This tale proves its worth, as I sincerely do love Finrod. And Gildor--there isn't enough about it, so I am enjoying this. ~Calenlass

Encaitariel, I see you have not updated in a looonnnggg time. I do hope though that you begin again. I have read all the chapters though and just thought to put my review on the last chapter that you have added to your fabulous and special story! I do love how you have written a so far wonderful story on your theory on how Gildor got the name Inglorien. What a great and clever way to find the way on how he became a member of the HOuse of Finrod. I also like your use of elvish (Sindarin in particular) here for the story! The way you portray the Laiquendi is very different from what I usually see, but yours is better because they(in Laiquendi) most likely wanted peace with the Noldor...not war and enmity... Well, I do hope you update soon! I have had a great pleasure reading this! Namarie!

This is so sad. You have captured the sorrow and desolation of the crossing of the ice quite well in this chapter as well as the fading of this broken-hearted elf. So very sad. The line at the end about Finrod regreting what might have been with Amarie was very powerful, too.

I really like this chapter for how you handled Calion's adventures in camp. His pride was so befitting; his manners and curiosity appropriate. Lindan sounds like just the sort of friend that will lead him into both fund and trouble, yay! The children acted like children, thank goodness. The hymn-singing was absolutely great! And the explanation, too. ;) I for one appreciate this sort of information. I also like your bringing to notice the loss of a generation among the Laegrim. Having Laigongo and his dad at Tol Sirion should be very interesting.

I am glad you liked my children! ; ) It is the one thing I struggled with the most in these chapters. Fun and trouble, yes. Tol Sirion (or Nargothrond) will not lack for entertainment! Thanks for the review!

I have to admit, I got confused about which was chapter 3 and which was 4. They felt out of sequence. However, this look at Noldor politics was fascinating. The family gathering almost had more pageantry then the official ceremonies. ;) Liked the vision - can't wait to see it come true. LOL! Go! My next fic will also have an ancient game being played. ;D But, I know I will not be explaining what it is all about. Too many author's notes as it is...

again the details are pure candy. As well as the footnotes. I am very interested to see where you will take this. Delightfully long way to go. Fully involved now

Thanks for reviewing, Inglor! And I am honored by your high praise. I have things outlined, and bits and pieces written, for a long and bumpy ride. We'll see how I can pull it all together. Hope I can keep you with me. ; )

I am ashamed I don't have the Quenya names in my head and this is a wonderful way of learning. I liked how you have introduced Cirdan, maybe it's fanon but it is definitely how I have imagined him. Absolutely stunning attention to detail, and perfectly proportioned. Thoroughly hooked now.

I had to like this chapter! Now, we are getting into Gildor's story and there are Lindi! Yay! His fascination with the wild Laiquendi was cute. However, his meeting Cirdan was most entertaining. Heh, he runs around like a wild little indian himself. ;) Of course, I enjoyed the history lessons - sketchy as they were. But, what can you expect from a Golodhrim. ;)

This was a sad episode. Like his friend, I hated to see Veryangole expire like that. Finrod had occasions of foresight. There is no reason why he should not know he will see Varyangole again or that they will meet in Mandos itself, which he does know about. Hmm, where is Aredhel in all this? With Fingon and Fingolfin?
Author's reply
This chapter is probably the saddest thing that I have ever written; with the possible exception of one chapter to come much later. The way I understand the idea of foresight is that it is not usually all that specific. Finrod knows he will be with his friend again, but the circumstances are unclear. Yes, Aredhel is around. She will appear in the next chapter, but the House of Fingolfin does not have a large part in this story.

Nice beginning. You create the image of a close family and friends. The names are not such a problem once you get use to them. ;)
