the results should be... interesting... *wanders off to bed to find out*
Author's reply
*smile* Ah, yes… whence the 'are you an adult?' confirmation? Hannah asked me that too when she went to see if the chapter had gone up, and I just said that I've always appreciated the way this site was so kid-friendly, and I've noticed that people here tend to err on the side of caution when using those warning pages. So I decided to take the better-safe-than-sorry route! On this and future warnings we'll tend to be leaning more towards the 'serious' rather than the 'graphic' side of the warning zone. And no, the dwarves were not in the reasoning! *grin*
See? Even when you chop them into boards and nail them into submission as flooring, trees are still out to get you! Anyway, always thrilled to make you laugh!
I guess the thing that sets Aragorn apart is that he is a human who has hung out with elves for most of his life. Thus he has human complaints, and very normal human problems, but he tends to look at things through the lens of elves, whose attitude is that life just passes on and there's no need to get too worked up about it. A quixotic man, but that's why he's so likeable!
*eyes widen* Wow. I must say, I don't think we put NEARLY that much thought into why Kori likes to club rabbits… It could be any or all of those reasons! We presumed a great deal of it had to do with the fact that Kori is the spoilt young son of a wealthy dwarven lord and that his uncontrolled impulses have led him to speak loudly and inconsiderately, disregard all rules of society, laze about in rampant stupidity, and whack small furry things for the fun of it. Sort of like 'Little Bunny Foo-Foo'… Our mingled thanks (on behalf of the nicer dwarves) and apologies (on behalf of whatever part we may have played in driving you crazy)!
I'm afraid Tantur is indeed the traitor! One thing to keep in mind is that Tantur wasn't raised by Duurben — he was raised mostly by his own mother until she died and Duurben took up the responsibility for his well-being and behavior. Poor Duurben! And look on the bright side: (if we haven't already told you…) originally we were going to let you keep thinking he was a good guy for a whole lot longer! Then you would have been REALLY mad when he turned out to be a villain.
*taps Duurben's other shoulder* Listen to her, Duurben: she's guessing awfully close to the mark here…
New facets of Bartho turning up everywhere! Yes, 'indecisive' and 'nervous' aren't the first words that spring to your lips when presented with Bartho. But I think Hannah was showing glimpses of what Bartho might have been like before the whole fall-out with Lindamar — back in the days when he wrote sappy poetry. He can never go back, of course, but some of that pleasant optimism could make for a nice change! If he ever makes a move…
There's something rather pleasant in being able to loath a character unstintingly! It's much less trouble than the gray-area folk, who insist on doing dreadful things at the same time that they make you feel sorry for them.
*laughs* Yes, typically Pippin acts in a very child-like way — making it easy to forget that he fought at the Black Gate and killed a troll all by himself (albeit getting flattened by it in the process, but hey!). The thought of finding the dead guards seriously creeped me out too… which is probably why Hannah wound up writing that whole scene!
Ooh, a Pirates of the Caribbean fan!!! *waves pirate hat* Our whole family is really looking forward to July! Hannah may get that as part of her birthday activities, since her birthday is on the tenth.
Okay, I guess I'll have to see the A&E Ivanhoe, because I seriously can't imagine liking DeBracy at this point — yet I had the exact same thing happen with book-Boromir and movie-Boromir as you did! Funnily enough, Hannah had some of those same problems with Aragorn until she watched the movies! She thought he was kind of grouchy.
What are we planning on writing about now? Well, I shouldn't like to reveal any of Hannah's plots without her permission, but they're mostly fantasy. Mine (like I said) I have been repressing for the sake of finishing this story first. Once I have the freedom, I'm not sure where I'll start first! I had another Duurben story that I might finish (that's still fan fiction, but I'm the only author), or I had a science fiction story about two boys who become friends after one picks the other's pocket, or I had a futuristic story set in Chicago in which a group of teenagers put out fires. Er, that last is kind of hard to explain, I guess… I'd love to write a fantasy story at some point too — loads of ideas, but no particular one nailed down yet!
So, had any weird dreams off your mixed LOTR and Trekk fan fiction? I've got the greatest mental picture of Spock and Legolas comparing ears…

· Chapter 15: Dwarves For All Needs
Great Chapter, I loved it very much. Something for everyone in there.
The poor dwarf, he seems to be run out of luck, for once he has a means of transport small enough... Braveheart, *lol*. Horses and water, yes. I know a certain horse that has 'issues' with water.
And then he has to fight against killing-trees.
Ah, yes, rain again, that is so typical for April *lol* Ask any of the Dúnedain you please, I have never liked traveling in April; there is nothing that makes a human more despondent than excessive rain, especially when it's falling on you."
I do not like it either, but sometimes one must (horse must go for a walk :). Ah well, I can sympatize with Aragorn, even though it takes no longer than two hours for me. But that is enough with rain that is fallig so heavily like the one in your shower.
Hehe, that young dwarf seems to know perpecty who to hit, even though he is not conscious of it.
I find myself…wary when around him.I knew he would get suspicious
Stealing the tools, so that the gate is not finished when the army comes and they can take the city easily?
Uh oh, Duurben might be right, always trust a man's feelings when he gives them for consideration.
Is Bartho drawn to Arien? I hope he is, I wish it. And right when he is confronted with he question, they come again. Luck that he is where he is.
Ohoh, a divertion, is it? And now it is starting to get really bad.
How did he come in there? What a luck Arwen has Arien, the good and brave soul. It is so mean to work with psychic methods *gr*.

*looks back over chapter* Ha! That's funny... we hadn't really realized what a hodge-podge chapter that was until you said that.
*laughs* Oh good, we're glad to hear it! Having never had much experience with horses, near or far from water, we weren't entirely sure that was a likely phobia for a pony. It's always nice to hear we haven't blown it!
Indeed, poor Gimli gets the short end of the stick in this story. The VERY short end of the stick... *glances at killing-trees* No pun intended.
We decided early on to keep careful track of our days in this story so that we could make sure everyone met up at the right times, and that when they said 'a week ago' it really HAD been a week ago, and so forth. One of the funnier aspects that grew out of that determination was that as the story grew ever longer, the months and seasons slowly changed. It was not in the original plan to have the poor guys walking in the rain, but, well... that part just happened to land in April!
*laughs* It's funny how satisfying Kori's whacking of Tantur suddenly becomes, isn't it?
That's a good guess for the tools! You'll see if you're right or not in a minute...
Bartho doesn't seem to have a clue as to what's going on here yet, but 'drawn' is a pretty good word. Now if he can just DO somthing about it! *grin*

this message is to sarah, though i left my review below:
i think it would be rather nice of you if you introduced Hannah to my site.
gee, it is rather hard to update if you're internet gets shut down by snow. where i live, southern California, there's absolutely NO snow, just cold weather and an extremely hot sun reaching to temperatures of 100 degrees F.
i forgot to say in my review that it's thrilling that Hannah is a Narnia fan. I haven't seen the movie, though i would like to, but i've read all seven books...
bye

I heartily recommend Narnia!! It was fantastic. It's coming out on video and DVD in April, I think...
Sun sounds really nice at this particular moment! The snow has melted, but now it's just plain cold out here. *grin*
I've passed on your request to Hannah, but I don't know if she'll have the time. She's the one with the most demanding job at this point (which is why I'm the one posting the new chapters). Still, you never know!

Yay, I'm the first to review! Wow, that was quite a story. There seems to be danger running everywhere, doesn't it? Well, i can see that Aragorn's previous years of being a ranger has served him well. He can feel a disconcerting feeling around Tantur, though of course he doesn't know why. It was funny when you made Kori knock out Tantur, because that is exactly what a devil like him deserves... maybe it might even knock some sense into him, though judging by what Kori said about knocking him out only slightly won't help much with Tantur's "mental traitor condition", as I like to call it.
...Back at Gondor: that battle was amazingly creepy. Some of Vardnauth's cronies are about to break in? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Poor Duurben. Poor Bartho. Poor Anárion. AND, especially, poor Arien. It's really surprising. How does that thing who tortured her know her name????
I can see that Arien is clearly suffering. She has to see the replayed memories in her head...I guess that in every story they read the bad guys would make them see their worst fears... but I think it was absolutely loving of Arien to defend her queen even when she is offered the choice of life or death.
Please update soon!!!!
Now, let's see where we were on the roller coaster. First, the loop-de-loop, then the corkscrew, so then, there's.... oh never mind! All I know is that this ride won't end until your story ends. LOL
I enjoyed your website too. You see, building a website doesn't take any skill at all. I certainly didn't. I just followed the instructions and Voila!
I'm busy here. See, in history class we have studies on the Oregon trail and we have to make an illustrated diary about it. In english class the same thing is happening, except we have to be one of the Sager family and write a diary. (Do you know about the Sager family?) SO, TWO history lessons in one day!!! I have always hated history and now we have to repeat it!!!! UNBEARABLE! EVIL! ARGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! And don't forget, if you've remembered from my bio that I'm only thirteen, I'm in eighth grade.
Update in three days...see you then!

*hands out First-To-Review prize* Congrats!
Yes, Aragorn's getting an inkling -- but will he cotton on in time...? That is yet to be seen! Until then, it sure is satisfying to see Kori conk the traitor. In our original draft we weren't going to tell anyone who the traitor was until he announced it himself, but then we decided that would be too cruel -- to let the readers go on getting attached to Tantur for most of the story, only to have him turn out to be a bad guy. One of the perks of revealing his duplicity to the readers so early was that the 'Kori-Conking' scene was suddenly a lot more funny!
How does Vardnauth know Arien's name? That is an excellent question! It's all part and parcel with how he can reach into peoples' minds and force them to relive the worst memories of their lives. That's not something an elf can do typically...
Thanks for the encouragement on website building! Considering how much trouble I'm having updating this story on time, though, I probably can't juggle that just at this time. Maybe someday! Sounds as if you too are extremely busy -- that's a whole lot of history all at once. Good luck!
Thanks for the review!

· Chapter 14: Fortunate Meetings
Yay! Bartho is back! Y'know, I've been thinking about him... A guy *that* certain he's never going to get married had just GOT to get married eventually. It's kind of inevitable. Rather like the Bible verse, "He who thinks to save his life will lose it." Yes, yes, I *do* realize that I'm taking it just a *bit* out of context here, and that the implied equation of marriage and death might be considered slightly inappropriate, but still... ANYways, I've been thinking about the list of available women so far in the story. Let's see... We've got Gilraen. Hmm, well, aside from the fact that their personalities don't seem quite compatable, there's the inconvenient fact that she's the king's daughter. Oh yeah, and I think she might be just a bit young for him... *checks name off list* And then there's Elenwen. Well, possibly a slightly more compatable personality... But that does still leave the same problems as with Gilraen. *sighs and checks another name off list* And then we've got Ioreth. Well, I suppose it's always possible... But she's not Numenorian, so I think we've got the opposite problem here - a bit old. 'sides, he doesn't seem to be too fond of healers at the moment. *frowns and checks another name off the list* And then there's Mavranor. Again, a bit old, though she seems to be holding up well enough... But then I suppose the inconvenient fact that she's an evil villainess whose goal in life is to take over Gondor and kill Aragorn just *might* put a bit of a damper on any romantic relationship... *shakes head and checks name off list* And then there's Arien... Now here I think we may have something... *smiles brightly and circles name* We shall see...
LOL! But of course his conclusions aren't good. Who'd have expected anything less of him? //In the back of his mind he methodically considered the risks involved in stealing his weapons back from the healers and slipping out of the city under cover of darkness… It sounded like something his king and Legolas would do; or rather, had done.// It does indeed! Hehe, you know, I really love this guy. *g*
Ah, and speaking of the Lady Arien, here she is! LOL! Sir Rabbit and Lady Mule... Sounds like a perfect match to me. *g* Awwww, he is SO sweet, though! //"*I* would."// And he's so astonished that a woman might show any real interest in him, or even not "wish to forget" him... *huggles poor Bartho* I'm afraid that, despite your best efforts to prove otherwise, you're still just too likable, my dear ranger :-)
He's been hurt so badly, though... He seems like the type who, when once he gives his heart, he gives it fully - without reservation. To have had that just tossed aside by a woman who wasn't worthy of him in the first place... It's so terribly sad. //"Only a rabbit," he said quietly.// *gets tears in eyes* Oh, he's just GOT to have a happy ending!
Oh dear... I can understand so well why Arien would burst into tears just then! Heh, but I must say, I can hardly decide whether I feel more sorry for her, or for poor Bartho here! LOL, for some reason I'm reminded of a part in Ivanhoe, when De Bracy is talking with Rowena after he's captured her. He's all commanding and confident, threatening Ivanhoe unless she agrees to marry him, and it almost looks like he might even succeed... until she starts crying. Then he does everything short of outright panic, pacing back and forth, trying to assure her things aren't quite as bad as all that, desperately attempting to figure out what he's supposed to do now... And then, when he's asked how things went, he says, "By the bones of Thomas a Becket, the Lady Rowena must have heard that I cannot endure the sight of women's tears." And when they're incredulous that a "leader of a Free Company" would be so affected by a few tears, and they say that "a few drops make the torch of love burn all the brighter", he replies, "Gramercy for the few drops of thy sprinkling, but this damsel hath wept enough to extinguish a beacon-light... A water-fiend hath possessed the fair Saxon." LOL, poor De Bracy! And poor Bartho - he actually meant well, and was only being nice, and he still got stuck trying to figure out how to deal with a "water-fiend". *g* All-in-all, I think he dealt with things quite well, though... I've just got to say it again - he's so sweet!
And he finally did tell her his name after all! Yay! Very promising indeed... *g*
Oh, poor, poor Eldarion! Not only does he probably realize the seriousness of the situation far more than his sisters, as the oldest, he must also feel a responsibility now to be strong for them, and not let them see just how bad things are. And then, with his father gone, he's got to deal with being, however unofficially, the "man of the house". The whole situation has just got to be terribly overwhelming for the poor boy... *sniffs*
Good thing Pippin's there to comfort him! //"Sir Pippin?"// Oh ack, now you've got me sitting here laughing with tears in my eyes... *wanders off to find a kleenex*
*wanders back* Ehem. Now where was I... Oh yes, I love Pippin's way of comforting him! He's got just the perfect blend of newfound maturity and experience, and childlikeness to relate to Eldarion, and to keep his spirits up. Hehe, and I love his little recital of just a few of Aragorn's many accomplishments. Though I must say, I was quite wise of him to leave some of his equally astonishing but not quite so encouraging accomplishments *out* of that list: World record cave-destroyer! Most cliffs fallen - or jumped - off of in the Third Age! Ninety-six year straight holder of the "Trouble Magnet of the Year Award"! First human to subscribe to the Imladris "Frequent Patient Rewards" program! Ehm, yeah... As proud as I'm sure Eldarion is of his daddy, those particular achievements might be best kept in the dark for the moment...
ROTFL! He taught Dari the drinking song!//"If it were not Pippin I would say he had gone against orders and been at the bottle already during his watch,"// Oh Pippin! Hehe, the queen is going to have his head indeed. Hardly a song for a prince of Gondor to be singing! *giggles*
Another perfectly lovely chapter! As always, looking forward to more!
Imbecamiel
P.S. Nowhere near the level of obliviousness you were at when you missed Legolas being in FOTR, eh? LOL, actually, I'm not far off... My first time through LOTR, I barely noticed him. I had some vague recollection of there being an elf there, but I somehow missed the whole "tall elf" thing, so I was thinking, "Yeah, so there's elves." *yawns* "Big deal..." Hehe, some good did come out of the generally-terrible cartoon version of LOTR - it whacked me over the head with tall Legolas, made me absolutely fascinated with elves (lol, though not "Caesar Elrond" *g*), and made me decide that Legolas is just as cool as Aragorn!
P.P.S. OH! You're going to start writing original stories! *squeals* You just totally made my day! I've been so sad about the idea of your not writing any more fanfiction, and getting rather depressed with the waste of talent it would be for you two to just stop writing... I'm so happy to hear that you're not quitting *writing*, just fanfiction! You two are SO good at creating wonderful OCs, I'm sure you'll do extremely well at writing your own stories! Do you have anything started or planned yet, or is it still just a vague idea of wanting to write something of your own?
Author's reply
Funny, the inevitability of Bartho's matrimonial fate struck us in much the same way. Sort of a, "Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much." *grin* And the verse certainly runs along an appropriate vein — perhaps if we paraphrased it, "He who thinks to save his heart shall lose it." That works perfect! Or we could dig further back and use, "It is not good for man to be alone!" *laughs* This could get out of hand very easily; perhaps we should move on… :-D
Your checklist is very enlightening! We shall take your pro/con lists under advisement. *grin*
Well, just because we decided Bartho could use a little romance doesn't mean he was just going to go along with it! Stubborn idiot. *grins at sight of Imbecamiel hugging an astonished Bartho* Poor guy — just as he was getting used to being disliked and overlooked, all of a sudden he's got people popping up left and right telling him he's a great guy! Ah, well, he'll adjust.
*sits back and enjoys a good long laugh* Oh, my word! In a handsome return for any entertainment we may have given you, you picked the perfect literary reference! In spite of the circumstances surrounding the scene, I can still remember laughing over that part Ivanhoe! 'A water-fiend hath possessed the fair Saxon!' *laughs some more* I don't think I felt a bit sorry for DeBracy, though… He was kind of a big baby, and Ivanhoe was much the better catch. Anyhow, in this case, Bartho fully deserves all sympathy for the dreadful predicaments we have landed him in! *grin*
Yes, poor Eldarion has landed in the 'man-of-the-house' boots. He's from good stock, though, and he may yet live up to his new role… *grin*
Glad you enjoyed Pippin comforting Eldarion — it was a purposeful juxtaposition with the similar scene of Pippin and Gandalf on the balcony before the battle. Pippin's matured a lot since then. *starts to giggle uncontrollably* Ah, yes, perhaps it is a good thing indeed that Pippin left out those distinctly humorous, but rather frightening titles! Particularly 'Frequent Patient Rewards'… *dissolves into more giggles*
*grins gleefully* Try to picture Arwen's face when Eldarion walks in to breakfast one morning singing that…
*hugs Imbecamiel* You almost missed him too?! Oh, you have made me so happy! It gets a little lonely being the only oblivious one. *grins* Funny how things change as our understanding deepens… I didn't used to like Gandalf much because I thought he was grouchy. Now he's firmly in my top five.
Wow! We're glad you're so pleased about our future writing endeavors! Story ideas? By the boatload! Bunnies everywhere! Hannah's already started about three different ones while I've been editing and posting this, but (BECAUSE I've been editing and posting) I haven't let myself do much with mine yet. I've got several I'm really looking forward to working on when we're finished here!
Thank you for your FANTASTIC review!! Gotta go prep some more to post now and hope the snow doesn't shut down our internet again…

wow, that was an absolutely an amazing chapter!!! i liked it when you made Bartho all frustrated and nervous when Arien cried, because you are describing his inexperience with crying women. well, that SOOOOOOOOOOO what men would do. however, we women know everything. we even know how to comfort a man when he's feeling miserable. oh yeah, i even forgot. sometimes men even make women feel even more miserable than they already are. but luckily, Bartho had the experience from Lindamar, so he knew what to do. and, he is also gentlemanly enough to help poor Arien with her baskets. you see, these days, men are SO ungentlemanly, they don't help you with loads, heavy or light. they don't even open the car door for you nowadays.
the scene with Pippin and Eldarion was quite enchanting. pippin certainly knows how to comfort someone. but in the end, it was quite funny to imagine a hobbit song coming out of eldarion's mouth. LOL
well, this time i'm not stuck dangling from a loop-de-loop. i'm twisted because the mechanism has decided to get stuck at the corkscrew part (you know, the part where it spirals like a corkscrew... crazy. :D ) now i'm stuck here for three days in this twisted odd shape and will only move on when you update. please hurry and get me out of this spirally shape. :)

*laughs* Yes, Bartho has a long ways to go before he's completely comfortable with unpredictable females... In the meantime, it's pretty funny to watch him try. As for the death of gentlemanly behaviour, I suppose it's our own fault -- what with 'Women's Lib' and all, now the poor guy can never be sure that, if he DOES open the door for a woman, she won't get angry and tell him she doesn't want his help. *sigh for by-gone days*
Glad you liked Pip and Dari! *giggls* Yes, Eldarion singing a drinking song is a very unusual mental sound-byte...
*winces* Ouch! Somehow 'twisted into the mechanism' sounds even worse than the 'loop-de-loop'... Sorry we left you there for so long, but we're finally getting some snow here and it's interfering with our satellite. More on the way soon, we hope!
I (Sarah) took a look at your new website, and it was quite impressive! I was particularly interested in the backstory behind your name (which I had been curious about). I signed your guestbook too, since I was already a member at CoE. As for building a site of my own, I'm afraid I lack the skills and the patience. Hannah is the web-genius of our duo; if you'd like to take a look at her portfolio site, I'm sure she'd love to hear what you think! It's at: http://www.engeland.us/imagine/
Thanks for the fabulous review, Rhîwlim! *grin*

Ah, do I smell romance coming our way? I really hope so (for poor Bartho) he has deserved loving attention. Poor Arien, she is overworked. It is just too much to worry aboiut the Queen, sit with her and do other people's work. I think she will want to take her leave for a few weeks.
Pippin teaching Dari a drinking song? Oh my, the lad has not yet reached the legal age for getting drunk. Arwen would have his head (if he were just a little taller and could afford to loose a little height). But as long as it helps...
A fine chapter it was, I was glad to see more of Bartho and I am so sorry for the poor child, the only thing remaining for him is to hope. But in that is no problem, he is closely related to it. *lol*
~Vil
Author's reply
Romance? Oooh, wouldn't that be fun... We shall have to see! Certainly, you are correct: we've given Bartho an awful lot of trouble on that front.
Arien is a do-er -- generally and OVER-do-er, and she's not used to sitting down.
*laughs* Yes, unfortunately for Arwen children are like sponges: they absorb everything, whether it's appropriate for them or not.
*applauds* Excellent word-play, Vil! *grin* Hope is on the way!
And many thanks for a marvelous review!

Oh I think I see a spark there between Bartho and Arien. I think she will melt the iceberg in him. Really cute! Lovely scene with Pippin and Eldarion. Eldarion singing his "Ada's song". It just broke my heart. I can imagine Aragorn holding all of his babies and rocking them to sleep with his song. Of course I just about died laughing at the end of the chapter! I can't wait for Eldarion to sing that to Arwen! You think Arwen will have Pippin's had for this? I THINK SO! Leave it to Pippin to lighten up the mood and make Eldarion feel better! He didn't need Gandalf, he did just fine! I enjoy your writing very much!
Author's reply
A spark? Perhaps! Time will tell...
Aragorn rocking his children to sleep is a beautiful mental picture -- we always liked the scene in the movie where Aragorn is singing beside the campfire after the hobbits are asleep. It seemed likely that he would instill the same love in his son.
On the other hand, Pippin's taste in music is vastly different, and yes, it is likely that Arwen won't be too pleased with this one. Still, it DID work, and you're right about not needing Gandalf. Pippin's grown up a lot!
Thank you for the wonderful review!! Sorry this is a little late (again! this is becoming a mantra for us...), but it's finally snowing here. Pretty, but highly disruptive to our satellite reception! *grin*

· Chapter 13: The Unmasking of a Traitor
NO WAY!!! Tantur is the traitor! The puzzle is fitting together! Give her some time folks, she'll get it! Of course the traitor will follow Aragorn and Legolas so they can lead him to the cure! (She's slow folks, but smart!) Well, I suppose that ARagorn and Legolas won't have to worry that much as Tantur cannot execute orders without fumbling (he couldn't even track them without being known...although tracking Aragorn and Legolas in secret is quite hard). Faramir is right about Aragorn..he is a shrewd man! He and Legolas will figure it out. Poor Duurben. His own nephew! Pippin always brings a smile to my face. The introduction to Gimli even gave me a bigger smile, "..drat the both of them!..." So the soldiers of Gondor are being spread thin. oh no! (bites nails). Are the evil queen's plans working so far? I'm getting nervous!
Author's reply
*grins* We stumped you, did we? The best of all compliments! Yup, 'follow and steal antidote' is indeed Tantur's plan. Certainly he's not the most difficult villain they've ever had to fend off, but, at the same time, they won't be anticipating him... We shall see how it goes!
Yes, poor Duurben... I think Hannah even said as much when we first decided to make his nephew the traitor. We were banking a lot on people assuming that, of course, no relative of Duurben's could be treacherous.
Pippin's that kind of hobbit alright!
*laughs* Gimli was one of our favorite characters to write -- he's just so blunt.
Yup, soldiers are amassing. You may or may not know this, but every story we write we promise ourselves, "No epic battle scenes this time!" They're just a bear to write. And every story... we break our own promise. *sheepish grin*

well, i must say i'm impressed. if you've noticed, this is the first review i've sent throughout the entire story. if you want to know why, it's because i've only started the entire story TODAY. well, like you guys, i've been busy too, except it's not from going to work; it's from school. well, i have a tendency to notice that all authors who write mystery stories always make the suspect happen to be the person that readers would least expect. like in this case. my mind was targeted on someone else, either one of those two imposter sentries, but instead, it turned out to be Tantur. this story is absoulute thrill ride. i'm on a roller coaster, then every time your chapter ends, the machine has a stuck mechanism and i'm stuck dangling from a loop-de-loop. well, i'm on my way to being an author on this website (as soon as i finish submitting my story to the site owner and if she accepts my story). well, i can hardly wait for the next chapter.
i wish you would update every day rather than every three days, but i know, work keeps you from leisurely activities...

Wow, thanks!
Yes, we did notice an unfamiliar face in the reviewers' break room -- *blinks* Just started, eh? Wow. Doubly impressed! Busyness certainly abounds, especially when one has school.
*grins* Yes, I read a lot of mystery stories, and that method seemed to work for them, so we borrowed it. It was kind of funny, actually, since we were banking a lot on Duurben's reputation to keep his nephew from being suspected. You were thinking of the disguised Corsairs, eh? Well, that makes for a more impressive surprise!
*eyes widen at the imagery of Lady Saruman doing the loop-de-loop* That's a marvelous compliment indeed! We shall try and keep you dangling. *grin*
Good luck on getting your author license!

*ponders* Yeah, 'innocent' will probably have to go...
Did we really fool ya? Wow, amazing! The more we read what we'd written, the more we worried that we'd given the whole game away from the start. It's tough to judge when you already know the reality of the situation.
Yup, war is on the way! This is us, angling yet again towards 'epic battle' areas -- something we keep promising ourselves we'll avoid. :-P

· Chapter 12: Within the Mayor's Head and Walls
Well, here I am as promised - *before* midnight! LOL, it seems so strange, writing a review at this time of day... I usually get most of my work done between nine and eleven-thirty at night. Hehe, which *could* explain a few of the things I wind up saying... *g*
*blinks* Tantur?! LOL, I didn't see that one coming... And I really should've, considering I knew he was following them :-P Aww, poor guy, though. All he's trying to do is be *loyal* and keep an eye on his king, and he gets beaten up and accused of treason. Life is indeed *not* fair. As he is sure to continue finding out if he insists on following Aragorn and Legolas around. They're practically living embodiments of the phrase...
Heh, and as Aragorn and Legolas know well, it's NEVER a sign when guards start looking too innocent... It's just awful, though, when these generally honorable men snap and do something that normally they would never consider doing. And then, to top it off, they find out they've done it to an innocent bystander. It's really hard to blame them, though... For all they knew, not only WAS this person a part of the attack on their town, but as likely as not was also responsible for their children's disappearance if not death. Not that it excuses them, certainly, but still... Poor guys.
Corsairs! Of *course*! I suppose it'd be kinda hard to mistake Haradrim for Gondorians, wouldn't it... And it *would* be the pirates, dealing with stealing ships and all. *smacks self* Should've thought of that. Y'know, hindsight isn't very useful, really. All it does is taunt you with what you SHOULD have realized, after it's been made completely obvious :-P
//He handed the keys back to the jailer who was glaring openly at him; apparently no one had ever possessed the nerve to take the man's keys away.// Rotfl! Ehm yeah, those two aren't really overly particular about whose keys they're *supposed* to be when they want to get a friend loose. *g*
Oh dear... And they seem to have picked up yet another eternally "fine" person. LOL, they just seem to attract people who are impossible to hurt... And, (un)fortunately for Tantur, they've had faaaaaar too much personal experience in that area to ever believe him ;-)
LOL! "Did you serve under Thorongil?" Hehe, yeah, you might say that... It's rather like that saying, "YOu can't escape your problems by leaving, because you can never get away from yourself. No matter how far you travel - there you are!"
Oh, that is too funny. Legolas, with all the children arguing over whose bed he wants to sleep in... *breaks down into giggles* And the touch with the twins breaking into song... LOL! Love it! Hehe, and lucky for him, he's got an experienced diplomat with him, who knows well all the best negotiating tactics when dealing with children. *g* I can just picture it: Aragorn, Legolas and Tantur, tough warriors all, sleeping with a pile of toys and dolls. *snickers*
//"The Prince of Mirkwood unwed seems to be a calamity not to be borne by any right-minded female."// *scans summaries of Legolas fanfics and fangirl sites* Um, yup. You got *that* right, Aragorn... “Safe”? Not likely, while there is still a fangirl in existence... Poor Legolas. He's definitely outnumbered. *g*
*giggles* And it appears Aragorn has inadvertently picked up yet another name - "Your- Strider". Hehe, poor guards, it's hard enough just dealing with a king that wanders off on his own the minute you turn your back. They've got to deal with one that's constantly changing his name as well...
Ah, and methinks Valihondo knows and guesses quite a bit more than he lets on. Looks like someone *finally* decided to pay attention to my hints... It's definitely confirmed now - I like him a lot. *g* Seriously, though, how you two manage to keep on creating so many wonderful OCs I'll never know... *shakes head in admiration*
Wonderful chapter! And, as always, looking forward to more!
Imbecamiel
P.S. *blinks* And I cannot seem to think of a post script. *sighs* It is a sad day indeed... *goes into mourning* It would seem the light of day zaps my creativity. Hmm, I may have to re-think this. I suppose I can still do this at midnight, if I do it a day earlier... Hehe, this is sad. I am such a night person...
Author's reply
Yay! Only it seems that whenever YOU are on time, WE are late... Huh. That's really bizarre. Anyway, thrilled as always to get your review!! And we totally sympathize with the night-owl tendencies. Just about all of our story planning takes place after eleven when we're lying in our beds chatting after we've turned off the bedroom light. As our mom said, "Carpe Noctis!" Seize the night!
Tantur was well within the damage path -- 'damage path' being defined as anywhere within a fifty mile radius of Aragorn and Legolas. We're certain he was equally surprised to find himself there as you were. *grin*
I suppose there's a lot of historical commentary in the actions of the guards... I hadn't really thought about it before, but that's been a major factor in a lot of questionable actions -- the wrong thing, but you could see where they were coming from. Anyway, happily Valihondo is pretty savvy about handling such situations; firmness was demanded, but also mercy and understanding.
*wags finger* Okay, no more abusing one of our favorite reviewers -- the Haradrim were a perfectly respectable guess! Especially since they ARE the masterminds here, the corsairs are just the particular tools that they're using. Believe me, you are no where near the level of obliviousness I (Sarah) reached when I completely missed the fact that Legolas was even IN 'Fellowship of the Ring' the first time I read it. I don't just mean 'missed that he joined the Fellowship' but 'missed that he even existed'! So far all hindsight has shown me is that I need to read slower so I don't miss important stuff like that... *sheepish grin*
*laughs* Well, if the jailer ever found out just WHO had taken his keys, he'd probably be less irritated. If not, well, like you said: it's not like Aragorn and Legolas care anyway.
*evil grin* Yes, Volihondo's family is based heavily on our own, and thus the level of chaos, the desire to sleep in any bed that isn't their own, the love of lending, and the snatches of loud song are all extremely accurate. Hey, living in a family of ten kids had to pay off somewhere! *laughs*
To be honest, I think all our 'match-making of Legolas' jokes were really meant to poke fun at all the folk who seem bent on wedding him off ASAP. For the record: we never have, never will, try to make up a gal for our favorite elf. But it's pretty funny thinking of all the people who try, both in and out of Middle Earth. *wink*
*enjoys a good laugh over 'Your-Strider'* Hadn't thought of that... golly, he DOES call him that a lot, doesn't he? Ah, well, it's now tradition.
OCs are our joy and they get a lot of love -- maybe that's why so many keep popping up. It's definitely part of the reason we're moving on from FanFiction. As much as we enjoy writing Aragorn and Legolas, we really would like to write whole stories which are nothing but our own. Glad you like Valihondo so much! He was the sole creation of Hannah, and she was very proud of him. *grin*
No post-script? Ah well, life goes on. To comfort you, we present a new post, complete with apologies for tardiness! Thanks again for the wonderful review!!

Poor Tantur! He must have been taking tracking lessons from Eldarion! Ha..and a glint of recognition in Valihondo's eyes towards Strider. Strider/Aragorn babysitting? What a wonderful scene. I'm sure he felt at home amongst the madness and chaos in the house!. Just like home! Poor Legolas,.."lumps in what?"..VERY FUNNY! Arwen, the matchmaker! Very enjoyable chapter!
Author's reply
Admittedly, he'd have to be awfully good to track Aragorn and Legolas without them knowing, but yes... let's just say that 'tracking' isn't Tantur's strong point.
Yup, Valihondo is pretty darn sharp. *grin*
And Hannah had great fun making Aragorn babysit -- especially with such experience to back him up. Poor Legolas indeed... his confusion is based an expressions we have seen on the faces of many people who have tried to converse with sisters Phoebe (8) or Olivia (6). Mwahaha!

Of course it was Tantur, *lol*. The poor one, but that happens with very angry people around. It is always the innocents.
I loved the scenes with the children, wise Aragorn seems to have learned a lot about children in the past years. Did not somebody say that one's own children are one's best teachers?
For some reason sleeping in other people's bed is always popular and exciting. It feels different and smells different. I remember to have done that a time or two with my parents' bed. Hehe
Sleeping in Gilraen's bed, hu? That would have made for a well...uncomfortable night.

Figures, eh? *grins*
*laughs* Ooh, glad you liked Aragorn and the kids! The quote about learning from one's own children was very apt -- we really liked that idea.
Oh, my word, the 'sleeping somewhere special' is lifted directly from our own siblings! This is the ultimate fun activity: any place that isn't their bed is fair game... the floor, the couch, a tent, a chair, someone else's bed, the trampoline... *grin*
You have to admit: the mental image of Aragorn and Arwen stuffed into a child's bed is awfully funny.

· Chapter 11: What a Ranger-King Does
Well, an explosion may be a good way to end a chapter... but it's an even better way to start one *g*
Hehe, you know, I really should have known better than to re-read your "Thorongil" and Cassia and Sio's "Traitor" at the same time. As I was reading this chapter, I kept thinking, "This reminds me so much of the ending of their other story... Oh right... they didn't writer Traitor, did they..." LOL, you know a writer is doing well when you get them mixed up with Cassia and Sio. *g*
*snickers* Oh yes, Aragorn, I'm SURE you and Legolas won't have ANY trouble getting them to chase you. People have a tendancy to chase you even when you're *not* trying to get them to...
Ha! Take that, oh-stupid-nameless-guard-who-beats-up-little-boys! THAT is what happens when you get on a certain ranger-king's bad side! *eg* That'll teach HIM to pay attention when Aragorn tells him what the king does and doesn't like! He'll never try anything like that again! Ehm, of course, the fact that he's dead now does tend to contribute to that... And I suppose it'll make it more challenging for him to learn anything from this experience too... *sighs* Pity. These villains really ought to learn faster. It might contribute to their longevity if they did. Of course, their learning faster would probably NOT contribute to Aragorn and Legolas' longevity, since it would mean they'd probably learn to just kill the heroes on sight, instead of trying to get information or going for a public execution... Yeah. On second thought, villain peoples, you just keep doing what you're doing. It seems to be working great! *smiles encouragingly*
*pokes Aragorn* Yeah, those moves *would* be familiar. That's because they're NOT Gondorian, they're HARADRIM! Remember them? Hmm? Are you even listening to me? *pokes ranger again* *Aragron glares* Um, heh, right... Why don't I just stop distracting you then, and let you get on with the battle... *smiles innocently and waves* Carry on, carry on... *mutters under breath* Stupid ranger... *blinks* AAH! What am I SAYING?!
Aww, poor kids... Ranger and elf to the rescue! It's so interesting, the new perspective Aragorn has on so many things this time. He certainly cared a *lot* about children before, but now, as a father himself, it gives him a whole new set of feelings. And, where before a fairly localized-appearing disturbance might have just had them thinking "Am I going to be in the middle of this... *again*?", now his thoughts immediately become how this is going to affect his people and his country. Where before their most frequent reaction might be how can they *personally* do something to help, now Aragorn's thoughts go to how he could help as *king*, and ways that actual governments might need to be changed. In some ways, for Aragorn, being a king now, there must be a frustrating feeling of having his hands tied at times, being unable usually to revert to his old ways of going in swinging and just taking the villains down. But in other ways there are entire new realms of opportunities opened up to him to help. Very interesting...
ROTFL! I love Aragorn almost decapitating Legolas. *g* Lucky for them they've got such good reflexes, or I suspect they'd both have been killed several times over the years. Which is kinda an oxymoron, now that I think of it... *looks thoughtful* Ah well, I'm sure they would have found SOME way to manage it. *shrugs*
Hooboy... Talk about nerve-wracking. That's just the time little kids will choose to freeze - when they've absolutely GOT to keep going! Lucky for them they've got the expert Elf-and-Ranger Rescue Team to get them out of whatever situation they get themselves into. *g*
Woohoo! *applauds* Excellent plan, Aragorn! And in typical ranger style, it goes something like this, "These people are going to shoot me! I'm afraid the children are going to fall off of there! I can't let them fall into the river... What should I do? Jump into the river, of course, and bring them with me!" Hehe, lucky ranger, however hair-brained some of his plans may sound, they *do* actually tend to work. LOL, and it wasn't as if they had much choice at the time. *snickers* Still, I can't help thinking... He is soooooooooo lucky Arwen can't see him now.
//"Now Strider, you were not intending to travel down the Anduin and leave me alone with the children and the irate townspeople, were you?" "If such a thought had crossed my mind, your highness, I certainly would not divulge such intentions to you."// LOL! Hehe, I love Aragorn calling him "your highness". *giggles* And I can just picture poor Legolas, abandoned to sort everything out with the townspeople all by himself... Good thing for him his mellon would never be so cruel ;-)
*applauds again* Aragorn, now *that* is a truly incredible feat. He actually managed to escape with only a scratch - literally, not just his definition of a "scratch"! Wow, his luck really is improving! But not too much, I hope... *eg*
//"As if something in the other's appearance had seemed familiar, but he was having trouble deciding why."// *nods vigorously* Yup, yup, something veeeery familiar about him, Valihondo. You've definitely met before. He was probably considerably... cleaner at the time, of course... Oh, and he was likely wearing a crown, as well. *smiles brightly* Need any more hints?
//"Oh, dear." The words came in a sigh and Legolas and Aragorn watched him curiously as he glanced back at them, a rueful expression now decorating his bloody and bruised face. "She made me promise not to injure myself."// HE! Oh, that's just wonderful... Y'know, I'm really starting to like him :-)
*chokes* Oh, I love it! Legolas just can't quite figure out why he can't dismiss a woman's concern the same way he does Aragorn's... Poor, innocent, ignorant, naieve, three thousand year old elf... *shakes head* There is no escape from the mothering instincts, no matter HOW grown up you may be!
Ooo, captured enemy. This is good... This is very good... Hehe...
Looking forward to more!

P.S. Upset about the posting change? On the contrary, not only do I understand *completely* how time-consuming preparing a chapter and replying to reviews can be, but I can also think of several reasons to be quite happy with the change. First of all being that now we get to spread the enjoyment of the story out over an even longer time :-) LOL, and of course, I can always use a little extra time to get a review posted... All-in-all, quite a nice change, as far as I'm concerned! Heh, and now that I've got a little more time, I will at least *try* to make things a little easier for you, and get my reviews in a little earlier than midnight the night before you're posting :-P

In regards to 'Explosions: Beginnings or Endings?' we bow to your expertise as a reader! *grin* Maybe it's the absence of cliffie that does the trick. Alas! That was merely the first of rather a lot of cliffies... We have a habit we cannot seem to break. *checks into local C.M.A. (Cliffie Makers Anonymous)chapter*
Oops! *grins* We never really considered how similar in time-period 'Thorongil' and 'Traitor' are... That WOULD be confusing! High praise indeed!
*falls into giggles* It's amazing how often we lecture villains without considering how handy their various flaws are... In this case we can rest in the satisfaction that these particular villains will never again commit such misdemeanors! Mwahaha! Eat seawater, evil-pirate-men! *notices stares of passersby* Oookay, moving on...
*laughs* Don't worry, Aragorn'll put two and two together eventually; he'll make you proud!
*smiles appreciatively* That is a very perceptive look at Aragorn's new way of looking at the world! We completely agree -- and it was interesting working with that new point of view in this fic. There came a lot of tossing around of Aragorn's character -- bizarre, for us, since we had written all Ranger-era stories before.
Close calls of the Dunadan kind! *grins* Glad we made you laugh! And yes, perhaps Aragorn's tactical skills leave a bit to be desired... but hey, I guess he's not dead yet! *snickers in turn* Ooh, yes. One wonders, will one of the Kopairon villagers visit the palace one day and say to Arwen, "Did your husband ever tell you about the time...?" *evil grin*
I guess there's a kind of irony in Aragorn calling Legolas 'your highness' at this point in the rule of Gondor. *grin* And fear not! He may be improving in the scratch-free area, but records are made to be broken.
*laughs* Hey, now, don't go dropping too many hints! If Volihondo finds out who they are, who knows what'll happen? Perhaps the dirt'll throw him off. *wink* Oh, and we are SO glad you like Valihondo! He sort of leapt from the blue, like Athena from Zeus' head, and we didn't expect him to play such a big role in this story. Sound familiar? *cough*Duurben*cough*
Poor Legolas, indeed! Well, we promised character-torture, and let it not be said that we failed to deliver! *grin* It's for his own good, honest.
Thank you so much for understanding! And in return we assure you that late reviews are still great reviews (ack! that rhymes!) and in return for your attempts, WE will attempt to post earlier on our posting days instead of... well... *glances at clock* ...eight at night... oy.

Sigh! I wish this was on film. How I'd love to see Aragorn and Legolas in action! But you guys did great capturing the moment! Your writing did wonders for my imagination. I saw it all in my head! Hmmm....who is this prisoner? Will Aragorn recognize him? or her? Guess I just have to wait!

But we're thrilled over any measure of proximity we may attain to film quality; 'I could just picture it!' is the highest of all compliments!!
Who is this prisoner...? Well, happily, the answer is waiting just around the corner... *grin*
