This is so clever! I'm glad to see you writing again.

Author's reply

Thank you for reading, Linda! Hope I can find time to set down the stuff in my head.

Lynn H · 5 August 2014 · Chapter 4: The Book of Frodo, Chapter 2

I am glad to see this continue. Yes, I caught the paraphrase from Ruth and agree it is appropriate. Nicely styled!

Author's reply

Thank you for reading and commenting, Lynn H! I appreciate it, and am happy you liked it.

Antane · 2 August 2014 · Chapter 4: The Book of Frodo, Chapter 2

I love it! Especially from Ruth which I like to quote myself, even the part about dying and burying because that is likely how it happened with Frodo and Sam. Welcome back! Hopefully the muse will be kind to give you more soon. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Antane! I'm so glad you liked it! Don't know when the muse will strike again, though when it does, it doesn't take long to write.

galathil · 30 July 2014 · Chapter 4: The Book of Frodo, Chapter 2

Oh my goodness! Each chapter is a wonderful play on words and the bible. After reading all the other reviews, I agree with every one of them. I am going to add, please don't wait so long for your next story. You have a wonderful way with words. I have just read your other story, now I'm off to leave a review. Kind Regards Glalthil

Author's reply

Galathil, thank you for reading and commenting! I'll pass on your kind words to my brother, as well. The inspiration for these just seems to strike randomly, so who knows when another might emerge.

Lindelea · 28 July 2014 · Chapter 4: The Book of Frodo, Chapter 2

(Reminds me of the time a bunch of us started writing "The Council of Elrond" as might have been penned by various authors. Longfellow, Lewis Carroll, Dr. Seuss...

Author's reply

I just love that sort of thing! Which was how this all started...the very first bit of LOTR fic I wrote!

Lindelea · 28 July 2014 · Chapter 4: The Book of Frodo, Chapter 2

Simply amazing. Skilfully done.

Author's reply

Thank you, Lindelea! I'm glad you liked it!

Antane · 4 April 2010 · Chapter 3: The Fourth Book of Frodo

Another wonderful addition! Please do whatever you must to ask, beg, plead, for more of the tale to be told. :) Happy Easter! Christ is risen! He is truly risen! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

DrummersBrother · 16 March 2010 · Chapter 3: The Fourth Book of Frodo

Yes, this really is DrummerWench's brother. I appreciate the positive reviews. Since the bug seems to strike every two years or so, it is possible that more of these might show up. The difficult part of this one was conveying Gollum's dialogue without quoting directly or making it unlike something the KJV translators would not have recognized. And yes, cloke is spelled correctly. As Drummer has indicated earlier, if you grow up with the King James as the version you hear every day, it is easier to get in the rhythm. It doesn't hurt that Tolkien's English isn't too far removed from the Jacobean, or that the canon was written as though it were a translation of an archaic text.

curiouswombat · 12 March 2010 · Chapter 3: The Fourth Book of Frodo

How well your brother weaves the story and the KJV language together.

bookworm · 4 March 2010 · Chapter 3: The Fourth Book of Frodo

...Wow. Please convey to your brother that he is AMAZING. (also if he could maybe...write more?)=D

Armariel · 3 March 2010 · Chapter 3: The Fourth Book of Frodo

Very cute and clever! LOL Amazing how well it works.

Alassiel · 4 May 2008 · Chapter 2: The Second Book of Bilbo

Hail DrummerWench, Verily I say unto thee, this was a most delicious tale! Thy brother too hath wrought most skillfully. Alassiel

Author's reply

Alassiel, thanks for stopping by to read and review! I appreciate it.

Antane · 4 May 2008 · Chapter 1: The Book of Frodo

Well, that's an interesting take on it and it really does sound like it came from the Bible, esp. the end when I heard Frodo's and Mary's voice at the Annunciation together. They are alike those two in some ways. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thanks for commenting, Antane. And you're right, Frodo and Mary have much in common.

6336 · 4 May 2008 · Chapter 2: The Second Book of Bilbo

Your brother is a very, very bad minister not writing his sermon like that! I do like what he did write and I expect if he did give that reading in church a lot of people would not notice the difference!:<) "Very good reading, Padre, most enlightening!" More please, Lynda

Author's reply

I'm glad you liked it! Though of course he /did/ get his sermon written--just a little later than intended! Hmmm, readings from LOTR in church *ponders*

6336 · 4 May 2008 · Chapter 1: The Book of Frodo

Oh yes, L.O.L.! Typical 'Bible speak'! More please, Lynda

Author's reply

Thanks for reading! I'm not sure there is more right now--but the muse may strike!

harrowcat · 4 May 2008 · Chapter 2: The Second Book of Bilbo

Both chapters are brilliant DrummerWench!

Author's reply

Thanks for reading, harrowcat--I'm glad you liked them!

Larner · 3 May 2008 · Chapter 2: The Second Book of Bilbo

Between you and your brother, you have had me guffawing with laughter! Yea, verily! I laugh and my heart is gladdened and made light!

Author's reply

Thanks for stopping to read and comment, Larner! I'm glad we gave you a giggle!

Larner · 3 May 2008 · Chapter 1: The Book of Frodo

Yea, verily, this doth ring in my heart and tickle my funnybone. Most joyous it is to read it thus!

MithLuin · 12 July 2006 · Chapter 1: The Book of Frodo

Yep, DrummerGirl, it's me ;). I recognized the thread you referred to, but I don't have the link, either! I don't recall if I contributed, but I did indeed comment ;). Wonderful to see you here, and glad to see you're sharing this gem with a new audience.

docmon · 11 July 2006 · Chapter 1: The Book of Frodo

LOL! that was quite amazing. I'm surprised with how easily Frodo's story fits into this style. Either that or you make it _look_ easy. It feels entirely natural and right. Well done! (and yes, more would be good ;-))

Author's reply

Thanks for commenting, docmon! Well, I think I have a good ear for this antique kind of language. I certainly notice (and get annoyed ;) ) when others get it wrong. If I get the inspiration again, maybe I'll give it another go. Though I'm not sure how well the rest of the story would work being recast in a Biblical mode ... DrummerWench

MithLuin · 11 July 2006 · Chapter 1: The Book of Frodo

Very nicely done! You captured the style beautifully :). Thank you for sharing this here.

Author's reply

Hi, MithLuin! I assume this is the same MithLuin who posts at TORC? You contributed to the thread in question, as well, no? I can't find it, now, so can't check. Thanks for your comments, DrummerWench

Lynn H · 10 July 2006 · Chapter 1: The Book of Frodo

I like it, I like it! Is there more?

Author's reply

Hi, Lynn H - I'm glad you liked it! Sometimes, less is nore. If the mood strikes, I may write more. DrummerWench

Daynawayna · 10 July 2006 · Chapter 1: The Book of Frodo

ohmygosh! That was PRICELESS! DW, you have a future here! LOL I think you should write various parts of the Book of Pippin, Samwise, Boromir, Faramir, Eomer and Eowyn... of course the list goes on and on. What a precious gem of a story. With your permission, I'd like to send it to some family and friends with all proper credits and such. I absolutely LOVE it! The Book of Frodo.. hee hee! ;)

Author's reply

Hi, Daynawayna - Thanks for your comments! I'm flattered that you want to share it. I'd really rather that you just send the link to the story, though. That way, people might read not just my stories, but other Stories of Arda. And I'm worried that it might get mangled and unattributed, ultimately, in the endless email forwarding. I'm OK with you printing it out, though. :) DrummerWench
