grape · 9 May 2006 · Chapter 64: The Last Ship

It's funny to think the ship stays there another two years in dock, waiting for Sam to be ready. :)

Queen Galadriel · 9 May 2006 · Chapter 64: The Last Ship

Larner's right and I was wrong. Oh well, it makes this chapter more poignant. And I see I made that mistake in Through the Flames as well, but that's no worse than writing movie-verse without realising it (Change, Eru Bless Them). I don't have words to describe this. I've been waiting and waiting for the reunion, and now it's getting near and I feel a sort of sadness--the gentle grief that comes with change, I suppose. And now you've loosed a ficlet idea on me! :) God bless, Galadriel

Larner · 9 May 2006 · Chapter 64: The Last Ship

Strictly speaking this one ought not to be the "last ship" as that will be only when Elrond's sons, Glorfindel, and Celeborn leave Middle Earth; and Tolkien indicated Celeborn would be among the last of all Elves to leave. I go slighly AU in indicating Celeborn had intended to go on the true last ship, but actually decided to go before Arwen's death so as to be with his family when that time came, with Glorfindel chosing to live out Celeborn's intent. But the imagery is right here, and the feeling--the feeling as the end nears that it is time to go and be restored at last, the holes in both hearts being healed finally.

Larner · 9 May 2006 · Chapter 63: The Eleventy-First

Yes, the story will stay on in the Shire. And I see, you, too, felt that Sam helped Merry and Pippin remain within the Shire.

Elanor Silmariën · 8 May 2006 · Chapter 63: The Eleventy-First

Their story will hardly be forgotten! Very sweet that they held a big party for Frodo's eleventy-first birthday. God bless, Ellie

Starfire_Moonlight · 8 May 2006 · Chapter 63: The Eleventy-First

Time slips away before one notices. It seems that Sam knows he'll be going soon, the same with Merry and Pippin. I'm already a bit sad of the thought of Rosie passing, but she'll be waiting for her Sam on the other side.

harrowcat · 8 May 2006 · Chapter 63: The Eleventy-First

A lovely party Antane. But I am already dreading the time when Rosie dies and what it will do to Sam even though he has Frodo to go to.

Queen Galadriel · 8 May 2006 · Chapter 63: The Eleventy-First

Yes, the time is slipping away, and there's something bittersweet about it. I hate to think of dear Rosie dying, but I tell myself she's just going ahead, and she'll be waiting for Sam when he follows her. God bless, Galadriel

Larner · 6 May 2006 · Chapter 62: One Hundred Candles

The end of the time of waiting nears, at least. Sam will find his Master soon enough now, and he already has realized he helps tie Merry and Pippin to the Shire.

Elanor Silmariën · 6 May 2006 · Chapter 62: One Hundred Candles

One hundred! my time has flown! How many more years until Sam gets to finally see his Frodo again? God bless, Ellie

Queen Galadriel · 6 May 2006 · Chapter 62: One Hundred Candles

Beautiful! Oh poor Sam-the time must come, and death is a part of mortal life. But I'm so glad that when Rosie is gone, he will find healing with Frodo and the Elves in the west. God bless, Galadriel

harrowcat · 6 May 2006 · Chapter 61: A Tookish Wedding

This continues apace and beautifully Antane. I am sorry that my own post is having to be less frequent at the moment. RL, both home and work is getting in the way but I am still reading and enjoying every minute.

Hannon le, harrowcat! I am glad you are enjoying still! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Queen Galadriel · 5 May 2006 · Chapter 61: A Tookish Wedding

So, the famous wedding of Goldilocks and Faramir Took has occurred! It *is* wonderful that Frodo can still feel the joy of his loved ones, even so far away. I can’t wait for you to come, my Sam, to tell me everything and I mean everything! I am going to be all ears and I will have plenty of raspberry leaf tea ready for that terrible sore throat you are going to have because I won’t let you stop! Yes, I can see that happening. And it will be ever so good to see the curious Baggins again, with all the questions! :) God bless, Galadriel

Elanor Silmariën · 4 May 2006 · Chapter 60: A Visit From A Friend

Oh this is so sweet! Definately something Elvish about Frodo... God bless, Ellie

Queen Galadriel · 4 May 2006 · Chapter 60: A Visit From A Friend

Oh, how wonderful that that glimpse should be given him, to renew his will during a time when he was weakest, just as he often helped to renew Frodo's will during that dark journey. Beautiful, Antane! God bless, Galadriel

Larner · 3 May 2006 · Chapter 59: Holfast

The mutual seeking to reassure is wonderful, Antane. Sorry I haven't reviewed more, but until today I could read but not respond for a while. Hopefully that is now fixed. Hate computer problems!

Hannon le, Larner! I am glad you are continuing to enjoy! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Queen Galadriel · 3 May 2006 · Chapter 59: Holfast

The babe’s name is Holfast. He is beautiful, with large, round eyes and a small tuft of sandy brown hair already on his head and the softest down on his feet. Aww, so cute! :) I still don’t believe I did anything more than what I set out to do, but though I can win arguments with you, dear, I never can with her. She believes what she believes and I don’t even want to argue with all that love I see in her eyes for me, for her son and now her grandson. Just precious! I can so see Sam and Rose having a friendly argument, then Sam looking into her eyes and letting her win. :) So to that end, I continue my daily, selfish begging to Iluvatar that I will see you one day on these shores, that you will come to the home that is just waiting for you and you will come to know our Creator as well. Now come, Frodo. Even when I try to see it through your eyes I can't think you selfish for wishing that. I would want that too. “Eru delights in giving His children gifts,” he said. “And since Sam is one of His greatest to you, don’t doubt that He will rejoin the two halves of the soul that you and Sam have long shared." That is my favourite line-there is such truth and sweetness and beauty in it! Oh, I do hope they get back together soon! I'm afraid now that I'll have to wait until August to see it, but I hope not. God bless, Galadriel

Elanor Silmariën · 2 May 2006 · Chapter 58: Another Flower in the Family

Yay! Another wedding! I love weddings! it makes me SO happy to read the last few chapters and seeing how happy everyone is! I keep forgetting all that happened in the last two stories, because it seems as though everything has been reversed. I love it! God bless, Ellie

Larner · 1 May 2006 · Chapter 49: Olorin

Bless Olorin; although I think Frodo had more than just an inkling of what he truly was. Glad he's sharing tales of the dwarves with Frodo so they can be shared beyond Frodo as well.

Larner · 1 May 2006 · Chapter 58: Another Flower in the Family

Ah, the love the two of them hold for one another, and so glad that Frodo-lad has found his love at last.

Author's reply

Hannon le for your review, Larner! If I may use this space to respond to your reply of my review of the author notes of Reconciliation on why I don't think Frodo's a saint. He has much of the right 'criteria' for want of a better word as you so ably point out, but to me, it would seem that one would have to know the One they are serving who Frodo didn't, at least not anywhere fully, though I hope he did find out in the West. It is an interesting thought though and I realize, still being a newbie to this marvelous world, that I have much to learn. Maybe I'll be convinced yet! :) Namarie, God bless, Antane

Queen Galadriel · 1 May 2006 · Chapter 58: Another Flower in the Family

Oops, forgot to tell you, I *love* this line! I know I am getting older day by day, but I am feeling younger too all the time. I am an adult, but I have the energy and innocence and joy of a child. I have passed through the deepest, blackest night and come into the sunshine, filled with light and the darkness has no purchase in me, barely even in my memories. Oh, he deserves it, every bit! I'm so glad! God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

You inspired that part, my dear, with your comments about the innocence reclaimed by Frodo here. I thought I would pay tribute to that. :) To answer your question about e-mails, the last I got from you was Wednesday, which I replied to on Saturday (sorry it was so late) and I just sent you another one tonight. Hope you got them. Do tell if you haven't! Namarie, God bless, Im mil le, Antane :)

Queen Galadriel · 1 May 2006 · Chapter 58: Another Flower in the Family

Oh, Antane, what a sweet, beautiful, simply wonderful chapter! We really must think alike, because to me Frodo-lad's wife has always been Daisy. I don't know why, it's just one of those things at the back of my mind. These two are obviously overflowing with joy, and I can't wait for them to get back together! If Frodo still tries to argue his point I'll be thoroughly amazed, though I'm sure I shouldn't be, knowing the dear, dear, stubborn Bagginses. :) I have to wonder each time you update how much sweeter this can get, when each is more delightful than the one before. Keep it up! God bless, Galadriel P.S. Have you been getting my e-mails? My computer is flaunting its quirky side lately and generally being annoying, and my e-mail is acting up, so I wondered...

Starfire_Moonlight · 1 May 2006 · Chapter 58: Another Flower in the Family

Awww! Frodo-lad got married! I never heard of him getting married, but it's still wonderful. I'm still here, do don't worry! I haven't gone anywhere and have been keeping up with all the chapters, just haven't been a good reviewer. ;) Wonderful, each and every one of them! :D

Author's reply

I was wondering what happened to you! Good to know you are still enjoying. Yes, the family tree of Sam lists a child and grandchild of Frodo-lad's but curiously no spouse, but I figure they had to be one so viola! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

grape · 1 May 2006 · Chapter 57: Moving Away

Welcome back after your long break! Just to let you know, you have two chapters that are numbered 56. :)

Author's reply

Fixed, hannon le! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

harrowcat · 1 May 2006 · Chapter 58: Another Flower in the Family

Welcome back and happy Easter Antane. I am sorry that I haven't caought up before but I am still reading and really enjoying the close bond between these two, and of course Gandalf as well!

Author's reply

Welcome back yourself, my dear! I am glad you are still enjoying. Christ is Risen! He is truly Risen! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
