Agape4Gondor · 11 December 2006 · Chapter 54: Deeds of Arms

Excellent way to bring the Ents in... stunning - but hideous as all fall in their path....

Author's reply

Can you imagine what that would have been like on film? Wheeheww.. although.. poor Rohirrim! It was bad enough to see horses and men trampled by Mumakil in RoTK.

Agape4Gondor · 11 December 2006 · Chapter 52: The Fords of the Isen

Oh, the last two paragraphs were so incredibly difficult to read without weeping....

Author's reply

I just found out that I described Théodred's grave wrongly... will have to do that when I give the chapter an overhaul. But I'm glad it moved you like it did. I thought this scene was important to give Éomer closure.

Agape4Gondor · 11 December 2006 · Chapter 51: To War

Powerful speech!

Author's reply

Nevertheless I will still rework it a bit once I'm done with the story (thanks for the idea, Dwim!)

Agape4Gondor · 11 December 2006 · Chapter 45: The Worm's Lair

Again - I don't agree with the Rohirrim thinking ill of Gondor when Boromir, in the Council of Elrond, speaks so highly of them. "Nor is it now, I will swear," said Boromir. "It is a lie that comes from the Enemy. I know the Men of Rohan; true and valiant, our allies, dwelling still in the lands that we gave them long ago."

Author's reply

Like I said below, I think Boromir's and Denethor's view of certain things were altogether different... anyway, since it is my AU, blame everything you don't like on the author (grin).

Agape4Gondor · 11 December 2006 · Chapter 41: Westward

I just do not agree with your concept of the relationship between Gondor and Rohan. Peter Jackson's interpretation was definitely not canon. Otherwise, these have been awesome chapters; I'm just ignoring your jibes at Gondor....

Author's reply

I don't know, it seems to me that the two Kingdoms had lost contact quite a bit for a while (but of course one can argue whose fault it was)... and since my story is a mixture of both movies AND books (AND something else altogether mine thrown in for good measure), I decided in this case to go with the movies. I can't really see John Noble's Denethor having a high opinion of our horselords, sorry. His son (Boromir) is an altogether different affair (as he seems to have some distinctly "Rohirric" character-traits as well), but as we see in their opinion on their remaining "other" family member, they are certainly not always of one mind about everything.

Agape4Gondor · 10 December 2006 · Chapter 35: The Aftermath

Wow - that's about all I can say - your level of tension in ALL your chapters is incredible. I keep waiting for someone to save the day, especially with Eomer and his terrible times, but no one comes... and so I am lulled into thinking the calvary never arrives AND IT DOES.... fooled me! But it was worth every moment of it. Excellent chapters leading up to this battle... excellent.

Author's reply

Thank you very much, I had hoped it would work like that (although while in the middle of writing a battle scene, I sort of lose orientation quite easily). Yes, poor Éomer certainly is going through some very bad days, but at least, he is no longer alone... Glad I succeeded in fooling you... ;-> Best, Katzilla

Agape4Gondor · 9 December 2006 · Chapter 16: Last Chance

If he were a raw piece of steel, this had to be the way it felt while it was bent and hammered into shape above the fire. wow!

Author's reply

I think everyone assaulted by high fever at least once knows that feeling...ugh! Why am I being so mean to the poor man (slaps self) ;->

Agape4Gondor · 9 December 2006 · Chapter 13: The Will to Live

It is a brilliant concept, having conversations between Eomer and Theodred... Your wording is spectacular too - I was most surprised and awed by the fire being a predator to the wood... spectacular.

Author's reply

Hi there, and thank you so much for your eager reviewing; it is MUCH appreciated!! Thank you! :-) I'm glad you find my little Rohirric tale entertaining, even if more often than not I need to bust my brain to come up with those comparisons (and sometimes in vain, too). Best, Katzilla

Agape4Gondor · 9 December 2006 · Chapter 11: Plans in the Dark

The thoughts of Elfhelm's consort about the welcoming of the troops was beautifully written. I could well imagine the scene - joy and despair-filled all within moments. Excellent chapter... I continue to read!

Agape4Gondor · 6 December 2006 · Chapter 10: Evil Schemes

I started this hours ago and now I it is very late and I must be up and off to work in a few hours... Shees! But how could I stop reading. Each chapter has been wonderfully written. But this one - you surprised me! Grima saying he was holding Eomer and Elric - brilliant strategy on his part and poor Eowyn now entrapped. *shivers*

Author's reply

Ah, *2* reviews in one night!! Thank you!! You're spoiling me! ;-> But seriously, I am SO happy to read that the story captures you so much (I suppose you are not, LOL, because I know how hard it can be to get out of bed when you got too little sleep the night before). The (hopefully) really tense chapters are just around the corner, so I hope you will survive these. And Gríma... oh, he is SUCH a delight to write! Here we have at last a villain who is cunning and charismatic (and repulsive at the same time, LOL), and I fear our dear "heroes" will really have to think of something to best him (nothing but a resourceful villain to make your hero truly shine... or die ;->) I hope to hear from you again, and once again: THANKS FOR YOUR REVIEW! Katzilla

Agape4Gondor · 6 December 2006 · Chapter 1: The Hearing

I have been wanting to read this forever, but have not had the opportunity. It's going to take me awhile, but I can tell, from this magnificent first chapter, it will be worth the time!

Author's reply

Hi there, Agape4Gondor, and thank you so much for your comment! I am very happy to read that you enjoy it so far, and hope of course that the rest will deliver as well.

Dreamflower · 1 November 2006 · Chapter 56: The River's Fury

Oh dear! But Eomer will survive, I am sure--and I look forward to seeing him overcome his foul steed!

Author's reply

Hi Dreamflower, sorry it took me so long to reply; RL has my butt firmly in its grasp these weeks. :-P But thanks so much for your comment! I hope you are still with me (and Éomer... and Aragorn... and all the others), as the story is inevitably nearing its showdown now... :-) Best, Katzilla

Dreamflower · 1 November 2006 · Chapter 55: Fire and Water

Ah, I am catching up here where I left off at the MEFAs! And here's an answer to *one* of my pressing questions--Gandalf has finally arrived! Perhaps we will soon learn what happened to the timeline! And I look forward to seeing Merry and Pippin as well. This was a very exciting battle, and a fascinating alternative to the battle at Helm's Deep!

Author's reply

Once again, I can only apologize that it takes me so long these days to say my "Thank you's" for yur comments, but please know that they are VERY MUCH appreciated! That battle didn't go easy not only for the Rohirrim...(wipes brow)

Alison H · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 55: Fire and Water

Yikes! Another cliffy and it looks like Eomer is really done for this time--or will he somehow survive the maelstrom which has engulfed Isengard? The entire battle was extremely well written and the arrival of the Ents was almost as exciting as watching ROTK! I could easily visualise the panic of the orcs and men alike and your Ents seemed more wild than I would have imagined them being.Boy, they were mad!! The arrival of Gandalf was thrilling and his friends really need his help now that the river has been unleashed.Where are Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli in all the torrent and how will Gandalf control the Ents' rage.I'm dying to read more! Sorry that I haven't reviewed more of your wonderful story but I have been following each chapter with much eagerness.I'm really looking forward to the next chapter.Update soon!

Author's reply

Hi Alison, so sorry I couldn't reply earlier to your wonderful comment, but please know that it is MUCH appreciated!!! :o) I'm glad you enjoy my story, even if it is quite dark. And I'M also glad to hear that you enjoyed the fight scenes, as I had a bloody hard time writing them. :-P Yeah, wild ents and elves, whoo-hoo! I don't do 'docile', that's for sure, and if a raging tree attacked, I'd figure the results would be pretty horrific. Unfortunately, the Rohirrim did not manage to get entirely out of their way, and now they've got to deal with the consequences. Thanks so much for your comment, and I hope to hear from you again. Best wishes, Katzilla

calicodisko · 23 August 2006 · Chapter 45: The Worm's Lair

hurry up , eothain..

Lady Bluejay · 18 August 2006 · Chapter 44: The Heirloom of a Great Man

Liked the bit about the armour -original.LBJ

Author's reply

Hi Sidonie, thanks for your comment. I could so well imagine the look on Éomer's face when Erkenbrand gave him the sword and the armour... *sigh* Well, that is what fanfiction is for, right? To create the scenes we would have liked to see in the movie.

Lady Bluejay · 8 August 2006 · Chapter 41: Westward

Very moving and well written. I like the horse bits - have you been talking to Maddy again? BTW I think Aragorn winked - not blinked. LBJ

Author's reply

Whoops... hehe... sorry there. Thanks for catching it! I must apologize that I did not get around to responding to your earlier review, but RL had been pretty hard on me for these past three weeks, which is also why this chapter took so long to post. I'm very happy though to find that you are still with me. And yes, I have been talking to Maddy, but not about Firefoot. That grey demon is entirely my own creation. Éomer sure got his hands full with his horse alone, eh? Looking forward to hearing from you again, katja

Lady Bluejay · 28 July 2006 · Chapter 40: Farewells

Very rousing - I love a bit of bravery and loyalty! LBJ

Lady Bluejay · 13 June 2006 · Chapter 35: The Aftermath

Wacko! The calvary arrived - just like in all the best stories.LBJ

Author's reply

Yes, they are handy, these guys. Let's face it, they needed to appear, because it would have been unrealistic for our brave, but few warriors to best over 40 Uruks all by themselves... and I think there would be a hitman on my tracks now had I followed down a "realistic" ending to this scenario (plus the story would basically be over. Bummer!).

Lady Bluejay · 9 June 2006 · Chapter 34: The Heart of Darkness

Goodness, I can only hope that you haven't completley changed the plot line. You must have got worn out - writing all this action.LBJ

Author's reply

Hi Sidonie, sorry that it took me so long to reply, it was due to a rather frentic bout of RL (of course... what else is new, LOL!). While I agree whole-heartedly that writing such extensive action scenes can some be a real chore (although I like writing action), it really flowed in this chapter. I guess the important thing is to be able to visualize it; otherwise you'll be lost. And by now you know that my willingness to explore the AU has limits, too, LOL! Isn't that just a load of your mind? Thanks for popping in! Katzilla

Lady Bluejay · 5 June 2006 · Chapter 33: The Hour of the Wolves

This was the moment he knew so well: it separated the warrior from the commoner, and the marshal from the simple rider. Where the frightened man would flee or freeze; the warrior came to life. The pounding of his heart thunder in his ears, the rush of blood in his veins so loud that it drowned out all other noises, Éomer felt battle-readiness flood his body like hundreds of times before: it was an unstoppable, hot wave saturating his muscles and preparing them for the challenge ahead, while at the same time his mind was overtaken by a great calm and clarity. Yes, I liked that bit, especially. LBJ

Author's reply

Hi Sidonie, thanks a lot for your comment. Yup, I, too, love to write about the honourable, couragous side of the Rohirrim. It is one of the main reasons for writing this story. I am so put-off by the rather boorish version of Éomer which seems to have taken over fanfic-world that I really want to provide a sort of counterbalance. Yeah, he might be good at warfare, but he's not a killing machine, by Béma's beard!!

LadyBlueJay · 17 May 2006 · Chapter 31: Storm Clouds

You certainly got my heart beating there! I don't know if I can take all this angst.LBJ

Author's reply

I admit I love to use the thumbscrews on my readers, LOL! Still, I am somewhat surprised myself what dark things slumber within my deranged brain. I'm having way too much fun writing that sicko Grima. Perhaps I should get my head examined, you think?

Lady Bluejay · 11 May 2006 · Chapter 29: Confessions

Very romantic and very sad - well done. LBJ

Author's reply

Hi Sidonie, thank you very much for your comment. Well, I thought that I couldn't just go on for 300 pages writing about depressing, violent stuff... a little TLC was definitely called for in this brief moment of respite, I think.

Lady Bluejay · 3 April 2006 · Chapter 23: The Battle for Meduseld

Hey, the wrong lot won! Back to not sleeping! LBJ

Author's reply

LOL, didn't I tell you so? ;->

Lady Bluejay · 27 March 2006 · Chapter 22: Challenged

Oh good. A fight!
