I love this! The whole thing made me smile, but especially (for some reason, perhaps the furry one lying not far away) the dog the size of a small pony...
Author's reply
*grin* Billie is one of my favorite OCs.
BTW, do you suppose we will ever learn what happened to *another* dog the size of a pony--or at least the size to hold down a certain Knight of Gondor by lying atop him? *grin*

· Chapter 44: Dream a Little Dream of Me
Beautiful summation of a critical time in their courtship. Well done!
Author's reply
Yes, a courtship between a Baggins and a Took would certainly have its bumpy spots! I'm glad you liked it!

· Chapter 43: Sestina for Pippin
I am so very impressed. You managed to keep within the form and yet told the tale so well.
Author's reply
Sestinas are hard in one way, and yet easy in another; scansion is not as important in a sestina, and rhymes are taken care of by the word-repetition.
I'm glad you thought the tale unfolded well within the form!

· Chapter 42: No Regrets
Ah, and that was the moment when Merry became my favourite of all the hobbits.
Author's reply
It's most definitely among my top-favorite "Merry-moments"! He's so loyal, passionate and gallant!

· Chapter 41: Knowing
Ellie is so perceptive. She's her dad's daughter, but definitely also her mother's. (How *did* Rose know to be expecting Sam's return, anyhow?)
Author's reply
Because Rose was special, of course! *grin* While foresight might be thought "Tookish", I don't think they had an exclusive market on it! ;)

Oh, yes, the light returning just in time to blaze from the jewels their future queen worked into that standard, a forelightening, if you will, of what further is to come!

Namarie, God bless, Antane who has gotten addicted, yes, my precious, quite addicted to Pinterest so giving that up for Lent instead of the usual hobbity fic :)

Hehehe, very funny. I liked the Bilbo one, and the Gollum one was the funniest. :)

These were fun to do! It's not often you can write humor about Gollum!!

· Chapter 42: No Regrets
O excellent! This sums up Merry (who has always been my favourite hobbit, though perhaps not obvious), very well indeed.
Author's reply
I don't know that he's my favorite--I tend to love our lads pretty much equally (all five of them, for I include Bilbo)--but I have to say Merry has been the easiest for me to get to know! His POV comes to me much more quickly than does that of the others!
I'm glad you liked this!

LOL! Nicely done. I love that Pippin bested the guardsman fair and square, and also the other guardsmen's and king's reactions!

Yep. I've had that bunny for a while, but it would never lend itself to anything longer. I had fun writing it out.

· Chapter 47: Teaching a Lesson
Oh, I find myself laughing at the expense of the hapless young Guardsman, who was treated quite properly by a careful young Hobbit who has a far better appreciation of his own skills than did the young Man! Lovely! And I do think Aragorn is likely to be properly hard on the fellow!
Author's reply
Yep. I can imagine that in addition to a stern and eye-opening lecture from his liege-lord, he will be set to some very unpleasant duty for a month or so, and perhaps encouraged to learn a lesson in anger-management as well.
I figure him as someone from an outlying area, young, and who was not able to participate in the ending of the War--now he's set on proving himself and very embarrassed at being "bested" by someone half his size.
