Larner · 10 April 2006 · Chapter 14: Reckoning

This blamed ring certainly works fast at corrupting folks. I'd never expect Sam to use a knife on Broga, myself. And Saruman will dress Frodo as a princeling, will he? Interesting.

Larner · 10 February 2006 · Chapter 13: Stripped

My, it DOES have a hold, doesn't it? Ah, Frodo, you will learn, all too soon.

Larner · 10 February 2006 · Chapter 12: Journey’s End

At least Sam, Aragorn, and Pippin are now on the same quest. And I'm certain Merry has at last begun to redeem himself. That Grimbold is Boromir's man is a surprise, and not a pleasant one, I fear. However, the intrigue continues to grow.

Larner · 24 January 2006 · Chapter 11: Interrogations

I do not get the feeling Scur was cut out for his current position. Too blamed simple and too blamed caring in spite of himself. Hope he helps Frodo and Merry escape, and soon! Good interaction between the other three, also. That Ring--the one object that exists only in our hearts and on paper that we all loathe pretty equally!

thanks for the reviews! I have rather a soft spot for Scur, I'm afraid!

Larner · 14 January 2006 · Chapter 10: Intercept

So: it appears the "breaking" of Frodo is intended to prepare him for domination by the Wraiths--perhaps a different form of the Morgul wound?

Larner · 13 January 2006 · Chapter 9: closer

Ah, Merry and Frodo off in one direction, and Strider facing one of the Nazgul in another, and three men terrified at the thought of a disappointed wizard too likely to take out his anger on them. Lovely predicamate.

Larner · 13 January 2006 · Chapter 8: Guile

Bless Strider and Pippin; and Frodo can begin to dissemble appropriately. Hope for the five of them.

Larner · 13 January 2006 · Chapter 7: Darkness and Light

Regaining Frodo's trust will take a great deal, but good to see Frodo beginning to waken again. And nice to see that Pippin is thinking. Hate to see Sam being taken by the Ring.

Larner · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 6: Forlaeten

It appears redemption and forgiveness come, but to where have two Hobbits disappeared NOW?

Larner · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 5: Will o’ the Whip

I read this last week, but the connection wouldn't support me leaving a review. Nice to see this Merry getting his due, but hate to see him broken to his true self in such a manner. And I agree, Frodo's response is interesting. And am glad to see finally a meeting long overdue as Strider finally meets Pippin and Sam, and reveals where poor Fredegar has gotten off to. Still want to learn HOW he ended up there outside Rivendell.

I read the entire non-slash version of Ring Around the Merry yesterday. It took me just about all day. I guess I'm sort of cruel, but I was really glad to see Merry get a taste of his own medicine. I just hope that the change in him is one that will make him back into the old Merry. And I hope that poor Frodo can return to his old self, too. I'm a little worried about Sam with the ring, though. Thanks for updating so quickly. Will this story be as long as RATM? Oh, also, I am enjoying the quotes from the book and movie that you are throwing in. I find myself wanting to watch the movies and read all the books again to find where the quotes come from!

So glad we were able to entertain you for the entire day! I hope you have time to look at the illustrations on the official web page (see author notes). Thanks for letting us know what you think too. It means the world! hugs! emma

In spite of the graphic nature of this chapter, it is gratifying to see Merry getting his comeupance. Thanks for posting this story here too. Couple of notes - there's a large section in the middle that looks like it's in italics and shouldn't be. You might want to check it. Also, I'd consider editing the prelude. My guess is folks who are reading the story here aren't likely to be interested in the slash version. You also might want to check with Nilmandra how she feels about you linking to it from here. Perhaps cut it to a simple link to your main site? Just suggesting. Hmmm... yes. Angst for breakfast. Yum!

Larner · 27 December 2005 · Chapter 4: The Greenway

Merry deserves it if anyone does, but am glad he wishes to spare Frodo. Although to see his tormenter get what's coming to him may help him waken properly after all.

Author's reply

It does! I am glad this story is getting better! The betas and I really working on giving this part of the story a feeling of movement and learning fromt hings we wanted to improve from part one. And it will even come out with a happy ending! thanks for reviewing.

Larner · 27 December 2005 · Chapter 3: Impact

Poor Strider, not knowing quite what to expect of these two hobbits; and Frodo beginning to realize what's going on and has happened, but still damaged enough to need to hide away for a time.

Larner · 27 December 2005 · Chapter 2: Farewell to Crickhollow

You have done well with your betas, I'll have you know, and the second story is much better because it appears to have a point and isn't relying strictly on Frodo-torture for its draw. Merry is reaping what he's sowed, and is beginning to realize juat what he's done to Frodo. Nice to see the moments of Frodo beginning to return briefly before disappearing again into the secret place where he's learned to hide.

Larner · 22 December 2005 · Chapter 1: Many Partings

Well, that answers the question of what happened to Fatty. Now, how did he get to Rivendell?
