The description in this one was very evocative. Nice job on that. And I think you've captured Aragorn quite well.
Author's reply
Thank you very much.

What a nice moment, Northern Dunedain Ranger and Southern Dunedain Ranger. They do understand one another.
Author's reply
Yea, I always thought the two were very, very similar. I think they would have gotten along very well.
Larner · 13 May 2006 · Chapter 7: Alone: Alone in Death (A. only)
At least we know that at last he succeeded.
Author's reply
True; one can only imagine the consequences if he did not.
meckinock · 11 May 2006 · Chapter 6: Outdoors: Old Habits Die Hard (A. + Faramir)
These guys need to go on a fishing trip. I like the look at Aragorn's office.
Author's reply
They go on an ill-fated hunting trip in a story I wrote but only have published on one website *whistles* But a fishing trip sounds nice. I like fish.
RS · 11 May 2006 · Chapter 6: Outdoors: Old Habits Die Hard (A. + Faramir)
Ha, a messy office. Why wouldn't it be? A rugged office for a rugged Ranger! A total contrast from Faramir's father. Denethor's office, a neat spotless place for an uptight person; Aragorn office, a relaxed, lived-in office for a cool, casual person! Two rangers missing the same thing. Maybe they can play hooky from their duties to step outside and enjoy the fresh clear air! Very delightful story! I enjoyed this very much.
Author's reply
LOL, I like your train of thought! One can imagine Aragorn just tossing papers somewhere random when he didn't need them. He probably needed a very good secretary. Oh, how I would give to read that! I did write a month or two ago about the two going hunting, but... not exactly the same thing. Anyways, thanks for the review!
shirebound · 11 May 2006 · Chapter 6: Outdoors: Old Habits Die Hard (A. + Faramir)
Faramir sees that, at heart, he and the king are much alike. Nice!
Author's reply
Thank you ^^ I love comparing the two; they are so much alike.
harrowcat · 11 May 2006 · Chapter 6: Outdoors: Old Habits Die Hard (A. + Faramir)
This is great! BUT We need another chapter to this of the pair of them escaping or trying to escape the city. Perhaps they go separately but pick the same route and meet by chance. Or perhaps Faramir needs to show Aragorn the back routes out of the city. You could call it 'like calls to like!' :-)
Author's reply
I am currently writing a story in which Aragorn goes for a stroll around the place with the aid of Faramir, but I have not yet thought of both of them doing some super-spy escape. That would be so funny. I'd love to read (perhaps write) something like that.
Larner · 10 May 2006 · Chapter 5: Lack: The Days are Short (A. only)
And he found indeed the day had come, and so he must indeed seek those dread paths.
Larner · 10 May 2006 · Chapter 6: Outdoors: Old Habits Die Hard (A. + Faramir)
Oh, this is MY King Aragorn Elessar. (I claimed him first, I bet, in 1963, at Junior High, at High School, at College, at Grad School, on several hundred blackboards and in classrooms all over the place, in chalk, pen, and braille--long before the Internet! I'll share, though....)
Author's reply
Oh, that's not fair. My father was 3 back in 1963! I do have much claimage, however, on many sites on the internet. And he helps as a muse, though he tends to dislike me quite a bit. Haven't the slightest idea why.
daw the minstrel · 7 May 2006 · Chapter 5: Lack: The Days are Short (A. only)
This draws together some interesting threads from several places. Aragorn had to be hesitant to take that road. I can't imagine anyone jumping up and down to do it, prophecy or no prophecy. And all this fateful stuff was coming at him at once. If I were him, I'd want time to think about it! Nice job.
Author's reply
Poor guy only had a few hours to think about it at that, too. I'd take at least a week. Thanks ^^
meckinock · 7 May 2006 · Chapter 5: Lack: The Days are Short (A. only)
I like the dread and avoidance here - he didn't just get the message and whip out his Rand McNally Road Atlas of Middle Earth, 3016 edition, large print, and go, "Paths of the Dead...Paths of the...should be exit 158, right after Dunharrow...aha! There it is. Well, let's get moving, then!" Of course you you realize that you've just obligated yourself to do the Palantir scene.
Author's reply
It would have been much easier for the Fellowship if they had a nice, detailed map. Personally I like Karen Foster's edition; very detailed. XD And I have done a palantir scene. It's #9, and will be up publically very soon. Happy? ;P
Larner · 4 May 2006 · Chapter 4: Broken: Fallen (A. + Halbarad)
Yes, the sacrifices were well made in the end; yet costly and painful nonetheless. BTW, I'll warn you that I, too, have a claim on our favorite Ranger-King. Now, I have to decide if I'll share with YOU! Heh!
Author's reply
Just like in all wars, victory comes with such a high and painful cost. I have claimed him (and some of his aliases) on three separate sites. I win ;)
Larner · 4 May 2006 · Chapter 3: Riddles: Riddling Games and Riddling Wizards (A. + Gandalf)
I've read another similar tale elsewhere, but it's always fascinating to consider just how Gandalf would have made this request. And how much did Aragorn guess even then, we wonders, doesn't we?
Larner · 4 May 2006 · Chapter 2: Rain: Anywhere But Here (A. + OC)
In a miserable rain, all minds tend to think similarly.
Larner · 4 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Lost: The Quest (A. + Imrahil + OC)
Yes, I'm certain he would indeed hear giggling behind them. Daughters will get their way with the men in their lives, after all.

Halbarad! *sobs*
Author's reply
*sobs with you*
Bodkin · 29 April 2006 · Chapter 4: Broken: Fallen (A. + Halbarad)
Poor Halbarad. Aragorn must have been numbed at this point. So much happening, so much still to do - and no time to stop and consider individuals. But I'm sure that, later, having done what he could for his kinsman's body will be a comfort to him.
Author's reply
I could only imagine how Aragorn, and every other survivor felt after the battle. There were too many to treat every single individual body as they normally would. I would certainly imagine it numbed them.
shirebound · 28 April 2006 · Chapter 4: Broken: Fallen (A. + Halbarad)
Ohhh, how heartbreaking... and yet how valiant and strong and noble. We learn so little about Halbarad from the books, and yet as authors we can bring him to life and learn about him, and about all those who loved Aragorn and Middle-earth, and fought with all they had.
Author's reply
*nod* That is one thing I absolutely love with fan fiction. Tolkien left us so many plot holes to fill in, and he just gave us so many things to work with. It's absolutely great.
meckinock · 28 April 2006 · Chapter 4: Broken: Fallen (A. + Halbarad)
Oh, ow. A fine tribute to a fine soldier.
Author's reply
Thank you. It was painful to write; I love Halbarad.
meckinock · 25 April 2006 · Chapter 3: Riddles: Riddling Games and Riddling Wizards (A. + Gandalf)
A lot of years went into developing the level of trust that allows Gandalf to make requests like that! What makes me think Aragorn was a cakewalk compared to what Halbarad is going to say...
Author's reply
Oh, I can only imagine Halbarad's response. Speaking of Halbarad, I really cannot wait for the next chapter in your story. ;P
meckinock · 25 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Rain: Anywhere But Here (A. + OC)
Of course this young Ranger thinks he's the only one who hates the rain - his Chieftain just stands out in it for the fun! So it must be...and it was sweet of said Chieftain to offer him a dry spot to rest.
Author's reply
You know how young people are; the whole world is against them ;) Thanks for the review :)
Bodkin · 24 April 2006 · Chapter 3: Riddles: Riddling Games and Riddling Wizards (A. + Gandalf)
Poor Aragorn. Gandalf might be a mighty wizard, but at times Aragorn must have felt as if he was serving a dozen different masters, while at the same time pretending to be the chieftain of the Dunedain. Still. It all worked out in the end.
Author's reply
Oh, most certainly, with Gandalf, Elrond, and many others just bossing him around ;) And it definitely worked out in the end, seeing as he turned out to be king of half of Middle-earth, or so it seems at times. But anyways, thank you for the review!
Gandalfs apprentice · 23 April 2006 · Chapter 3: Riddles: Riddling Games and Riddling Wizards (A. + Gandalf)
Nice gap-filler--just the kind of meeting I see Gandalf and Aragorn having many times. My only quibble: I think that Gandalf told Aragorn all his fears from the very beginning. He would want Aragorn's full attention and all his insight and ability on this one.... G.A.
Author's reply
*nod* I understand your thoughts; I think for most cases, Gandalf would be like that. But at this point of time he's really not quite sure what Bilbo- and now Frodo- has in his possession, and I think he would do a little more research before telling Aragorn the whole story. But anyways, thank you very much for the review :)
shirebound · 23 April 2006 · Chapter 3: Riddles: Riddling Games and Riddling Wizards (A. + Gandalf)
This is a nice scene. Aragorn's trust in Gandalf was so absolute, and it's obvious they've been trusted friends for a very long time.
Author's reply
About 45 years at this point of time, actually. *grin* Thank you very much for the review.
Raksha The Demon · 19 April 2006 · Chapter 1: Lost: The Quest (A. + Imrahil + OC)
Utterly charming! Particularly Aragorn's dragging Imrahil into the "Quest", and the laughter of the guard, and Aragorn's being his little daughter's obedient slave! (which can happen with fathers and little girls)
Author's reply
Thank you very much! Little girls can be quite commanding at times, and can even make kings obey them ;)
