Larner · 26 April 2014 · Chapter 63: Five Wizards Went Over the Sea

Again, well done! Lear would have been proud!

Author's reply

*grin* Thank you very much!

Andrea · 26 April 2014 · Chapter 63: Five Wizards Went Over the Sea

A wizard named Radagast the Brown was sometimes thought to be just a clown LOL!!! Well, from his looks (in the movies) one might guess so. But never underestimate Radagast. He had a different task than the others and I'm quite sure he accomplished it.

Author's reply

And in the books Saruman called him a fool and was very disparaging about him. I tend to agree, actually. But the rhyme scheme meant I went with the more conventional view. And even if he stayed in M-e, he may have had his reasons.(I once read a fic--alas, I can recall neither author nor title--in which it turns out that Radagast was Merlin.)

Lindelea · 25 April 2014 · Chapter 63: Five Wizards Went Over the Sea

Did the blue wizards have names somewhere in JRRT's notes? I love the image of Gandalf, basking by the Sea, blowing smoke rings...

Author's reply

Their names are found in Unfinished Tales! Me too!

Antane · 21 January 2014 · Chapter 62: Translator

Have you read Toward the Gleam by T. M. Doran? It came out a 2-3 years ago and is about this very subject - Tolkien finding a copy of the Red Book. It is a hoot! Must read. Highly recommended!! Publication would be life-changing indeed and for more than just him, his readers too if they were open to it. Intriguing that the Three would still have power. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

No, I haven't, but it sounds like fun. I've come across the notion before--but I hope I put a bit of a unique spin on it! I didn't realize that myself until I saw who else was in the room!

Well I got Mrs. Goldenwood and Mr. Pilgrim and I thought maybe Roland Tucker-Hill could have been one of the Hobbits but Mr. Elwin rather threw me! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

LOL!

UTfrog · 9 January 2014 · Chapter 62: Translator

Love it! Yes, I recognized the characters. Great job.

Author's reply

Thanks!

shirebound · 9 January 2014 · Chapter 62: Translator

the leather cover faded and worn, though perhaps at some long ago time it might have been red. I absolutely love this. And you know how much I appreciate the idea that the Three do NOT fade. Ohhh, this is so perfect, my friend!

Author's reply

Thanks! I actually have an idea in mind for more of this universe, but I'm slightly stuck, plus I have to get my WIPs finished first!

elliska · 9 January 2014 · Chapter 62: Translator

Love this! Very well done!

Author's reply

Thank you! :)

elliska · 9 January 2014 · Chapter 60: Fangirls

ROTFL. That was mean to set them on poor Legolas!

Author's reply

I just found this review! I have a feeling Legolas can deal with it, LOL!

Antane · 17 November 2013 · Chapter 61: Cast Away

We don't always know why we do something but there is a reason. It seemed foolish and useless and a waste, but there was a purpose that Pippin cooperated with without knowing fully. Sometimes the best decisions are made without thought or our own will given time to argue why it is stupid. Namariie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Exactly.

Larner · 17 November 2013 · Chapter 61: Cast Away

Absolutely the perfect pair of drabbles, Dreamflower! What was lost was found and given back, having served its purpose well. I rejoice with Pippin!

Author's reply

Thank you! I think Pippin getting his brooch back and what Aragorn says to him at the time is one of my favorite moments in Book III.

Virtuella · 9 October 2013 · Chapter 60: Fangirls

Hahahahahaha! That was so funny. The rhythm of it, and the final line, delivered just perfectly. :D

Author's reply

*grin* Thanks! It was fun to put that scene out there; it's been in my head literally for years (since 2007, in fact) just waiting the right occasion.

Andrea · 5 October 2013 · Chapter 60: Fangirls

LOL!!! That was great! So, there are two possibilities now: either Gimli has scared them for life or they will start to pursue Legolas now. Maybe he likes it ;-)

Author's reply

I think Gimli scared them off. I have a feeling that Legolas already had plenty of "fangirls" to deal with, LOL! (In fact, I'd bet the only surviving member of the Fellowship who did not was probably Gandalf: he'd be far too intimidating all on his own. Though, who knows? *grin* I figure even Gimli may have had a few, though I'd guess most of them might be too wary to approach him...

Larner · 4 October 2013 · Chapter 60: Fangirls

Hehehehehehehe! Love it!

Author's reply

Thanks! *grin*

Virtuella · 26 September 2013 · Chapter 59: The Tart Taste of Summer

And more mouthwatering morsels. ;-) Yes, it is a very hobbit-appropriate gift indeed.

Author's reply

Thanks! They are ever so mouthwatering!

Larner · 24 September 2013 · Chapter 59: The Tart Taste of Summer

What a delightful manner in which to can tomatoes!

Author's reply

It's really perfect for those little cherry tomatoes. Easy, since you don't have to peel them, and since they don't have to be processed. They are delicious, although every time I bite into one my eyes bug out--they are pucker-up-your-mouth tart, but in a very good way!

Virtuella · 18 July 2013 · Chapter 58: Joy Like Swords

What an aptly named ficlet!

Author's reply

Thank you! It is one of my favorite passages in the book, and I felt it worked for this moment.

Antane · 17 July 2013 · Chapter 58: Joy Like Swords

It is always darkest before the dawn as Merry learns and then the light returns and there is such joy - love this and the title. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

That's exactly so! He would not be nearly so exultant if he had not so recently been in such despair. The title, of course, is from the Professor--I thought it a appropriate quote.

Larner · 17 July 2013 · Chapter 58: Joy Like Swords

Oh, yes--the one moment that he perhaps never imagined happening as it did, but truly the one he now recognizes as the one for which he had hoped all along! Yes, the title says it all, even as the Master recognized.

Author's reply

That particular passage is probably my favorite in all of RotK, and it also echoes a similar passage in the famous Fairy Tale essay, when JRRT describes "eucatastrophe". This moment had to have its impact on both of Frodo's cousins as they witnessed it; I'd shown Pippin's reaction before--I thought it was time Merry had his turn.

eiluj · 16 July 2013 · Chapter 57: Fathers by Choice

Interesting that Elrond and Bilbo have that in common. Psst: that would have been 3019 rather than 3018. http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/b/boromir.html

Author's reply

It's definitely something they have in common, that both of them have adopted sons! Yep. I'll try to remember to go fix that typo. Thanks for pointing it out.

UTfrog · 16 July 2013 · Chapter 58: Joy Like Swords

Just lovely! Thank you

Author's reply

You are welcome! And thank YOU! :)

Antane · 21 June 2013 · Chapter 56: A Father's Fears

Ah, poor Paladin - that Pippin was a handful and a half but gotta love him and it is good that they remained close. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Yes, it truly is! Thank you!

Virtuella · 18 June 2013 · Chapter 57: Fathers by Choice

And here is another view of fatherhood, very well observed!

Author's reply

And thank you once again! I'm glad you liked it!

Virtuella · 18 June 2013 · Chapter 56: A Father's Fears

Oh, well done, that is a lovely panorama of a father's feelings.

Author's reply

Thank you! :)

Larner · 17 June 2013 · Chapter 57: Fathers by Choice

Oh, but I LOVE this indeed! Yes, so perfect for Elrond and Bilbo as the children of their hearts each head for their appointed destinies.

Author's reply

I think that this would have definitely given them a special bond.
