Great Antane and very true. Seeking reconciliation with those that know us and love us best can be the hardest thing of all.

Elemmírë · 8 November 2006 · Chapter 13: A Decision Made
Wow, you sure got this one up pretty quick! Jump start indeed! LOL! How very poignant in its own way that the Gamgees have little to say to Gandalf now ... and in a way, I can't blame them. If only they truly understood what the wizard did by urging Frodo on his journey, would they be able to forgive him as well. Maybe Sam will urge them to do so at his bequest. They took many long walks, the hobbit’s hand in his friend’s as trusting as a child, in which they had talks that continued to help heal the tortured Ring-bearer, I love that image. *sighs happily* “It’s such a long way and I think it would be harder to tell him then anyone. He’s always been so proud of me, loved me so much. That I did such a monstrous thing as to murder someone we both loved, I think would be more than I can bear to tell him. I fear how he would look at me then, not with cheer and love, but with fear and revulsion, like...like I looked at him when he tried to take the Ring away from me.” That's such a great analogy there, Antane ... that Frodo would be just as frightened of Bilbo's reaction and look as he himself did when his adoptive guardian once tried to take the Ring from him. However, it's also ironic in a way because Frodo knows that Bilbo reacted the way he did due to the evil influence of the Ring. And I also very much liked how you had Bilbo confiding his fears to Gandalf. I can see him only saying such to the wizard or Elrond, as they have both known him for a very long time. I can't wait to see where you take this next, Antane ... I mean, I have an idea where're you're headed, but it's the journey there that I eagerly anticipate. Namarie ~Elemmírë~

Yes, this is forgiveness he needs.

I think it may be the one that will get him over the hump and show him the way to forgive himself. We shall see... Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Queen Galadriel · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 12: Another Adventure
Aw, I love it! Frodo looking around suspiciously for Sam and his cousins, ready to accuse them for another conspiracy, Gandalf's gentle but firm guiding Frodo on this new adventure, their talk about Iluvatar, and that beautiful last line of Gandalf's! Wonderful, wonderful! God bless, Galadriel
Larner · 18 October 2006 · Chapter 12: Another Adventure
Yes, each light sparking the others.
harrowcat · 18 October 2006 · Chapter 12: Another Adventure
A long journey that we can't walk without good friends. I am glad that Gandalf has come to help.
Frodo Baggins · 16 October 2006 · Chapter 9: A Gift and a Blessing
OH Antane! Rosie's last words were so beautiful, and truer than I think she imagines. "I still don’t understand and I don’t think I ever will," she started softly. She looked into Frodo’s tear-streaked face. "But the one thing I do understand, is that you didn’t do it, Mr. Frodo. Sam made that very clear and my Sam don’t lie. I know you believe that you aren’t either, but you weren’t yourself at the time. I know you’ve loved Sam as much as he has loved you and you still do as much as he still loves you. He wouldn’t love someone who killed him." She held him gently. "I’m thinking that this Ring damaged you a whole lot more than it did him." The only sound in the room was Frodo’s tears. That was so sweet of her. Hannon le. God Bless, Im mil le, YOur Frodo
Frodo Baggins · 16 October 2006 · Chapter 8: A Tale Told
Yes, I am reading this story. I've been so far behind fanfiction. I don't where I got to. Oh my goodness! I could *not* imagine having to tell the family of...my Sam that *I* killed their loved one. That would wrench the heart right out of me. But Sam was there all the same, and he wouldn't leave Frodo or his family no matter what. Even when he's not visible, they all know he's there. And the part about Frodo's parents is so heartwarming. Hannon le! IM mil le, GOd Bless, Frodo Baggins
Elanor Silmariën · 16 October 2006 · Chapter 11: A Short Cut
Sam's love is just another expression of the love the One has for his children. I love how Sam keeps assuring Frodo that there is Another out there who loves him much more. Lovely! Please write more soon! God bless, Ellie

Glad to see Frodo at least try to take Marigold's advice about taking a look in the mirror. I certainly hope the poor dear will soon be able to forgive himself and see his own beautiful Light. Another very beautiful and spiritually uplifting piece, Antane. (I don't feel as if I missed going to Church now this Sunday. Thank you) ~Elemmírë~

Thank you, my dear, but you still have to go to church - I can't replace God! But I am glad you are enjoying. Frodo just has to get over that last hump - to forgive himself - and I have no clue at the moment how he is going to do that. Ideas would be welcome of course. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane

A most worthy prayer/poem for him to use at the moment. Frodo is learning to find the Light that enlightens both himself and Sam. Lovely.

Hannon le, my dear Larner - the poem did fit just perfectly for the two didn't it? :) Namarie, God bless, Antane
Frodo Baggins · 15 October 2006 · Chapter 5: Questions That Need Answering
Antane, that was poignant. You know, I have the strongest memory of my dad sitting me down and saying that thing Gandalf said about a war being waged for my soul. Maybe that is why that speech Gandalf made was so powerful to me. It *is* hard to fight, and I want to hold Frodo and tell him he's not the only one. *sniff* Poor Frodo. And that was sweet how you said that his parents were there too. Hannon le! God Bless, IM mil le, Frodo Baggins
Author's reply
Hannon le, my dear Frodo! I didn't know you were reading this. Very cool. I recently read this very interesting book called Following Gandalf that speaks of this spiritual warfare we are all engaged in and that all those in Middle-earth were and that's where the real battle is. Namarie, God bless, Im mil le, Antane :)

Oh wow! This chapter is so deep and beautiful. I love Frodo and Sam's conversation about light and Love. The short cut is great, and the feeling of being clean at the end...I'm so glad Frodo has that. And so he's learning to know his Creator, led by Sam's hand. God bless, Galadriel

Queen Galadriel · 11 October 2006 · Chapter 10: A Talk in the Garden
Reviewing two chapters now. I don't know how I missed these before. So wonderful to see Frodo teasing Sam just a little bit! Poor Gaffer; it's natural when we grieve to want to blame someone, but he's off the mark. Sauron is the only one to blame. Because of him the Ring came into existence, because of him the battle to destroy it the first time was lost, because of him Smeagol was enslaved and the Ring was brought to the caves beneath the Misty Mountains, because of him both Bilbo and Frodo were hurt, and others as well. Of course there is more involved. It was the Creator's will that Bilbo find the Ring and that it pass to Frodo, the only one who could, to be destroyed; if Smeagol hadn't been rather mean-spirited to start with he wouldn't have been enslaved so quickly. But still, it all goes back to Sauron. And I love the talk with Marigold in the garden! She's so sweet, like her mother, I think. Marigold’s eyes widened. Before she could think better of it, she took Frodo’s hand and wrapped her warm fingers around his cold ones. She and Sam had always been the ones to rescue injured chicks and birds and nursing them back to health. Frodo reminded her of one of those poor little ones who needed some extra tender loving care. Awwww! I think he'll have all the extra TLC he needs between sam and the family and of course his cousins. "I will tell you a secret, Mr. Frodo," she said as she looked down at his hand and began to stroke it gently. Part of her was horrified at her boldness, part of her was applauded her courage and heart. "Daisy, May and I had the wildest liking for you when you first came. You were the most beautiful lad we had ever seen and we were crazed with jealousy that our Sam saw you each day and we could only see you if you called or if you were out by yourself or with Sam or Mr. Bilbo. We would beg Sam to tell us everything you said and did and when our mum would have him bring some cake or other sweet over to you and Mr. Bilbo, we made sure to tell him to bring it to you in the hopes then when Sam brought back the empty basket, we would have something that you had touched." Frodo blushed furiously, totally at a loss of how to respond. *giggles* She wiped at the tears that streamed down Frodo’s cheeks and then kissed his cheek softly. "Believe in your own goodness, Mr. Frodo. It’s still there. We can all see it. Now you have to look in the mirror and see it for yourself." And will he? God bless, Galadriel
Author's reply
I'm glad he was up to teasing his dear also. :) Will he or won't he - that is the question isn't and we all know how terribly stubborn he can be, don't we? I got your EBH e-mail but am already over my lunch hour so can't respond now, much as I would like to stay in, as a friend of mine calls it, 'the real world' but work does call. You are in a bit of pickle though, aren't you, poor dear. :( Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Antane
harrowcat · 11 October 2006 · Chapter 9: A Gift and a Blessing
I think that Rose's comment about damage is so true. Got to run....
Author's reply
I thought so too, though it's scary to think of it that way, but true - the Ring killed Sam's body but couldn't damage his soul and the opposite is true Frodo. I would hope that once Frodo truly realizes and accepts that he has been forgiven by everyone, that he's buried under so much love, he'll have no choice but to forgive himself, but you know how stubborn a Baggins can be! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Elemmírë · 11 October 2006 · Chapter 9: A Gift and a Blessing
Hi Antane! I was wondering if you were going to have a part where Frodo tells the Gamgees about Sam. I like how he told Sam to "stay home" HeHe. I also enjoyed the Gaffer's frankness and practical view. How very like Rose to see through all that she doesn't understand for what she does--love. I think this to be a fine addition to the rest, Antane, and I'm glad you snuck it in there! It brings eveything together more in reagrds to Frodo's confession to the Gamgee family and Rose. Well done! ~Elemmírë~

And all who can see that Light of Being are blessed themselves, I think.
harrowcat · 3 October 2006 · Chapter 10: A Talk in the Garden
No wonder that Frodo is blushing at the admission of such crushes! But Marigold has the right of it. I hope that Frodo begins to take it in.
Larner · 2 October 2006 · Chapter 8: A Tale Told
The Ring did what it could to destroy, but couldn't stop the divine plan. And Love even now works to fully claim Frodo once again.
Elemmírë · 2 October 2006 · Chapter 8: A Tale Told
The last time I went to Church before I went away, the priest's sermon had one very defining lesson, moral, truth (whatever you want to call it) to it: that Forgiveness is Love. (and to Love is also to Forgive) You captured that sentiment so very well here between the Gamgees and Frodo, Antane. I just don't know what else to say, except that you've blown me away with this entire AU tale. Very well done! ~Elemmírë~
Author's reply
Hannon le for your very kind words, my dear Elemmire! I was wondering what happened to you and wondered if you didn't like the latest chapters (I do have a tendency to sometimes jump to worst-case scenario with no in between) and am very glad that you are still enjoying! I don't know (yet at least) what happens to Rose or to Frodo for that matter. We'll see! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Elemmírë · 2 October 2006 · Chapter 7: Love Endures
I loved Sam's stubborn persistence in this chapter, along with Merry and Pippin's as well to get Frodo to smile. And the scene with the Gaffer is just so utterly perfect! His cheerful reaction at seeing Frodo returned at first, only to have it destroyed minutes later by Frodo's confession is just so palpable. And, you wrote the Gaffer's character very well. I could just picture him and hear his voice from his all-too brief scene in FOTR. And I absolutely LOVED how the Gaffer could "see" Sam and also that he realized his lad was special, just as Bell always said. I just hope all goes well with Rosie. You had me reaching for one of Bilbo's pocket-handkercheifs again with this chapter, Antane. ~Elemmírë~ p.s. I second all of Queen Galadriel's awesome-sounding ideas for an epilogue/further chapters to explore. I really like the one about what happens to Rosie, but so far this story is exploring more of what happenes to Frodo in relation to Sam's physical absence. I especially liked the Queen's idea of an epilogue or where does Frodo live and go in his life from this point on? (prods the muse) :D
Elemmírë · 2 October 2006 · Chapter 6: Lessons in Living
Aghh!!! I seen to have missed a few chapters here while I was away. Oh well, at least I had some more of this wonderful tale to look forward to when I got back. Very important detail, that Aragorn was there dressed in his familiar Ranger garb and not the robes of a king. All the better to ease Frodo and help the poor dear. I also love his words to Frodo, but most especially the part about losing the physical sight, but not losing their love. Very akin to Robert Frost's 'The Path Not Choosen' poem. (would you believe I first typed out Robert Frodo ... LOL!) I agree though, that God did not mean for us to all go down the easy path all of the time. Life would not be worth living if it were as such. We must all endure at least some form of hardship and suffering for His sake and the gift He gave us. Another very wonderful and asute chapter, Antane!! ~Elemmírë~
harrowcat · 2 October 2006 · Chapter 8: A Tale Told
It may not be a tale suitable for lasses but they need to hear it to understand why they had to lose Sam. Forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts that we can give one another and, I think, acceptance of that gift can be one of the hardest things to do too. You show this so well.
Author's reply
Hantanyel, my dear harrowcat! So true about forgiveness - the only person who hasn't forgiven Frodo is Frodo himself. We'll have to see whether that stubborn Baggins can bring himself to believe he's not so terrible as he thinks he is. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
