Wow. You brought up some excellent points--points that I myself would ask at times about why Frodo *had* to leave. I felt Merry's heartache at losing his dear cousin three times. I'm looking forward to more. :-)

It's been quite an interesting experience for us as we discover more and more about Frodo and how Merry, Pippin, and Sam would have felt a few years after he left. All three of them will have to deal with their grief as they go through these mementoes of Frodo's. We're really looking as much forward to writing more as you are to reading more!

I guess we'll find out, won't we? *grins* Hopefully, the cable company will cooperate so you won't have too long to wait before you see the next chapter.

This is fantastic you two! I feel so much for Merry. The actual documents are marvelous.
Author's reply
Thanks! It isn't easy for any of them to go through the strongbox. There are more memories and insight into Frodo in there than they had realized.
We really are having a lot of fun working on the documents!

This is just lovely - I love that we get to see these things that Frodo clearly considered important through the eyes of those closest to him. The interaction between Merry and Pippin and Estella was lovely - and I enjoyed how Sam keeps having to stop himself from saying 'Mr.'
Author's reply
Thank you! We have had such a wonderful time figuring out the things Frodo would have kept all his life, and then had to leave behind at the end.
Merry, Pippin and Estella share a home--and I think that just as much as Merry, Estella has come to think of Pippin as a brother as well.
Merry and Pippin began to insist he drop the honorific after Frodo left, and most of the time he remembers. But when he is stressed or excited, he forgets--a lifetime habit is not easily overcome. He had said "Mr. Merry" and "Mr. Pippin" since he was 19, but he's only been saying "Merry" and "Pippin" for a bit less than four years.

“He was cheated in life. First by the death of his parents and then by The Ring. As long as I have known him, there was always a part of him that was missing. A part I never knew.”
“Well then, Merry, maybe you will find that missing part of Frodo in that strongbox of his.”
Poor Merry, still wounded by being "left behind" so many times. Perhaps he can find some closure now.
Author's reply
Well, we hope that will be part of the story process--to provide him with that chance.

I love you...or rather I Love the plot of this story...I can feel that this will be a most excellent collaborative story.
I am rather interested in where this story is to go. Many Fanfiction writers don’t have a very well written beginning chapter to their story but this one-this one this one tinkled me pink. I couldn’t help but laugh at the sweet simple line “Merry and Pippin watched the posthobbit trot off down the lane.”
I didn’t necessarily think it was funny…but…if you were the reader and you read this imagining the look on Merry and Pippin’s faces as they might watch the posthobbit trot off the lane.
Personally I always imagine Merry and Pippin making rather amusing faces as they do simple things, such as they did in the movies. lol
For some reason I saw them as glancing at the posthobbit with their mouths slightly open with glazed eyes.... But I suppose I shouldn’t get in to that...you probably think I'm strange enough...lol
Sorry I didn’t mean to tell you my life story in this review so I shall leave you with the thoughts of the future chapters of this story.
I think this will be a sad/beautiful/heartwarming tale (after some angst ^-^) and I am looking forward to reading his story further.
I’ll try to not be so weird next review.^-^
I do hope there will be an update soon.
Till we meet again
~Katie

I hope that the story will live up to all your expectations.
As to Merry and Pippin, and the posthobbit--I never thought of it quite that way before!
