I like the comfortable relationship between these characters. Glorfindel is as comfortable in Arwen's dressing room as he is annoying Erestor as he is checking up on the twins and rangers. I feel for Elrond, and understand the need to want some time to be alone, and not be hovered over. Glorfindel needs the break too, whether he knows it or not, for watching over all of these hurting people is very wearing on the soul. And I am looking forward to seeing what is happening in the ocean.
Author's reply
He just makes himself at home anywhere, doesn't he? I suppose once you lounged in Mandos' Halls a bit anywhere else feels comfy. Both of them need a break, agreed. The sort of break Elrond truly needs Glorfindel would give anything to grant him, but that's far beyond him. Thanks for reading!

A road trip for Glorfindel - a splendid idea. I can see where Elrond would just need to get rid of him to get some peace. As well-intentioned as Glorfindel is, Elrond put it perfectly - he just needs to not have to pretend he's all right for a little while. I love the idea of Glorfindel comfortably ensconed in Arwen's sitting room. wading through dressing strewn across the floor. His exchange with Arwen was so comfortable and mutually respectful - I like the idea that he has instructed her in combat and gives her the means to defend herself. On the other hand, his relationship with Erestor is hysterical! I loved Glorfindel parking his dirty boot on Erestor's carefully polished desk. And what's up with the dying birds and seals? It's so nice to see Cirdan featured in a story, and Bronwe is intriguing. She seems to have some history with Glorfindel. Very captivating story; I'm looking forward to more.

Rooooad trip!! *pushes away images of modern'ish fancies that fill her mind* Erestor's Bane is Glorfindel, yet at the same time, they have a grudging sort of companionship that centers around Imladris and Elrond's family. I doubt either would willingly give it up and yet, they definitely trust the other implicitly (unless it's paperwork, then Erestor knows not to let Glorfindel near it). And what's up with the dying birds and seals? Something Bad. *nodnod* It's so nice to see Cirdan featured in a story I'm a huge fan of the Shipwright. It's nice to promote him whenever possible. Thank you, Meckinock!

This was delightful in its warmth and humor. Elrond and Glorfindel's interaction is so easy and familiar, and Glorfindel is wonderfully crusty. I love his irritation with being the object of hero-worship, and his observation that dying is not all it's cracked up to be.
Author's reply
Thank you for reading! Life is rarely dull with Glorfindel around I suppose, though maybe someday I'll write him as a quiet fellow, content to just lounge about and drink tea and play with Ranger children. ;D

Hey Levade, Really nice story you've got going. So Our Glori has a love life? I think you should send him some one to drive him crazy like he drives Elrond & Erestor mad. (LOL) All your characters have great personalities. Update soon Eliza
Author's reply
Hi Eliza, Thank you! I'm glad you like the story so far. I don't know if Bronwe will drive him as crazy as he does the rest, but it's worth a try. ;) Thanks again for reading!

Nicely done. I like the image of Glorfindel in Arwen's room amid all the feminine finery. And his handling of the twins was gently done. They'll be better off for thinking about Arwen and their grandparents. I wonder what disease is killing the sea creatures. Sweet little boy.
Author's reply
Hopefully the plot will begin to show more in the next part. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Daw!
perelleth · 16 January 2006 · Chapter 2: Wonder as I Wander
oooh! Glorfindel has a romantic interest in the form of a good friend of old, down there in Mithlond! That's great! I must say that I like this pestering Glorfindel a lot, and I can see Erestor easing his departure by ordering his things packed, his horse saddled and making sure that his lord sees him off and grants his a loooong leave. And I like the healer, too. Is she an OC from other stories of yours?
Author's reply
Yep, with the twins and Glorfindel gone they can enjoy some well-deserved rest! Bronwe is an OC from Until We Rise (sounds like a doughy story, huh?) who just carried over. Thank you for the review and for reading!
Bodkin · 16 January 2006 · Chapter 2: Wonder as I Wander
I remember this! Vaguely it is true - but I'm so glad you're taking it up again. I like Bronwe - and so does Glorfindel! Poor Elrond. Celebrian sailed, the twins half-mad with grief, Arwen off to Lothlorien. It's a wonder he survived this time. I look forward to more.
Author's reply
Elrond definitely deserves the healing, rest and recognition I think he receives when he finally sails! I'm sure there were times he held the thought of being reunited with Celebrian to keep him going. Thanks so much, Bodkin!

I like the lightness of these two bantering together... despite the subject underlying their conversation. I´m looking forward to seeing more of Glorfindel "thinking of his life" while he pesters Cirdan in Mithlond...:-)
Author's reply
Yes, he has a lot of thinking to do, and Cirdan is good for putting a person on the spot, so we'll see just how comfortable a visit Glorfindel has. ;) Thank you, Perelleth!
Jay of Lasgalen · 16 January 2006 · Chapter 1: A Little Nudge
Oh, this is great! What a wonderful exchange between Glorfindel and Elrond - and I loved Glorfindel's private musings. The glimpse of the twins was fun - how typical of them to tightrope walking over the falls. It was nice of Elladan to rescue his twin so promptly! ;) More, please. Jay
Author's reply
Thank you, Jay :) I think Elladan would have let Elrohir dangle indefinitely -- nothing like a captive audience! Hope it doesn't disappoint as we go on.
Nilmandra · 15 January 2006 · Chapter 1: A Little Nudge
These two still amuse me with their easy friendship and camaraderie. They know each other so well, and it comes through nicely. I am so glad to see you pursuing this and finishing it. My inner Glorfindel fangirl cheers!
Author's reply
Thank you for taking the task up of beta'ing and listening to me natter on about it! Glorfindel basks in attention, doesn't he? So, don't neglect him too long...*hint, hint*

Ooooo! Very good! I like this. I read the old version a loooong time ago. I'm am enjoying this retelling of the tale. Please do continue. In the meantime, I'll go pop some popcorn and get a glass of tea. I'll be ready for you to continue when you are.
Author's reply
Thanks, Ellie! :) I hope it won't disappoint as we go on. Updates will slow now, but I promise this time it will be complete. Enjoy the popcorn and tea!

Boy. I think I read this before but it was long ago. Still, Bronwe sounds familiar. This is good though, Levade. It's easy reading which means you've got the language just right. I look forward to whatever Glorfindel has in store.
Author's reply
It is old, but hopefully is better for the time I was gone. Thank you for reading, Daw!
