Laurelin · 22 April 2009 · Chapter 12: Between White Stone and Shadows
Pippin is outside the city? How will he ever get back? THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!!! Haha I was reading this during Academic Wheel, & my teacher (who also happens to be a huge lotr fan) got mad 'cuz we were supposed to be doing something "school related":p, but then i told him what it was & he said he'd let it slide & asked me for the website URL! While I was reading your work I had to keep reminding myself that Pippin would be ok in the end... he will won't he???? Oh well I'll just keep reading *sighs contentedly*
Laurelin · 22 April 2009 · Chapter 8: At the End of All Roads
Awwwwwww! Pippin sacrificing himself for frodo is sweet! I hope those bloody orcs have something bad coming their way!
Laurelin · 21 April 2009 · Chapter 1: In the Halls of the King
I forgot to mention that i LOVED the 9 seats at the King's high table, and the flower for Borimir made me cry! It was the sweetest thing EVER! Man, frodo certainly is being morbid! but it adds an interesting little twist to the story so far.
Laurelin · 21 April 2009 · Chapter 1: In the Halls of the King
haha this chapter was funny. Same old Frodo trying to get out of taking his medicine! Well this is the last of your amazing stories that I have to read :( so I'm going to red it slowly.
Queen Galadriel · 27 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
Well, it took me long enough to get to this, didn't it? I'm so sad it's over, but happy too because now I get to read it all again without stopping! :) I'm so glad Frodo could talk to Marley and get some of that pain out! More important even than healing in body, though that's wonderful too, of course. The Dwarven ale was great, LOL! And I'm so glad that the man gave them another chance! :) What a lovely note to end on! Thank you for hours of enjoyment, Budgie! God bless, Galadriel
Frodo Baggins · 21 January 2007 · Chapter 19: Down Dark Roads to Terrible Truths
I didn't have time to finish the whole chapter. I only got the bad word part. Ha! I hate it when my brother says a word that's not so bad for an older person but sounds very bad from a seven year old mouth. Mom asks him where he heard it and he's like "Sarah says it all the time!" Nice. :) So I'll finish the chapter later. I just wanted to comment on that. :) Namarie, God Bless, Frodo Baggins
Aranel of the Golden Flower · 18 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine

Frodo Baggins · 15 January 2007 · Chapter 18: On the Cusp of Dreadful Knowings
NO! No, no, no, no!! Not possible to save Pip in time? You wouldn't. He's too wonderful and sweet and...If you do that, you'll have a very angry Baggins to deal with! :) Hantanyel for this story. Namarie, God Bless, Frodo Baggins
grumpy · 15 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
Lord Elrond sure has everyone running from his tonics, they must tatse horrible. Of course I am still giggling over his eavesdropping on Frodo, but it was for a good cause. Great chapter from the squireing of the two boys, to the hobbits guarding the mushrooms.
Elemmírë · 15 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
YEAH!!! A happy ending for all!!! Brion and Rich (as well as their parents) have a secure future in Gondor. Pippin was able to fulfill his duty to Frodo. Merry was able to fulfill his promise to Frodo (and make sure Pippin was "taken care of". “Are all hobbits so ruthless?” Faramir whispered to Gandalf. “We prefer to think of it as ‘practical’,” Merry interjected ROTFL!!! The man with the mushrooms was able to show his thanks this time. And most importantly, Frodo was able to have an unbiased conversation with a loving, motherly-type figure, who will listen to all his experiences ......... after defying Elrond's medical orders, of course. I LOVED their little argument about having to sleep vs. staying awake for more tonic. LOL! All in all, this is one of your best, Budgie! (!nd I got to help you! *Squeals in utter delight!*) ~Elemmírë~ p.s. I can hardly wait to see/read what you have in store for the hobbits next. I'm quite intrigued when you once mentioned to me about having inquired Surgical Steele for certain medical advice regarding transportation issues and hobbits.
Frodo Baggins · 14 January 2007 · Chapter 17: In a Room Shadowed with Fears Unnamed
Oh no! "THe King is coming...something is wrong." Oh dear! I haven't read this in a *long* time. I clicked on your latest update and had no idea what was going on. I was behind three chapters!! *clapping hand to head* I've really missed this and am very glad to be back. Hantanyel for this beautiful, cliffhangerful, amazing, edge-of-your-seat, story. ;) God Bless, Namarie, Frodo Baggins
Bodkin · 14 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
Cunning Merry! Dwarf ale has its uses. And they are all safe and sound, with the good rewarded and the bad having suffered the other thing! Even the man with the creamed mushrooms surfaces again and receives apologies and recognition. So ... what's next?
Linda Hoyland · 14 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
This has been a lovely story and I'm sorry to see it end.Thank you for a most enjoyable read.
Linda Hoyland · 14 January 2007 · Chapter 20: Alone in a Circle of Many
I just loved Arwen in this chapter, what a great twist !I like to see her written as the great lady she is and enjoyed this chapter very much.
GamgeeFest · 13 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
What a lovely and happy ending! Pippin will never let such good food go to waste, and I'm glad the old man was able to get over his fear of the hobbits to bring them more mushrooms. Frodo has a long way yet to heal, but he proves himself to be more resilient than would be thought. It was very sneaky of Gandalf and Elrond to let Marly oversee him so he could finally tell someone of some of his fears and doubts. And I thought that dwarf-ale was for Pippin! lol Merry just couldn't let his cousin drink alone, I guess. :D
Author's reply
As Merry would say, GamgeeFest, it was 'practical' of Gandalf and Elrond to arrange for Marly to be the listening ear Frodo needed. Wizards and Elf-lords can be ruthless, too. I'm so glad you enjoyed the story.
Larner · 12 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
Bless the children! Where would we be without them? Heh! Lovely!
Author's reply
It would be a lot quieter world without feet pounding on the stairs and shouting at full volume in your ear and arguing over whose turn it is to feed the dog. And we wouldn't have so much of our inspiration for young hobbits... :D
AspenJules · 12 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
And so we come to the end, though I could happily read another couple of chapters or more of Frodo pampering, Merry and Pippin interaction, Aragorn and Arwen, Faramir and Eowyn, Eomer, Elrond, Gandalf, Legolas and Gimli, Elladan and Elrohir, and the people of Minas Tirith. OH, and Marly and Peter and Rich and Brion. Which story contains the account of their original meeting with Fellowship? I'd love to read more about them. I have to say, Budgie, that this is the darkest, anstiest story I've ever completed. I've started a few others, but usually I just don't enjoy what my daughter calls "torture fics" where the characters go from one bad thing to the next. Usually they are so plotless they simply don't hold my attention. Needless to say, NONE of your stories are plotless, and your characterization is flawless as usual. It was tough to read through some of the darkest spots, and waiting for updates after a cliff-hanger was always a torture of its own, but I loved the story, and look forward to your next offering. Thanks!!
Author's reply
AspenJules, the reference story is my "Some Nameless Place" also available upon this site. Peter and his family are original characters more enduring (and endearing) than most of mine. (Most of my OCs are bad guys who seem to die nastily if they hurt a hobbit!) This was indeed one of my darker stories, and I thank you for sticking with it. The next offerings will be light and perhaps a little silly and sweet for a time. The next will be a "Getting to Know You" story with Boromir. I hope you enjoy it!
Pearl Took · 12 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
Bravo!! A grand ending - everyone well, happy and fed :-) And Pip is indeed a good lad, sharing like that ;-) I'm glad that Frodo got a chance to clear some of the hurt in his mind as well. MEWD!!!
Author's reply
*laughs * A good summary for a happy hobbit ending! Pip is indeed a generous soul with his unexpected bounty. I had fun writing in Frodo's being 'faintly insulted' upon overhearing Aragorn's remark - if he is only 'faintly' insulted, there must have been more truth than not in that remark!
Andrea · 12 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
Wow! A perfect ending! It was a wonderful idea to let this story end with the man with the creamed mushrooms. Thus, the beginning and the end of the story were connected. A perfect circle! I'm really impressed! “Are all hobbits so ruthless?” Faramir whispered to Gandalf. “We prefer to think of it as ‘practical’,” Merry interjected Practical indeed, but a little bit too practical for his own good, it seems ;-) I'm glad that Frodo was able to speak to Marly. It always helps to have someone to tell your fears to. And Marly had the right "distance" to him, not like the other members of the fellowship who were too much involved themselves. We know he did not find peace in Middle-Earth, but maybe this conversation helped him to be happy again for as long as possible. Thank you very much, Budgie! I enjoyed every chapter of this story :)
Author's reply
Andrea dear, you are exactly right in why Frodo could speak to Marly when he could not to anyone else, even those who loved him most. Thank you for recognizing that! I am always so pleased when someone picks up on something not written, but logically implied. And at the same time, emotionally evocative of real life.
Dreamflower · 12 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
What a perfectly delightful ending to such a thrilling adventure! I really liked Merry's clever solution to getting Pippin to "relax", LOL! And that he himself got rather somewhat relaxed as well I note--very good! All the sickroom interaction was lovely--especially Frodo's instant concern for and relief for his cousins, though I also was tickled by his confusion. “I suppose it is because they all have something to come back to. A sweetheart and a hole of his own for Sam, a family and land and position for Merry and Pippin. All I had was a Ring of fire and pain, and now even it is gone. I have … nothing.” So very sad, and so true to the way Frodo felt. I am glad he was able to talk about it to Marly, and I was so touched by the anxiety of the others, as they hoped for that. It was lovely to see Aragorn have a chance to reward Peter's family finally, and then the bit at the end with the mushrooms was just right! I'd been mourning those mushrooms on Frodo's behalf ever since it happened... Can't wait for you to start another tale!
Author's reply
I'm so glad you enjoyed the story, Dreamflower my dear! It tickled me to see your comment on Frodo's creamed mushrooms ... it reminded me Our Movies, when the poor hobbit hardly ever gets to eat. Have you noticed that? Out of Rivendell, the crebain deny him Sam's stew. He won't eat in that scene above the Anduin.Faramir's men keep him from enjoying those rabbits. It makes me just want to sit him down and feed him... :)
Elflingimp · 12 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine

Running very late now Budgielover but I just had to stay to appreciate this ending. Wonderful and all end neatly tied!

*grins* And now life may resume as usual ... until the next story!
harrowcat · 12 January 2007 · Chapter 20: Alone in a Circle of Many
How the heck did I miss this chapter being posted? And there I was hanging on by my finger ends to find out whether Pippin is safe. Well, being at my parents' house over Christmas and only able to access the net occasionally may have been the reason. After the Troll, being buried by an Orc would be light! And great work getting the desired lifts back to the city!
Author's reply
Harrowcat, I think this whole story might be subtitled, "The Rescues of Frodo and Peregrin." Ah, the fun in getting there!
Hai Took · 12 January 2007 · Chapter 21: In a Place Silhouetted by Sunshine
Lovely ending! I must say you have a flare for comedy, even when things are serious but you make it work so well! Poor Frodo coming into consciousness and feeling faintly insulted by Aragron ;) Also his thinking about being bathed and "devoutly hoping it was Sam" who had done it! Sam is so generous and one of those characters that I always wish I could be more like! I loved that he carefully took care of everyone else before he himself tried to rest, dear Sam! I'm very glad that Frodo had such a wonderful person to listen to his terrible memories. This looks to be a wonderful start to his healing! He certainly has plenty of people around who want to help him! A very nice story and you really illustrated the whole "all' well, ends well" philosophy! Even giving the man with the mushrooms another chance! :) Thank you for such an exciting read!
Author's reply
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story, Hai. It's the little moments you mentioned, not the great drama, that endear these characters to us. The little flashes of humanness (or 'hobbitness') that we identify with.
